Modern Day Cinderella

In today’s society, what type of person will you think of when the word “prince” is mentioned?

The literal meaning of the word, a prince with noble blood who seems regal and unreachable? Or, a pop star celebrity who you can see every day, shining brilliantly on the stage and in TV?

Or, do you think of some super rich CEO who dominates in his field and can easily make several million dollars with a single business deal? Or, is the first image that pops into your head that of a schoolyard “prince” who’s incredibly handsome and popular in college and has captured the heart of every girl within ten kilometers?

Stories between ordinary girls and princes are always capable of tugging at readers’ heartstrings.

He, is a noble, respected crown prince, inheritor to the throne, and has a regal upbringing.

She, is a poor girl who sells flowers on the streets, and can’t even afford three good meals in a day.

He, is a popular, household name superstar that everybody loves.

She, is just a third-rate actress barely scraping by and looked down upon…

Whenever an ordinary girl coincidentally has a meeting with a modern-day “prince”, perhaps they’ll fall in love with first sight, or leave each other with the worst impression possible. But, fate always ties them tightly together…

Perhaps they’ll be connected together due to an arranged marriage. What type of sparks will fly between the two?

It’s up to you how you want to write a story about a modern-day Cinderella, a love story between an ordinary girl and a “prince”!

(This writing prompt’s main genre will be romance, but other genres are permitted as well. It also doesn’t matter if your main character is the prince or the ordinary girl, and your target audience can also be male or female.)

Still, this week’s writing prompt will likely be of more interest to females. Next week’s writing prompt shall be aimed more at males. But of course, we warmly welcome male authors to participate in this week’s writing prompt as well!

The main topic of your novel should be the Modern Day Cinderella. Otherwise, it shall be treated as an invalid entry.
Your story entered in the contest must be your own original work, with the copyright held by you. No plagiarism is allowed.
The contest will take place from July 23th, 2018 to July 29, 2018 (GMT +8).
The story must not contain any racial or religious discrimination against any other cultures or their lifestyles.
Only newly-created original novels shall be allowed to enter the contest.
Webnovel reserves the right of final interpretation for all stories submitted in this contest.

          When will the winners of the first writing prompt contest be announced. I'm getting really nervous.

            lol I was to slow I just finished the last prompt today. I get messed up on dates since I work nights. Oh well.

            Gyihhuhu_ Rufus and Aerith? I prefer Zack and Aerith, that a poor Cinderella obtained a love from a powerful 1st class soldier in a modern world.

                I'm a bit worried that these quick prompts will over load the original content with a bunch of quick stories. Making it hard to find good long term stories.

                Qidian should hide the authors name until the voting ended + put an non disclosure agreement for that. Otherwise the author with the most popularity will win like last time even the content was much worse than others. This way it would be fair.

                  The only problem is the popular author tell their current readers to vote a new novels (If I am their readers, I wouldn't vote. This meant my current novel might get dropped if the new become even more popular. :D) This is what Bai do. However, how could you prevent people to promote? The internet was huge. If one pay a professional trolling/spamming/cloning team. It isn't hard to become a winner.

                  However, a good author even without vote playing could win. The example the first contest. Both 1st and 2nd winner is the same person Bai. He didn't need to cheat. He only needed to write and he had experiences (the contest entry was his remake of his previous popular dropped novels). That is what important.

                  Good Idea + Good Writing Skill. (This is hard.)

                  If you want to win easier, use "System" or Naruto. That is the start of best selling idea.

                  If you want to go to female romantic like this contest. Use Top(est) Superstar (Popular) or Number XX richest CEO in the world (Money). Something like that. Add abusive ex-boyfriend, broken family, and evil-love/career competitors (I don't think there is evil people. Everyone is a good people for themselves.). Make sure the main leader always helped the girl during her most dangerous torment but allow her to mature while watching her on sidelines. This was 100% proven formula.

                  (This Rabbink is secretly a fan of this genre, but I couldn't take a novel which the main character take a foster child or something like that. Anybody could suggest? I have checked the top ranks here.)

