Yep2. Evil MC is bad. Everyone want a good Protagonist.

My novel got complain because it features Arrogant Young Master as MC even when he wasn't that bad compared to true Arrogant Young Master who grab and rape girls on the street.

People here are all wrong. There is only one true type of evil protagonist. They are insanely popular in some parts of the world, but I personally hate them.
A truly evil protagonist has the following qualities:
    - No personality.
    - Ridiculous levels of indecisiveness.
    - A harem of girls that throw themselves at him, but he ignores it.
    - His mind is as dense as a black hole.
    - He plays no active part in the story and just goes with the flow.
Yes, the truly evil protagonist is every Japanese light novel's protagonist ever made. Even Leylin from Warlock of the Magus World would tremble in fear before them. How could something so unnatural even exist?! Readers beware!

I haven't read that, but I just described 90% of Japanese light novel protagonists. Chinese novels often have the complete opposite problem. Harems of trophy girls with MC's that kill everything like robots from the future.

N0xiety Innocent means the soul has not committed a crime worthy of death. Using real world common sense. It is not a perspective. If someone kills an innocent soul then he or she has committed an evil action rendering them to be evil. If they killed someone in self defence then they are not evil. They did it to survive. Do you get what I mean? If someone purposely caused the death of another person this removes their innocence and they can be killed for their crime.

Myumara Because you’re doing it wrong.. No one enjoys violence for the sake of violence and even then the process that you described wasn’t even mildly interesting to read about.. Nowa days, with twisted crap like human centipede, if you want to revolve your story around gore then you have to push things up a notch kek))

elliptic You just said 'real world common sense' and that it's not perspective. Common sense IS a 'perspective'. People all over the world have different 'common sense', so there is no universal 'common sense' out there. Your 'common sense' doesn't have to be MY 'common sense' ok? Also, there is no such thing as an 'innocent soul'. People decide if you are innocent or not. You can kill thousands, but can still be deemed innocent in a society that approves of your actions.

If you are talking about god's innocent, don't even bring religion into a logical topic because logic ends where religion begins...

Sythcake "No one wants violence for the sake of violence" You just described an anti-hero MC not a true Evil MC. Anit heroes are Lawfull-Evil and almost every novel on here has a Lawful-Evil MC. A Chaotic-Evil MC doesn't need a reason for anything as he lives by his own rules and may just want to watch the world burn.

You cant ask for a CE MC then expect him to have a reason for the things he does.

N0xiety Common sense literally means sound judgement. The common sense being applied here is to decide someone’s innocence. Now majority of people will have a common belief that if someone hasn’t killed anyone else they shouldn’t be killed. It doesn’t matter if a law states that this person is innocent or guilty. The common belief that humans are born with is that everyone has a right to live. But if you take someone else’s right to live then you similarly should lose your right to live. Don’t go all batshit crazy over someone else’s opinions my dude. We both know that if you see someone else killing people indiscriminately you will consider them to be very evil. Even if they believe themselves to be innocent.

elliptic Wrong, you are not born with anything. Common sense isn't something you are born with. People aren't born with a belief that life is sacred. It is something you learn from your parents and the society around you. That is why child soldiers exist, they are trained into killers, not born as one, just as you aren't born as an angel of justice, whoevers justice that may be... You are a blank slate when you are born, what you turn out to be is mostly decided by the people and the society around you.

Lets give a few examples against your claims. Soldiers take others right to live. They kill for their country. For the people of their country, they are heroes, but for the family of the guy who they killed, they are the worst possible evil on this earth. So who is right? Can YOU decide that? Is he a hero, or is he a demon? Or are you going to justify it by saying, 'it's war'? Lets give another example, in the medieval times, nonbelievers were labled with all sorts of crimes by the church. They were called witch, demon spawn, unholy, possesed and this was enough justification for them to be burned or prisoned. Just saying that 'earth is round' was enough to get you thrown into the prison. Now, you would think that the church of that time is clearly evil for doing such a thing, but for the people of that time, that wasn't so. This was just normal. Those people were surely evil! They deserved what's coming to them for their sins! So again, it's just a matter of perspective and what the society thinks of ones actions. There is nothing 'batshit crazy' about simple logic and questioning. If you are a logical human being, you can understand this much...

So what you are saying is, if someone has a reason for the killing, that somehow makes them 'less evil'? Or, are you saying that if that someone has a reason YOU approve of? Haha...
