Jia_K I HATEEEEE STEPBROTHER NOVELS
What turns you off in a novel?
- Edited
I have read through all your comments and I can proudly say that my novel contains none of these red pots mentioned above
Any one else having a problem with fantasy section it wonβt update
- Edited
- OP MCs
- Stories that contain R18 with no warning
- Sadist MCs
- Arrogance
I don't like villianous MCs. I prefer gray MCs. That's why I don't like Reverend Insanity and Scarecrow and the Demon Lord of Terror
grimreaper906 Personally, I love villainous main characters, and if you'd allow me to try and change your mind on that, you should read I'll Show You A Villain. I do respect your opinion though.
mvrningkisses does it have a manhua?
grimreaper906 No, sadly.
mvrningkisses reading Korean web novels turns me off, something about the format
But I'll try it

Jia_K LIKE BRO IK JOHNNY LOOKIN MAD GOOD BUT HOMIE THAT'S NOT FOR YOU LIKE BRUH
grimreaper906 Imperial Asia is difficult for me to read even tho I'm Korean. Seeing what my ancestors did is painful, the novel itself is good.
Smut/sex scenes- and not having the chance to skip past it because the author wants to put key points for the story in those sections. Just have a chapter and label it so I can know and skip it. Or label it in your synopsis which is even better because then I'm not already hooked on a story. Yes, I have abandoned stories after 200+ chapters because it just became a sex show. I come for the story and character growth not the readable porn.
When the characters in a novel only serve the main characters purpose and have no actual depth. Deep seeded hatred for the lead but helping them out and laughing with them the next chapter? Where is the growth?
Dialog can kill a novel if it's too cringey or unrealistic. If it's in the synopsis, hey that just helps me avoid your work without wasting my time. It it's not, I'll find out in about 5 chapters.
Overexplaining characters looks or the setting. I don't need a chapter of repetitive wording to get the point or for you to continually drive the point in.
I hate [Harem], I mean, the MC generally ends up treating women like possessions he owns, it's insulting to an entire gender. Plus when you add too many characters to the story you can't really have good character development.
Another thing I avoid is [Romance], very few authors can actually make it work. It generally ends up being cringey and unrealistic. Like just about every CEO story on this site.
I don't mind OP MCs as long as the author has thought out the story before posting it. Though I imagine that very few authors on this site even know how to draw up a storyboard. The authors always end up being unable to deal with their own protagonists, it's a clear sign of a lack of proper planning.
I hate when they give the character some unnatural hair or eye color, like what's wrong with basic eye colors, brown, black, light blue, light green and so on.

Well if the story and its characters are under the:
1.Usual romance/love genre being rag-to-riches, love at first sight and other annoying stuff.
2. VERY very typical persona making like the MC being as damn rich CEO, owns their own Harem land and etc.
3. Along with their "happily ever after" or under action and adventure, "women is usually abducted by someone", "the hero saves the day/damsel in distress, again", "bad guys stay as villains since they are BAD." predictable plot.
4. No evident of character/s growth/conviction.
Might sound serious but I perceived those as boring and immediately delete them out of my reading list.
Friendly Tip: want to impress other people?Think outside the box. A sh*tty start is much better than doing the typical thing.
I hate pointless misunderstandings and extremely righteous female lead. Like seriously the author's try to make them come off as strong but they're just plain annoying.
Like this one female lead who needed money hence decided to act as a surrogate only to end up running with the kid. And the author was trying to make her look like a strong woman?!. What nonsense.
Who asked her to take the money in the first place!.
Like will it kill you not to draw conclusions easily.
Some are so blind to every good deed the ml does like seriously. It's not even as though the mls have crappy characters.
I also hate annoying children. I love child rearing novels but some kids instead of coming out as cute, they end up rubbing me the wrong way. I'm talking about the sort who try hindering the Ml from pursuing FL. Cute kids who act as shippers are the best. I give credit to priceless baby's super daddy. I love the little cutie.
I'm not to fond of overbearing CEO who is cold to everyone else but is a wife slave.Too much of a thing is a disease. I hate one-sided romance with ml doing all the loving. Once again shout out to priceless baby for doing it right and to Trial marriage need to work hard. It's clear the leads in this novel are fully engaged.
