N0xiety Ikr! How is this novel even so highly rated? It's basically a filler paradise and the worst kind of wish fullfilment novel i have ever read! It's repetitive af and requires you to shut down the part of your brain that governs over logic... It's a miracle i even lasted up to chapter 123 before my tolerance ran out haha! It's not just highly rated in Qi tho. It's even very highly rated in novel updates! It seriously baffles me... And then we have novels like Assassin's Chronicle that gets literally no attention. It's actually a pretty good novel but it's just crawling at the bottom for some reason. I guess general public is just more into brainless stuff that doesn't need any thinking..

Look at Feng Xia novel ratings (TTNH, OEM and co) and they all are under 30 mostly.

Or Mao Ni books

Or Spirit Sword mountain

Or freaking Er Gen books

But no, let's make random face-slapping and cheats the top spot. Why not?

Luta Well, tbqh Er Gen books start great, develop great but then at some point become too draggy and repetitive. I dropped ISSTH like around 1000 chapters...

Luta Sigh Mao Ni novels are so good, but they're really down in the rankings, everyone says his novels got a slow pacing but i think they just perfect.

PiedritaNegra Mao Ni novels really do have one of the worst pace i have seen. Ze Tian Ji is a great novel but it's so goddamn draggy. It wouldn't be too much of a problem if the translation was fast but even 1ch/day speed doesn't cut it. The story barely moves forward because of how draggy the novel is with such translation speed.

N0xiety I think the ZTJ pace is good, because it goes with the personality of the MC, and, at least for me, the beginning is really good, because I was so bored of the MCs becoming OP so fast, fighting for all kinds of places, and offending young masters and sects. This novel gave me something new, and since then, i fell completely in love with Mao Ni novels
Also for the novels here, Joy of Life or The Path Towards Heaven (especially this one), they are not so slow, and i like how in the former the pace was neither fast nor slow.

First I would like to tell my sad story. I read this novel called A Thought through Eternity( Er Gen) and got addicted to the feel so I want more. At the time I was only getting my novel recommendations from mangaupdates(and still do sometimes) and eventually I found, World of Cultivation ( Fang Xiang) and fell in love all over again with an entirely different feel but before I found that there was something in between....something I like to call the gag of all gags for all these xianxia novels. The ultimate reincarnation is that of a librarian. Library of Heavens Path has that overpowered in a minute Achilles heel. I read up to the start of the kids competition before he ofc beats that Lu guys butt. I read LOHP sporatically between novels it is that novel for me where you skip mass amounts of the chapter content to hear his long explanation of why he's right and other dude is wrong. Or maybe just waiting for that time which he panics cause he cannot activate the library to tell him what he needs to know (his excuses sometimes are gold and his solutions to things kill me). So basically for the ultra rich comedy that is built on a cliche that takes forever.

IMHO spirit sword mountain is guilty of bad comedy (I never laugh at their antics only when lady master f's up is anything ever funny to me). Though the story is very intriguing so it wins as a serious novel in my book and deserves to be looked at only when I'm in the mood for it not to mention I don't read the novel but the web comic cause that's how I started and I'm gonna finish it, in full color!!

Also the reason I mention those two novels start is because while looking for something like the other I found LOHP which led me to an even greater novel so I am forever grateful to its existence.

Lastly the Mao Ni problem....what can I say Ze Tian Ji literally annoys me to death because of a damn dragon. After the dragon incident, I couldn't find any traces of it like 200 chapters ahead and only mentioned the dragon during combat.... I'm like wtf!!! And rage quit on the novel. Yes the slowness of that story progression in my actual reading i never felt but then when i wanted to know something it became glaring clear something was wrong. I will go back to it when I cool down but its been almost a year and I still ain't cool. Also joy of life is my shiz though have not raged out yet because it's not even translated up to 150 yet so...

I can't take this sheet anymore... Time to drop this one. Too bad though, it was so good from the beginning. Now they just force stupid events just to make things "funny."

SeraphiMaelstrom exactly, I also think the same.
It was good at first, then they start to introduce random people offending and 'logic breaking' chapter just for filler.
At first the MC was agreeable and you can relate, but it's going down the plot hole each time.
It's like MC lost his value from his previous life and just become and ordinary citizen of the cultivation world with some cheat.
