Ok so I'm an editor for the original novel "He's the One" and the author and me have both noticed the new "views" thing on mobile versions of Webnovel. We were legit at 26k views (with only 26 chapters and barely 200 power stones ranking us in the top 40 original novels.) But today we noticed that we were now at 37k views with 26 chapters still, not even 3 days after. And like come on, what sorcery is dis? We're happy and all about it but how do the views thing even work? There can not be that many people viewing or even clicking on our novel. Like 11k in 3 days, especially since we are that low in the power stone rankings sounds like b.s. to me :/ Does anyone happen to know anything? I would ask Webnovel but I don't wanna waste time writing 50 polite emails for some half-assed response that probably won't answer my question. Oh and thank you for responding if anyone does :)

It depends, some counters tracks the number of visitors and/or pages seen. But based from the crappy app they used, they probably just install a hit counter. It counts how many times your novel been clicked. However, this doesn't accurately measure the number of readers, since it could be easily manipulated.

I don't think it's that strange. My novel is somewhere at 200+ in the ranking and I'm at around 10k views atm. I guess the higher you are in the ranking, the more views you get, since more people might click on it.

You get one view per chapter a reader looks at. So a novel's actual number of readers is usually far lower than the view count. It's how some novels can easily make it to 1m+ views. If you have 100 chapters, that's only around 10k readers.