                          I just want to confirm. Since this is modern day Cinderella, Fantasy is out from the genre? If that is so, my idea is not cut out for this one.

                            Haizea Modern Fantasy? Gotham for example set in a modern world, but it was fantasy. @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL may need to clear this setting. Whether a fictional modern setting could be accepted, or perhaps in cultivation world but modern (similar to Castle of Black Iron for example. I think the world is modern with car, machine, factory, the people culture, etc.)

                                    MasterRabbink Bai asked for votes on the RTW competition and was giving them chapters for his novel. This is unfair to new authors who doesn’t have a fanbase like him. Bai said himself that he just did it for the money and then went away from Qidian.

                                    As I said, my idea is to hide the authors name for the competition and make an non disclosure agreement for participating. Anyone who will break this by promoting or leaking their fan fiction will get dropped out. It shouldn’t be technically hard to implement this feature for the programmers and also not hard to put in a non disclosure agreement in the competition rules.

                                        NextTrap The sad part, after he giving away, he emptied his chapter storage. And he went hiatus for a week. In short the reader didn't get extra chapter but early chapter. After that he went mad because of the stress of condemnation and pressured to release new chapter for patreon exclusive.

                                        I don't think many will use the method. Since there is no monetary benefit for this. The biggest benefit was promotion. Fox example, I use my contest entry to promote more reader for my main novel. If it was hidden, there is no use for old writer to give extra novels to WN.

                                        WN had never been clear about the rule. Whether it was Power Stone only (which if it is true, it is cheaper to pay some professional spammer). Or there are other metrics involved.

                                        I believe this week contest would have lesser participation. Most would see how the first constest rewarded.

                                        If it is based on Power Stones only the winner of 1st contest is a clones squad, it even managed to reach Top 50. At that time, new author could just hire professional cloners, so not make mistake like current amateur cloner, and vote in the constest to get front page promotion before launching a new proper novel. Your starting novel would start with huge promotion. It was key to popularity. Worth the clones. With just 200-500 power stones you would win the contest.

                                        If it was me, I would order my employees to install webnovel, vote everday for a week for work absence and voila I will win. All wouldn't be a clones. They all are real people.

                                          Just dropping in and wanted to ask a question:

                                          Does the MC have to be the "Cinderella"? What I mean is that must the MC be female and destitute, or can we work around with who inherits the "Cinderella" title?

                                            I'm just wondering whether its okay for the "Cinderella" to be like someone to be weak at first but becomes stronger in the long run and that's what attracted the so called Prince. She was ordinary at the beginning but in order to accommodate all the needs of her so called "step-family" she had to get stronger by her own.

They were so magnificent that people could kill to watch a prince take a poop. They were like the poop stars of the medieval age. This is why a good representation of a prince in modern times need to think of all these aspects.

                                              The story context:
                                              A yoktuber specialized in Vlogs centering around his public and private life has 200M subscriber (let's make him the most popular yoktuber who has ever existed). People love to watch how he lives, to see the scenery when he travels and think of themselves like a part of his life. On his Tipsy page the highest reward gives someone the right to watch him poop.

                                              The story:
                                              An undergraduate (with family problems and all the sh** that goes along) in acting is looking to start her career. Since she has been blacklisted (powerful family hating her, too beautiful so people want to sleep with her and she dares to refuse), in a fit of desperation she send a video on yoktube of her acting a queen from a popular drama. At this moment, through watching random trending videos, the "prince" see her video and wants to know more about her.

                                              (PS: The girl might first despise the "prince" since she might think it's dumb to see someone poop)

                                                Meidan that is Cinderella story. A bullied kind hearted girl suddenly get a magic. She turned into a princess.

                                                Some critics argued that modern Cinderella story is like Spiderman. He was a common Perter Parker who got a spider as his fairy Godmother. Suddenly he become a superhero who was loved by his love interest. That is modern Cinderello story.

                                                    MasterRabbink I remember a movie with title 'cinderella man' but the story is a boxer who makes the impossible become possible 😆.
                                                    I don't know if this kind of plot will also consider as 'cinderella' theme in this contest 😮
