Author wants money and fairness for the chinese readers who pay
@WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL wants money and for that need readers who are historically not willing to pay (translators website, self shared books and now piracy)
Readers wants free ability to choose whether to pay or not and/or fairness regarding the price paid on webnovel and the one chinese readers pay.
Quick summary but it should be somewhat accurate.
And... nothing about what the translator want? 
Maybe they should also cutdown the writers exploiting the wordcount=ss. I dont know how many chapters in a single novel are worth skipping (and still you wouldnt have missed anything) Seriously are most chinese authors so long winded but basically saying nothing?

Well, how about better SS prices. At the current price of a chapter or novel you'd better buy hardcover books at the bookstore.
akuma06 except chinese unlocks for chapters are about 5% of what webnovel customers are asked to pay. The money to SS conversion is outrageous and at current prices I will never pay a dime

I agree. I know Chinese authors get paid by word count. But it's a bit ridiculous when there's chapter after chapter of filler. Especially common in Cultivation novels where they go on and on about their mediation breakthrough, or list alchemy ingredients.
Plus there's the continued repetition. We already know that Mega Emperor Realm beats Grand Mud Puddle Realm, so no need to repeat it every time an encounter happens.
I just want to ask some questions, First it has been half month(16 days to be exact) since the last free chapter of "every" premium novel was released, did the regulation of "free premium chapter a day" has been cancelled?, Second slowly every novel in Qidian be it Original and Translated will be a premium Novels, what the use of this site if "every" chapter will be locked and we must pay it when i can buy the book itself in online market?
Yeah they even locked some chapter that already free. I Mean you can locked future chapter and have a discussion about it but now even some novel that already open for 500 chapter get locked again till only 100 chapter
akuma06 Chinese Qidian Readers pay less than International Reader pay Webnovel for each chapter. My calculation is using many assumption, but their price is around ten times cheaper. We need someone who could check Qidian to see the 'real' difference.
Muhai Yes. It has been cancelled. While the official status is on-going negotiation with Chinese Authors, we should imagine the worst.
Not all Original will go premium. When you go premium, you contracted your novel to webnovel (the same like you contracted to traditional publisher). Some authors wanted the freedom to publish outside webnovel. Like self-publish in Amazon, iBook, Google Book, etc. (Face it, current webnovel readers base is still too low. While their promotion outside Last Wish System is still lacking.)
Some would prefer to have their own sites, etc. For example, I think fanfic book would never be contracted. The same for Erotica book. For example The Idle System author had rejected the deal.
Your second question. This site will be a place to sell a novel (imagine this as a bookstore instead free library, Do you read for free in Amazon?). This is why exclusivity happened. I don't think Webnovel would publish many book on Amazon. So you could not purchase Library of Heaven Path in Amazon soon. Their method is premium. You can use free SS to read only 1 PREMIUM book while tempting you with other book.
AJ_ Chinese Authors and their agent (Qidian) demanded Webnovel (Qidian's child company and international publisher) to using Qidian method. Free chapters is considered lost sales for them. What could you do if you parents told you something? Rebelled?
MasterRabbink Because the SS are ridiculously expensive. Say you have a novel with 1000 chapters at 12 stones a chapter, that’s $240 to read 1 book lol
Velixar Yes, in fact this Rabbink made a calculation about the pricing. Based on my assumption We are ten times more expensive than Qidian (Webnovel's parent company). Still the ads is only worth 1/7 Chinese SS, not enough for the standard 10-11 charged there.
So yeah, as a readers you can vote/force the change with your wallet. If there were many people who give money to WN, then the complainers are only the vocal minority. While Silent Majority agreed with the pricing.

The old premium system wasn't bad. Just some minor changes and imo they could've made much more money and customers would still be satisfied.

3. change premium chapters to advanced chapter like it was via patreon, so premium readers won't be hundreds of chapters ahead of ad watchers
I just cannot believe that ads are so bad if you get the right numbers, otherwise there wouldn't be so many youtubers. Currently most ppl use free SS and they don't earn anything for free SS usage, except for watching the one ad for free SS. Most novels get hundreds of comments per chapter in a few hours after release, so there are lots of readers and potential ad watchers.

You will scream if you want to read 20 to 30 chapters. That is 20-60 ads. There might be not that many ads available too.

It is cheaper to make some youtube video. A hand phone and you are done. Only top Youtubers earn money for living. (Beautiful actress, song, etc). 1.000.000 views usually would net you $2 (some said 1, other said $5~8).
If you looked into low ranking novel. Most would be dropped if based on ads only. Each translation cost ~$30 minimum.
Youtube, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc could work with BILLION of users.
MasterRabbink I think you made another mistake, if 1 million youtube views net you just $2, then there would be no youtubers. As even the top youtubers with 10 million views in each of their videos would be earning $20 per video. Lol no, 1 million views net you anywhere from $200 to $1000 depending on your content and how 'ad friendly' your video is...

And I think you are underestimating ad revenue. Mobile ads have increased drastically in popularity in the last 5 years. Whereas you got maybe 1$ eCPM (cost per 1000 viewers) for reward ads in 2013, you can get 15$ now. It's now even more attractive to most developers than selling the app in the play store or instead of ads, implementing an ingame shop. That's why you'll very often see ads, despite the app already having an ingame shop.
There are a lot of different factors which determine the eCPM , like the length, is it skippable, has it completed, android/ios, which country, which ad platform/offerer, time of year and so on... The eCPM for reward videos, which you have to completely watch, can range from anywhere between 2$ to 20$ depending on those factors. Especially in 1st world countries they are rewarding, ranging from 10-17$ in average.
Reward videos, like here, are one of the most profitable ads. I don't know exactly how much a chapter costs for Webnovel, but if you estimate e.g. 40$, then it would be totally possible to get it back with maybe 3000-5000 views. Hard to say exactly, since the community is spread over the whole globe. So it's totally possible, that you'll make a profit with new chapters in the first day and let's not forget the long term revenue for new readers picking up old novels. Additionally Webnovel will probably publish re-edited versions after they are traslated completely.
