DKQ Although I do agree with most of this, what's with the author manually tagging a chapter for [Vile Scenes Ahead]? That would look messy and stupid... You really don't expect in reading a Sword and Magic Novel with them just patting the blades and not actually slicing each other right? I bet you're one of those people that watched porn for the plot and not for s*x lol.

How would you describe a 'Text Wall of Information'? I started a novel and I have to include in this 'text wall' occasionally. How would you go about it if it was your work?

tooTired A better way to explain the text wall, Cultivation to reach a specific realm in cultivation and how to reach it, 1.5k words of just explaining this and going through 6 chapters ex. [The Mighty Realm (1)] up to [The Mighty Realm (6)]. Now, how about reading through 6 chapters of a cultivation realm that would be surpassed within several tens or hundreds of chapters later?

It is good to have detail but having too much can make the reader skip through that part until he reaches an interesting part. Being an author that is something you don't want to see and I am not experienced enough to point it out but as a 'Reader' I hate that part and would advise against it.

DKQ Ohhh that kind of vile scenes... then... dont read Sovereign of Blood for that HAHAHA (PS Lumpu i love you if you ever see this, you know who I am ;)

@DKQ I commend you, I've seen too many in the forums just complaining and dissing to an extent whereas it is ridiculous, and most of that has been in such fashion like a little kid throwing a fit, however, I see none of this here, instead I see a well informed mature individual simply stating how he/she feels about this situation. Thank you for Not being winy like many others.;,;.

what I don't want to see are the originals. fucking site's flooded with originals nowdays can barely find actual literature from recommendations anymore

yu_ba_bu_neng that is an issue for those who just want translates, which is why there are multiple forums stating that they need to separate translated novels from original novels. However, this forum isn't made to be about dissing original novels as a whole, (Correct me if I'm wrong @DKQ ) it's about asking original writers to be mindful of what they are posting (quality and such), and to not be disrespectful.

yu_ba_bu_neng the power rankings have completely separated translated and original. So you can go through all translated works only if that is what you desire.

Clicking on a tag will also reveal similar stories with the same tag, translated or original and rank them according to views. Translated will most likely have more views and be higher up in the ranking.

Hope that helps in your frustration in navigating

Lol. I have a pretty funny for others and sad for me story. So I have an original novel, called King of Hollywood, where I didn't follow the original plot for 11 chapters because I wanted to build the characters and develop how his new world is shaped. So one of my readers give me 3.5 because I didn't follow the original plot. I sat in the corner and cried for about an hour. JK. I wish Qidian had a system where reviews after a month disappeared so that... nevermind. I just sound salty... which I am! Anyone author had an experience like this?

                1. Copying is of course a no. If it is really a plagiarized work, we as readers, can only try to report it as such.

                2. Random love-interest the disappears - Wouldn't this be more of the inexperience of the author handling multiple women as partner to an MC? Or it could just be a plain power fantasy of the author to have obtained multiple partners that can/will coexist. Even translated work has this doesnt it. My only examples right now would be Strongest Abandoned Son (which I stopped reading), Shura's Wrath and MMORPG : Rebirth of the Legendary Guardian. Just to name a few that I can. These are not original works you speak of, but translated ones already. So I can't really say much about this complaint other than it exists elsewhere other than original works. =)

                3. Text wall of information - I think any author would try to avoid this type of exposition. But as currents authors here are not "professional" at it, we can only do the best we can with what we can creatively work with. I guess if possible, reader who will jump in to bother to slog through the walls of text of information will have their own take as to how it was delivered. As authors, we can only await any constructive criticism as a comment in the said chapter. It would be hard to sift through which wall of text you could be pertaining to if it is in the review. So maybe, just maybe, it can help in bettering an aspiring author/writer. =)

                4. Vile Scenes - I saw your comment below about a specific scene which caught you off guard. Granted, I myself wouldn't like to have experienced such. So maybe this is more to do with filtering or tagging system of webnovel. These type of works still have their audiences so you can't really say that they shouldn't be done. That's what I think.

                5. Quitting your work - This is more to do with the author and I understand, as a reader, the frustration of having 0 updates. But please understand, that right now, there is no monetary gain for the author and they are simply doing it whenever they can. Most, if not all, are juggling other jobs and tasks while trying to write out the story. Unless they can get a contract or mode of income from their work, I would suggest not to complain about this right now. But if the author is already contracted, then there is an expectation to deliver. My two cents on this matter.

                6. Rushing the masterpiece - Creatively, this can depend either on inexperience or the lack of any more story development that can be done (See 'Bleach' as an example for me). Though everyone wants to read a good story, we do encounter stories where we lose interest and drop it. I have personally dropped SAS at 594 chapters, Zhan Long at 800+ Chapters, Beauty and the Bodyguard at 300+ chapters and even MMORPG Rebirth even if that is done and completed here. Just examples where I felt that the stories were actually repetitive and dragging.
I think it is safe to say that as an Original Work author, we can only try our best and hope to meet readers' expectations and even sometimes surprise them. We aim to write and deliver a story we can be happy with.

Thanks for reading this post of mine. I personally like seeing interaction between authors and readers as most of them seem like an encouragement to continue with work.

Just dont completely Diss the work saying its bad. Try telling the author in a more neutral tone that he/she needs to work on these areas to try and improve as it is either ----- or -----. Who knows, he/she may be able to deliver after.

DKQ Where in the actual f*ck did you read that?
And how is that even a proper example, we're talking about Chinese light novels, right?
Not some messed up porn you watched..

ButterLover He was talking about some of the Originals on the website.

NineNeatherBird DKQ it sounds like you read Lump's novel...

Apparently, someone called 'Lump' must have included this sort of thing in their novel.

thesleepywriter my first reviewer gave me 1 star, like what the heck!? Btw. He's a no good peraon afterall. Try to look at my novel and see his nonsense review. Btw. He said that my novel has many grammatical errors but in his review it has grammatical errors too which is too funny to see hahahahah he's looking only on errors of other people but not on himself. https://www.webnovel.com/book/10478601505043005/Saga-of-the-Overgod
