On average they are 10-12 SS a chapter. So 5020SS to 6024SS which translates to close to 150AUD or 110USD. I picked this book cause I might start using SS to read it.

        Lyle_Walt Ads revenue couldn't compare to a paid SS. Try to find the rate of ads. For example, just a simple Google Search showed you get $2 per 1.000 views (Youtube ads value. Hank Green medium.com, Google is one of the company with better target ads. Some said $5~8/1.000 view.). Each view was $0.002. Some factor also involved about the rate.

        Just to pay $4 cost for a chapter (if Webnovel just purchase old chapter) = 2.000 readers.

        If it is a new translated chapter. You should check the cost for translating a chapter. +- 1.000-2.500 chinese words.
        Based on Fiverr: $5 for 250 words. (Translator here received less). That would be $20 to $50 per chapter (I don't know how much translator here received, perhaps $10/15? since each novel had many chapters and different words count.).

        If it was $20/chapter at $0.002/view. They need 100.000 readers watching ads to pay translation cost of a chapter. They had to pay staffs, developers, maintenance, and the Author. Ads would never be enough if they had to produce the product.

        If it was just hosting, ads would be more than enough. Google and Facebook could live with ads since they had a 'big' amount of users.

              Welp, the moment this thing comes into fruitation is the moment I say ciao to this platform. I admit I do inject a few tens of dollars once in awhile whenever I get all hyped up about a novel. But cancelling off the free chapters ticks me off, especially with novels that have a shit ton of fillers in between where there are times I just let run thru 10 or so chapters before skipping them and continue reading. I aint paying for that kinda shit. No free chapty? I'm out.

              Its a shame actually i really liked the way they did scrolling between chapters. I loved the free chapters which allowed me to be exposed more novels and potentially buy. I had 3 in my library that i would have begin reading in the near future, but having had to drop 6/7 of my fav novels i have dropped these as well. Thus the potential exposure it could have had (and possibly buying ss to read it is) is now gone.

              It really boils down to greater exposure with more occasional buys or less exposure with more dedicated buys. I thought the free daily chapters was actually a perfect middle ground.

              Mmwada Yes. I can confirm that new chapters are not available for Swallowed Star and Library of Heaven's Path... even though the translators have continued to crank out 1-3 chapters daily for this site.
