While I was Reading Webnovels..I found out that Recently It has become a Trend for Web Novelists..like they feel it is a guarenteed Formula that If you PRAISE CHINA,write CHINA IS BEST, IT IS CENTRE OF EARTH,CHINESE FAMILIES SPAN ALL AROUND MULTIVERSE AND WHAT ELSE!..Your Novel will make A Hole In Sky..
It is a recent Trend which is very harmful for Creativity..
I have Read Old Novels Like ISSTH,DE,ST and All..But I never Found Too Much Patriotiveness as I am seeing in Recent Webnovels. If Government is Oppressing Writers to Spread their Propoganda..they should speak about it and If it is Not So then they Should Stop Mixing This Real Life Bullshit in the Pure Imaginary World.
"THERE IS ALWAYS MOUNTAIN BEHIND A MOUNTAIN AND A MAN BEHIND A MAN"..It is good New Authors are Coming Up with Originals. I hope they Do not Succumb to this Rubbish Idea of Progressing Novel Through Nationalist Propaganda. There Are Oversea Readers too...Remember That! For No One would Like to See their Side always beaten..or Their Side Ignored!
Pure Knowledge and Imagination Is Always Impartial..This Fact should Be Kept in Mind while The Novels are Being Written.

Luckily the author still continues to write it eventhough he isn't getting traffic from China, since the translations still are marketable.

The big issue which comes at another time is they Kill the WORLD BUILDING.. How the Hell can a 10000 year old sea near any "Dragon Continent" can be called South China Sea? Kulha Not racism, its called a political agenda or foolishness by some authors (I may get some hate for this but). I dream't of Originals showcasing the culture and diversity of others readers through their engaging story-lines or bullshit(in a good sense). But what I see is just same copy paste names and mythos recycled in their own world. There is nothing unique and in a sense degrading to us and themselves. Only the the chinese cultural exist in their world with other being non-existent..... And I will also claim when a new culture is introduced, they will surely be backwards idiots or some kind of villain or oppressor.

UnhingedTaboo Don't really know about others since I don't have time to read, but in my Xianxia novel the MC is from the US and wants to change the culture he got reborn into. People can take the standard template like that and do their own twist on it. Using the names and words doesn't mean anything, they're just words.

Would you not love to read a viking or nord in the battle between Greek gods(Yeah!! take that Kratos). Or would you not love to see some Lovecraftian Gods fighting against immortals??

Hi, as a Chinese webnovel reader for 5 years, I'd like to explain it a little bit.
First, the nationalism and racism in webnovel hit its summit between 2000-2008. China was kind of weak then(the economy is worse than Japan and the US bomb our embassy). So the trend was "slaughtering Japan and annihilate the US" because people need to find some compensation in the fantasy world which they cannot get in real life. This trend quickly change after 2008. The newly translated novel on International QI is not necessary newly written novel. If you read a novel started before 2010-ish, it's likely to find some nationalism in the novel.
Second, the income of writer is directly from readers. Most of writers would not risk their bread to say something bad about China. If the reader don't like it, the number of your monthly ticket(monthly powerstone) and recommend ticket would drop dramatically and your income drop to ground. It's more a economic issue than a political issue. So even in new novels, it's hard to see author criticize China.

True_Seeker Most translators & editors here on Webnovel don't know what consistency & quality are. They keep on changing terms every few chapters & fail to edit even basic spelling mistakes.

I have encountered this nationalistic and racism trend several times already. I stomach it for some time, until I can't anymore.
Take "I'm Really a Superstar" for example. It was so super ultra nationalistic that I eventually dropped it, and it's still one of the more popular novels here in quidian international. I'm not Japanese or Korean, but when the mc starts to trash talk these countries I feel badddddd, and I'm not even the target of those insults ...

DaoMasterTianLong Actually it was the normal readers who support this kind of nationalistic web novels before 2008. The writer just wrote what they want. There is only one rule in web novel community: the writer is paid to satisfy the readers. If the readers are tired of these things, the writer would not write that (like what is happening now, the pure nationalism is not welcome anymore).
