  • I think the idea itself is fine... though it is just milking us more, its still a company and they have to make money so not that surprised. What I am not fine with is that there will be novels doing less mass releases or reducing their current release rates to stockpile more chapters because of this.

Do not bother saying this will not happen. Because it already is happening. I find it quite the coincidence that The Legendary Mechanic suddenly went from 13 chapters a week to 7 a week 1-2 weeks ago. Consider my words empty if they do not jump in on this new system... but the the signs are there that they simply heard of this new model and started harming their normal release rate to stockpile more chapters just so they can jump in on this new system too.

That is kind of were I draw the line. That said I am still a sucker for the novel and will probably end up paying anyway. But that doesn't make me feel less abused.

    • kzat4 I have to agree on this one. I do not mind paying at all, I already paid a bit to keep up with some ongoing novels. However there are some novels that are already finished or that have 500+ locked chapters that get to a ridiculous amount of money so I simply do not read those.

Those novels happen to be ones I would definitely give a try and read if they were 10 or 20 bucks but instead I end up simply not spending on those at all because the cost is too staggering.

If there would only be an option to pay a certain amount for a novel to be able to read all current and future chapters for 1 set reasonable price.

Or even better.. paying like 500 bucks to read an unlimited amount of novels for a lifetime. I would definitely jump on that one as I spend hours reading every day, it would pay for itself in no time.

      • The comments displayed under the chapter are very distracting. It completely breaks immersion when you are moving between chapters and ruins the reading experience. If I want to read comments I prefer opening them like before the update.

It is especially glaring if the top comments happen to contain emoticons. I hope you will rollback this part of the update as its really ruining the reading experience.

        • I guess it is one of those type of novels that people either like to the fullest or dislike a lot. Those who like it a lot keep spending their stones on it like fanatics. Rating being 3.8 is simply because even if people like it a lot and post a 5 star review its easier to pull ratings down than up. For every 1 star review you would need multiple 5 star reviews to get it close to 4.0

Anyways, just give it a try and decide for youself. At most you will lose a bit of time reading it.

        • As people mentioned above, just do not unlock chapters and get caught in the loop of having to spend spirit stones all the time. The chapters come out for free but just at a slower rate. I understand it can be hard to control yourself if you are in the middle of an exciting arc, but if you just be patient and stop when you reach the locked chapter you will not find yourself running out of spirit stones or having to wait weeks before you get the next " free" chapter since you already bought so many locked chapters.

And for those who can afford the spirit stones, spend them by all means, what are you even doing here? >.>

        • I got 13 twice since the start of 2018 according to my spirit stone history. ( checked in every single day)

          I have never gotten a 6, lowest I got is 7.

          • I do not think its that weird... its not like you can vote on everything... the sypnosis seems catchy enough and its a new novel so people spend some time reading, check comments and see the vote thing in the sidebar and think, might aswell vote.

I doubt people spend an evening reading a novel and then go back to the power ranking or their library to click another novel and take special care to vote for a specific novel every day... I feel like the vote button is more used as a "like" button... people read something new, smack that vote button and because you do not have any more votes other novels drop in ranking untill you caught up to that latest chapter and the novel enters the back of your mind untill the next time you catch up... at least thats how it is for most binge readers.

So once the hype drops and the binge readers got their brainfood they will spend the votes on whatever they are reading next and the rankings will slowly sort themselves out... if you based power rankings on monthly votes instead of weekly I bet it would look totally different. It would at least drop a few ranks.
