Today, I would like to introduce you to another novel with many face slapping.

Lonelytree, the translator, kept asking for a new project to work on for a long time, however, he was not interested in any novels I gave him.

One day, he asked me again, and since I had no new novels to offer, I just threw at him a female orientated novel I just read.

He loved it!

He translated quickly, but the problem lay that even after 100 chapters, we still hadn't found a proper female editor for him.

We don't have any female editors available at this time, so Sunny had to try to give this novel to our new editor, Millman97.

Surprisingly, Millman97 loved it as well!

I'm interested to see how two men can work on a female orientated novel, but it also reflects that good stories have no gender boundary.

Now, that there are almost 200 chapters in stock, and I think the story is ready to meet you guys.

Here is Lonelytree's words about the publication of this novel:

Couple of things I feel I should answer with the release of this title:

  1. Why is the title released when it was literally last place in the voting pool?

Because, let's be honest, this title is not going to see the light of day if it isn’t released this way. The translation is almost at chapter 200, and its votes get eclipsed by new novels after a day, two at most.

  2. Why should I care that this title gets released aka. Why should I read this?

-To quote my editor, ‘for the face-slapping’. The MC face-slaps people so hard in the story that you’ll feel the echo of the slap reverberating out of the page and into your soul.
-To shamelessly quote myself, ‘for the cliches’. The plot is so cliche that you’ll be able to see the rest of it chapters away, and yet you’ll still be drawn into it. At the end of the day, isn’t it what those more popular xianxias and wuxias are all about? Wish fulfillment [Oh yes, shots fired].
-To quote my dear friend, DarkGem, ‘for Xi Lin, the little boy in the story’. Oh yes, you think Hidden Marriage has the market on the cute boy trope cornered? Well, think again.
-To quote my boss, Sunny, ‘for the social experiment’. Both my editor and I are males working on a female orientated romance story. In fact, she wrote a cute backstory on how the both of us ended up working together on this title and… dare I say more. Ask her about it if you have the guts to find out.

(Ps. This piece of writing has been edited by Darkgem (love you) because Dana said the original version is too, and I quote, bitter and bitchy.)

This post is just another way to recommend good novels to you, no matter if they're female orientated or not. These novels have many chapters in stock and have been waiting for way too long. Of course, they are good. The only question is if it's your type. Give it a try, and it will impress you.

Many good novels are waiting for your favor, enjoy!

Hi guys,

I remember when our forum just launched, there was a post asking for more female novels. Therefore, we prepared some and put them in the voting pool. Unfortunately, they don't get enough votes to be published.

It has been a long time since we put them there, and some of them have more than 200 chapters in stock.

We don't want these novels and their translators and editors to wait too long, and also, we think these novels are good enough to recommend to you.

For these reasons, we will recommend some novels in the voting pool and publish them.

Today, we will publish Bringing the Nation's Husband Home.

It's a famous novel in China. It has been adapted into both an animation and Chinese comics

Here is the author's own words about it:

"Have you ever secretly loved somebody for more than ten years? I don't know how many people can really do it in reality. But I always believed, after meeting so many people, experiencing so many things, if you can hold hands with your first love, that would be the most beautiful story."

Let's give this story a chance and enjoy!

Fix the typo on the cover art please :D. It should be Nation's and not Nation ;)

Yay, more female orientated titles is always nice.

Please also publish EEWC. It was alwaysb1st during the start or the week then drop to 2nd place during the middle of the week.

I do like more female-oriented novels (my favorite chinese novels are either danmei, or those with a female protagonist), but the only problem is, is that the novels in the voting pool don't/didn't peak my interest (either that or a different non-female protag novel in the voting pool is more interesting to me atm). I'm personally more of a Chu Wang Fei or Princess Weiyang or My Disciple Has Died Yet Again type of person (yea My Disciple Has Died Yet Again is drastically different from the other two coughs but love it all the same). Anyways, so it's not like throwing any old female oriented novel at me is going to make me want to read it (although I guess a really popular one isn't just any old female oriented novel). So yeah. That's what I think. That being said, since this has been released anyways... I'll still go to read it >->

I really want to read EEWC I`ve been waiting a long time for it and I think it kinda unfair it has not been publish yet when it was been in second place for like three weeks but "Bringing the Nation's Husband Home" not even in the top five is published because it is famous in China. This is just my opinion though

To published more female oriented novel. My suggestion is have two voting result every week.
        1) Highest votes under normal votings
        2) Highest votes for female oriented novel

          joann

Or perhaps add a set # of votes (ie 10K) to each of the remaining novels for the next week. This would make it more likely the remaining novels get picked eventually.

            ChupChup
Pretty sure the votes aren't reset week to week, it's just that the other stories continued to receive enough support that this story didn't manage to make it.

Honestly, I think splitting the vote section into different genres is opening up a can of worms and isn't feasible or sustainable. It'd be better to just occasionally remove a story from the vote and release it if there's so many backlogged chapters prepared for it. If there were a lot of stories being voted on and a lot of translators working on things in the background, it'd probably even be possible to have an event every 3 or so months (with the changing seasons) to just batch-release the stories that have a lot of work done already but haven't received enough votes. I'm not actually sure how many stories like this one though and are being worked on in the background, though. =|a

there is a reason that most of those stories don't get enough votes. Why do we vote for novels and then later shit on it anyway by picking up whatever we like? Then just don't make a vote and release a novel at random. Female novels are clearly not appreciated enough to get the majority votes and now to try to make a 50/50 for this bullshit is just pathetic.

