Anyone who asks about having a contract. Read this! Hmmmm....about that I recommend you to contact the service team of webnovel (for exclusive contract) and they will review your book if it was qualified. If it has good numbers of view, word count, etc. (Remember that not all who wanted to be contracted were given a contract.)
They will then notify you at system notification. Sending you a mail on gmail and a link for the contract(PDF) to be downloaded and to be filled with infos about your book and yourself. It made me pass the contract to the inkstone and wallah! Done! But I made mistakes so I corrected my mistakes and passed again.

After you are contracted, you will be given an editor chatting portion on your inkstone and chat them that you want to lock your chapters. They will give you a link and fill it up. (To what chapter you will lock your novel)

Warning!

Remember that after you are contracted and your book is premium, you need to be dedicated to write for four months. Writing 1500 words per chapter every single day for a month will give you 200 dollars per month for 4 months. It is called Minimum guarantee system. Missing an update even once will make goodbye to 200 dollars.

Well if you want to just update on what time you like, you will still earn your revenue(50-50) share with webnovel. But it will be goodbye to MGS. Everyone has the right to be free if they don't want to stress out on daily updates.

Missing the first month of MGS will still give you a chance for the next month.

After four months, your book were on your own and you will have the actual revenue of your novel itself.(50-50) share with webnovel.

Well have a nice day!

    It is a horrible system.

Some stories actually have longer chapters but they are encouraging spam instead of quality chapters. By right, it should be a monthly word count quota and not a daily quota.

If the author falls sick for even a single day, they will lose the income.

I remember that the chinese website are based on a monthly quota. So chinese websites are more humane than webnovel.

I will just point out that there is no one who says you have to write 1500 words a day. It is a choice you have, that is just the requirements to get the Minimum Guarantee System. If you are okay not getting the minimum guarantee, then you can release as you want, however, the chapters need to be a minimum of 1000 words to be uploaded as a premium chapter. Most likely so that the reader will get something for their money.

I have two novels contracted through Webnovel, and I have never gotten the minimum guarantee system, but I have, on the other hand, neither been forced to do 1500 words a day. I made a decision, and everyone has the right to make the same decision.

We also have to remember that there are two types of contracts to get your novels up on Webnovel, one is the exclusive that goes directly through webnovel, another is a non-exclusive that goes through EMP. I have tried both contracts and are quite pleased with how things are now.

Thanks! For clarifying! I was just saying my thoughts and what I know. May the others who were interesting will see your comment!

Mel_Aniv Here's a link of someone asking about the webnovel contract stuff and the various replies ah it's also interesting to see. The point is that the 1500 words a day thing isn't obligatory but an extra thing for authors who want that extra guaranteed income in their wallets. Also, four months or not you will still only get 50% of the revenue (via gifts and coins). Personally, I was offered a contract and I really only accepted cuz I liked the gift system hehe, I didn't change my writing ways at all once I got the contract. You don't have to go premium and lock chapters immediately, no one is forcing ya (it's been months and all my chapters are still free) and I honestly don't see much of a difference other than that I can't write on my app anymore because apparently once you get contracted its more difficult write and such on your phone app ORZ. That's probs my biggest pet peeve.

Avidfan there is such a thing as scheduled releases, so you can stock up the chapters before finalizing the contract and have the stocked chapters release based on a timer.

_Love_Illusionist 1500 words is only required if you want the minimum guarantee system. Or now with the Win-Win event.

As a contracted author you can pretty much write as you would before with no problem. I even know authors who took long breaks. Naturally it isn’t good for your payout but not everything is about money :)

Tinalynge I get now, but this MSG thing only last for four months right? You can take a month or two break if you wanna?
Cos I had already pictured myself writing 1500 words each day for four months, I would suck badly 😟

I received a reply from a global editor from Webnovel. She asked me about the link like something what you're message is all about. Also if I am using an app, I will send her my pen name, title and the link. Is this a sign? Hahaha I hope wn will not ban me about sharing this one. I'm just curious. Thanks

MGS, Minimum Guarantee System, runs on a monthly basis.
If you miss one month, you can still attempt to earn it the next month.

MGS is a good way to earn a bit of money, but as you said, it is time limited, and well, $200 is not enough for me to stress myself over it.

I am also of the impression that if your story earns more than $200 a month, you do not get the earnings + $200, but just the earnings.

The minimum guarantee system is to ensure that you get a minimum of $200 a month, but if you earn more than that on your own, then it just vanishes.

Even so, I think it is a nice incentive for new authors to earn a bit of revenue on their novels.

Be aware that the non-exclusive contract through EMP does not give you MGS.

                    KoraL

I know. But if you are an original writer that writes on the fly. I'm sorry to tell you that sometimes it is tough. Maybe you won't feel it because you are young, energetic, never sick, plenty of positive vibes etc. Some people can even get the timing wrong and accidentally post 2 chapters within the wrong timing too.

I just want to point out if you miss a 'single' day of the month, you fail is an unfair system.

Yup, unless u have a completed story already then you can stock it up.

Unless you are a full time writer, it kinda hard to do it for four months. Remember if you miss only 1 time each time, you will lose 98% of all your efforts.

I do know the system. Having signed a chinese contract and webnovel. The chinese contract is much better and easier.

Just pointing out that it is harsh for new writers that took the exclusive contract for webnovel. In the end, they will lose all their rights to webnovel, while earning almost nothing.

I also do know that writers like Tinalynge is successful but this system will encourage cheating.

Have you ever wondered why most translated stories here only last four months and then are dropped? And why some chapters are cut into 3 parts to monetize it?

I know it is profitable for some countries to do so and it has become a business.

I'm just trying to be the devil advocate here so that fellow writers don't believe that everything is this easy.

                      Avidfan
Yeah totally agree with you that it will not be easy to update every day. Not knowing if you will get sick or the mental health to write was okay. It was for the other ones to decide knowing now the truth about it.

                        Mel_Aniv

Yup, you never know when writer block is coming, mental issues like families, other issues will happen. No one can really predict the future...or emergencies.

Mel_Aniv I get a contract for my second book, I haven't signed yet, I'm planning to have my first one also contracted. Should I use the email they used to contact me for the contrat to ask them to see if my first book can get contracted or not?
