What you are whining about is true, but your conclusion about sexism is - sorry - stupid.

I'd love a book with a strong female protagonist without romance, better even without romance, harem and sex.

But wtf has THAT to do with sexism? Are you stupid? Sorry. :-(

    • Not saying anything about this specific case but the "from" in an email is freely settable on spam servers. That is no proof at all.

      • I wish there was an option to either completely hide all reviews with images/gifs or at least these annoying pics.

        • I'd like to reread two books and I am pretty sure I have them in my Calibre, but I don't remember the titles.

          1. A FanFic where the female protagonist goes through multiple known web novels but she is always in a weird position. Like in "Reincarnation Of The Businesswoman At School" where she makes the original protagonist fail or in a zombie apocalypse book where she is the original protagonist, but a reincarnator steals the jewelry which contains a shop system. She ignores that and deals with the problems with magic. And so on. Any idea what the title of that book is?

          2. A very young monk comes into the medieval city. The story is written (or translated?) in a very poetic style and if you read it you will remember the descriptions of snow falling in the night. A fight between him and a girl on a bridge while the snow is falling was alone reason enough to read it again. A large part of the book reads itself like a poem, not from the words but from the mood. Anyone?

          • Ok, I now played it 6 hours and the fights kind of bore me. The last mini-boss fight was done with "auto-fight" because I was tired of doing the same attacks again and again.

            So: hype: off

            • Skaz replied to this.
            • If you are reading "Black Tech Internet Cafe System" and wondering a bit about the games, then you are like me.
I played Resident Evil (Resident Evil Relevations 2) and I played GTA5 and I like both, but most of the other games are alien to me.

So, currently there is a bundle for 2€ at Fanatical: https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/dynasty-bundle
Part of the bundle is "Chinese Paladin:Sword and Fairy 6".

I just tried the game for some minutes. Just the music in the start menu is great. The game looks great, the characters look great. I came here just to tell the fans of the Internet Cafe book about this game.
I so much wanted to try it. Now I am playing it.

Sorry, have to go and play/view/listen some more.

edit: if you get it and like it, tell me please.

                - Elixir Supplier
                - Fantasia
                - I am Really a Superstar
                - Almighty Coach

But the romances are not important for the story.

                • You did not say "Web Novels", so I'll include one you'd have to buy, I hope that is ok:
                  - Adventures of a Scribe (Amazon)
                  - Black Tech Internet Cafe System
                  - Dimension System (at least until my current chapter 109 it is without harem)
                  - Elixir Supplier
                  - Fantasia
                  - I am Really a Superstar (Just a normal relationship later in the book)
                  - The Legendary Mechanic
                  - The Mech Touch
                  - Monster Pet Evolution
                  - Almighty Coach (one normal relationship so far)

                  • If you want SF (with a bit of fantasy):
                    - It is Not Easy to Be a Man After Travelling to the Future
                    - The Legendary Mechanic
                    - The Mech Touch
                    - The God Virus
                    - Godly Model Creator
                    - Forty Millenniums of Cultivation
                    - Shadow Hack
                    - Galactic Dark Net
                    - The Gam3 (later books only on Amazon as far as I know, but this really good already)

If you just want "fantasy" with the meaning of not normal in this world, perhaps with a bit of magic or wuxia stuff or if you are already content if you get something with a system as long as the story is good, then please tell me, I'll give you another list of good stories then :-) (when I read here again)

                    • N0xiety Thank you, I did not expect it to be really just the translators not being able to translate numbers.

                      • TBSandNME Porn, harem, relationship, sex all these things are often bad for a story.
At least for my taste. I am sure that I am very alone with that taste because nearly every story has at least one of these.
I love stories where the protagonist is overpowered, unknown and without a partner of any kind.
I do not per se prefer female protagonists but it seems to me that a larger percentage of female than male protagonists are well written with more to them than just fighting through the main story, if there is a story at all.

                      • In nearly all web novels they get numbers wrong all the time.

I am not talking about calculations and a bad digit after the decimal sign.

                        I am talking about:
                        - 30'000'000$ on one page and 30'000$ on the next page.
                        - They drive for many hours with the car and then they are asked if they really drove all the 2km with a car.

These are just two recent examples I read, but there are really hundreds of them.

Why do these errors exist all the time? Even in books which are translated in really very good English?

Are the originals so bad because the authors just can't do any numbers? This is a crazy theory and I'd like it to be wrong because I think these authors are great people and I'd prefer them to be at least normal with calculations.

Or lays the problem with the translations? Then why exactly? Are Chinese numbers contextual and the translators did not really do something wrong?
Are Chinese numbers just difficult to understand and the translators, who translate the rest nearly perfectly, are not up to the task to translate these numbers?

There must be one reason which is valid for multiple authors/translators/books at once. What is it?

                        • Shuilan
                          Thank you!
I had to fast read until chapter 5 until I was sure. Yes, that is it.
Thank you! I checked ca. 150 books in my library and did not find it. I think I read it directly on a web site and forgot about it.

Har Har har! I am BACK! :-)

                          • I read part of a book some time ago. I don't know if I just don't find it in my ebook library or if I lost the bookmark, no idea. I don't remember the title.

                            • The protagonist plays a game but can get money and/or items into the real world.
                            • His body changes in the real world too.
                            • He has a system, which allows him these changes to body/transfer of items/money
                            • He knows events which will happen in the game, so I think he must have a second life or something like that, don't remember
                            • The book starts with him working in a building where cars are washed, he gets into a verbal fight with the son of the owner
                            • Later they wont to sponsor him, I think for golf
                            • ingame I think he starts as slave in a mine or something

Ok, do you have an idea what book that is?