                Billdoor

There are many, many reasons why a story might not get enough votes, and—quite frankly—I feel it is neither fair nor wise to cut off potentially good novels just because people stick to the comfortable and familiar. It clearly says "The book with the most likes will be released with priority"; that does not mean "Those who don't get enough votes will never be released". People voted and got the novels they wanted released with priority, which is why this specific story hasn't been released yet where the others have. No reason why it should remain in hiatus indefinitely if there has already been so much work done on it.

Female novels are obviously not very popular in comparison, and unlike neutral or male oriented novels they are much harder to enjoy reading as a male. Why put so much focus on these novels when better and novels that have much more demand are put on hold to accommodate them?

                A simple method to fix problem is available, actually a lot of methods are available, I've conveniently made a list for you;

A] Release a voting page just for female novels, and let those votes sit for say 2 weeks per novel being introduced.

B] Since female novels are desired by the minority, just simply release them whenever you think it is appropriate and take them out of the voting pool so the more popular novels aren't affected.

C] Find female novels that have no romance and focus on cultivation, as the majority of female targeted novels have strong females that for some retarded reason like to be treated like crap or be raped. This doesn't translate well to male viewership, and more readers are male to female, and that will always be the case, so you might want to find some tamer female novels.

D] Release genderbender novels, as they allow the male AND female audience to enjoy it, as long as the novel is good.

E] Stop worrying about 'female' novels and just release GOOD novels. Males and Females like Reverent Insanity, Avalon of Five Elements, Pet King, Gourmet (both), and Library of Heavens Path. Since these novels are popular in their own right without needing to adhere to some gender target, even with the protagonists being male, we can simply emulate them.

F] Branch out and emulate royalroadl and other sites to have others write for you, although not chinese novels, fantastic authors of books like Dex/Clairs Adventure, Arcanist, Everybody loves big chests, The wandering inn, and Lone Wanderer are very popular with male and female fans.... Plenty of good novels good be gained in this way and they emulate the Chinese writing style.

(PS: I think idea F sucks, but I just had to mention it anyway since it popped into my head)

Leylin_Farlier Wait. Let me wrap my head around your argument which basically says that female orientated novels can't be good novels?

                  Leylin_Farlier
                  . . .

Leylin_Farlier Female novels are obviously not very popular in comparison, and unlike neutral or male oriented novels they are much harder to enjoy reading as a male.

                  Emphasis mine.

Ex...cuse me? Look. We can talk about statistics and say that "males are statistically more likely to prefer stories that are specifically designed to appeal to the majority of them", but that argument is not "men have more difficulty enjoying these kinds of novels". The difference might be a bit nuanced, but it's a rather key difference, and would be akin to saying "men are less competent at teaching" because there are fewer male teachers. That's not how it works. "Men are statistically less likely to be a teacher" is more precise.

A+B] At that point, why don't we just start splitting novels into their other genres as well? Perhaps recent trends show that Xianxia and Xuanhuan are what people have a preference towards, so we should isolate Sci-Fi and Sports away from them. Makes sense, no?

The more popular novels aren't going to be affected because of a less-popular choice. You realize that, right? This doesn't even touch upon the spoiler effect for elections, because the two genres are so disparate that the people who vote for one are unlikely to vote for the other.

C] . . . The hell? You do realize that the typical genres are classified based upon expected characteristics, right? Japanese equivalents being shounen (young males, One Piece), seinen (adult males, Monster), shoujo (young females, Skip Beat), and josei (adult female, Nana), stories tend to fall into the categories based upon those characteristics. An emphasis on drama (interpersonal relationships, romance, so on) happens to be prominent in shoujo and josei, whereas an emphasis on action (be it combat or thriller psychological/mystery) is in shounen and seinen. You're basically telling them to find a shoujo/josei novel that... is actually shounen or seinen instead.

Demonstrated Example: You know, I'm getting really tired of these cultivation novels, so maybe we need to find a cultivation novel with some real stuff; how about we get a cultivation novel about the rise and fall of a sports team as they rise to the top of the tournament while avoiding all of that power-up and cultivation levels nonsense. That's just boring.

"Tamer female novels". What. I'm reading all of this, but I'm sort of scratching my head. Like, are you saying this based upon the content of this story? Because I'm very skeptical that such content comprises a majority, or an amount that warrants broad criticism like this.

D] . . . Are you joking? You do realize that genderbender novels are contentious as heck, right? We're talking about sometimes on the same level as harems—people will actively drop a good story concept at even the hint of genderbender at times. Furthermore, genderbender has absolutely nothing to do with genre (a shounen/seinen genderbender is much different from a shoujo/josei genderbender). You do realize that a story's genre is not dependent upon its main character, but its content, and that there can be male leads in "female" novels or female leads in "male" novels, right?

E] And... that's why they're releasing this novel? They feel it's a good novel, they already had people working on it, so they released it; you're the one getting hung up on its genre, not them. =|

Dannnnz We don't want these novels and their translators and editors to wait too long, and also, we think these novels are good enough to recommend to you.

In short, I don't think you entirely understand the situation at hand?

Leylin_Farlier I don't think you're going to succeed in this debate by appealing to reality or logic. It might be best to just let statistics show over time which ideas are profitable with regard to the market, and which are not.

When you have that data, it's easier to discuss how to improve the thought processes which resulted in making perhaps less profitable decisions. It's a very human trait that we often confuse the way we wish things were with the way they are.

Dannnnz I would also suggest a 5 Chapter preview for ALL the stories. Otherwise most people are just voting on the title and cover. Also since Like counts don't reset it gives more weight to stories that have been on the list longer.

Sometimes you just need to take a chance with publishing niche novels. If you feel like something will be popular then give it a chance without needing to be the top voted novel.
