I wanted to create a separate thread but I came here.
The idea of reviewing their stories is not bad. For example, I provoked the author of top 50 with my review. This is stacked with fake reviews. Help me bring it down from the top 100!

Can I stab every fanfic writer with a lawsuit?
Daoisthentai am I the only one that read novel translation than FF and original?
its a good suggestion
FujiCigarette good post, but why would you link to the rabbit hole (endless link loop) that is TVTropes!?
KoraL I thought we would start the web novels police. When heavens are not just! We must become justice for the future!
Sometimes I lose my mind though. Better than wasting time on these novels, we could support real authors there! I don't know what to do because whatever we do. It's useless because these people are not rational.
The real essence of original novel is now gone because all we do is copy or go into those mainstream stuffs. There are a lot of novels that are clearly original buried underneath the piles of fanfictions. I'm not fond of reading fanfictions because I much prefer something new and fresh. I pity those authors whose books are buried underneath these piles.
All fanfics should be deleted from web novel. If they cannot handle separating them, they should delete them. It's actually good for their business because I doubt any of "author" of fanfics will ever get the copyright to make money on the fanfics. Contracting the fanfics is out of the option. So why it's still there? It won't bring any money? It's only making, the possible contracted artist lose chances of being popular. I really like this site but their policy is really bad.

I have several original stories that I'm writing, here and on other mediums. I also have a fanfiction that I've enjoyed writing. I think it meets your standards of "originality," in the sense that the cast and plot are my creations. I just love the world the original content takes place in. What's your opinion on that?
J_Tyler It's not like all fanfics are bad and so on. There is one ranking for fanfics and originals. Mb fanfics have some originality in it but it's not original. Imagine yourself one test in school and you are doing everything by yourself and you get 5 points but the person next to you is cheating and gets 7 points. Both of you are judged by the same grading but you put all your sweat and blood into getting these points and the second person just cheated and got more points than you. How are you feeling?
Let's say you love "Naruto" world and you write fanfic in it. As a writer, you can predict that some part of Naruto fanbase will come and read your fanfic.
People that write originals don't have such easy start. Talking about what is easier. It's obvious that writing fanfic is easier. You need to meet their expectations for your fanfic. You cannot change their characters. That's a load of bullshit. The original writers don't need to meet expectations but the problem is that they need luck to actually have anyone read their stories. Original ranking spammed by trashy fanfics is taking their chance to get readers.
Another thing is that 70% of fanfics here is really low quality. So your chance was taken by a cheater and this cheater is really bad. How do you? I would be really angry you know :D
Daoisthentai I can't even press back and not exit the forum. You're asking for too much Hun.
SnakeWarrior123 Come on give this guy a cookies !
KoraL lol.... its cause i have this rule when visiting wiki type sites with links hidden all over the place....
and that rule is: if you are in the page that you are looking for..... then stay on that page
Hello! Just discovered this thread. I read fan fiction AND original writing. I also think that while fan fiction may be MUCH easier to write, well-written fan fiction is still very enjoyable! But yeah, I agree, they should either have a separate section or just not allow fan fiction. Why? Because I didn’t come here for fanfics. I came to webnovel because I wanted a xianxia/eastern fantasy story. If I wanted fantasy/litRPG, I would have gone to royal road legends. If I wanted fan fiction, I would have gone to fan fiction . net or archiveofourown. Also, if I’m in the original section, I’M NOT LOOKING FOR FAN FICTION. IT’S IN THE NAME. ORIGINAL. Yep.
Keep this thread alive!

Daoisthentai As long as it's marked fanfic, there's really nothing we can do. I understand where you're coming from, and I don't think WN should move all of the fanfictions to a different site, but maybe have two folders in the discover. One for original novels, one for fanfiction and the like. Personally, I don't read or write fanfiction because I think the original work is better, but I still don't think shoving fanfic writers away like they're a different species is going to solve a whole lot, either.
SnakeWarrior123
Don't do it. U might get attacked by an army of zombied fans of Naruto, dragonballs and fairy tails. That's too dangerous and u may also get banned. There are threads regarding spams. And in serious on the last part.
REVIVE!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!!!!
JunkieOverThe_Moon I fought with some of them. Most of these people are just brainless and it's waste of time. I think my dog is more intelligent than these people. I met some people with real opinions and I stopped doing these reviews after. "Do what you want...This is the WN you want...I am too tired to stop you." This world doesn't need heroes, this world needs monsters to do the right thing because heroes are too hypocritical to do anything right.
JunkieOverThe_Moon There is no point in doing anything with them. Let's wait for Darvin's laws to work. The best thing we can do is wait. WN cannot leave it like this or they will start losing money.(Money is king.) So fanfics will disappear or separated someday.
While I would agree with what you said. Originals do deserve their own categories but to say Fanfics are just run of the mill unoriginal work would really undermine what people write about.
I’m not supporting those who literally copy paste an original anime scene word to word with the exception of throwing their OC in the mix of it all. To further make it annoying some of them are reincarnated and they act all happy and chummy to fit in that specific worlds. That honestly makes me sick. If your OC is just gonna follow what the main character of the original anime would be what's the point. So yeah I support what you say.
But there are few very good Fanfics that are mostly AU. Sure they start of with same world but you could see a massive difference in characters their personalities and how the writer portrays it. Calling them unoriginal is a bit too much.
Just cause you have the same world does not mean you cannot make something original out of it. There are a million different ways things could in the same world affecting everything.
Just depends on what the writer is looking for. For me those who make everything look fine and Dandy about anime worlds and rinse and repeat the same plot over and over is where I draw the line
I.Love.Fanfictions
SnakeWarrior123
Yea, I hope they do. I will ve happy but its pretty bd and heartbreaking to see ur own hard work be undermined by some shit.
Yea, waiting is the only thing WR can do but WN is shit too. I don't think they will do anything unless they lose a HUGE percent of their revenue.
I'm thinking of making a fan fiction, but altering a lot of things. I'm currently drafting the story in my head, and so far I believe it could be decent.
To follow up on the original topic of the post, I agree somewhat, I do believe there should be some imagination put into a fanfic to make it interesting. However, I also think that BECAUSE it is a fanfic, it could also be fan service.
Depends on who is writing it and the effort put in.
At least those fan-fictions are saying what they are, they can be trash or good, but they are honest. However, some "Originals" don't even use that genre to describe themselves even when they are leeching a huge amount of content from another anime/manga/novel/movie/game. For example this thing:
https://www.webnovel.com/book/12608498505111905
Called Bloodborne, and yes, you get it, the game from From Software. The author shameless uses tons and tons of locations, personages, monsters and even situations a player can encounter but it is not fan fiction. No, it's an "Horror&Thriller". Yes, that would be the genre of this novel, if it wasn't totally copied on a quite known game. It's like I do a novel about Link in any Zelda game, let's take Twilight Princess. I write about the village, the transformation in wolf and my behavior in the game, the fact that I start by that temple and not that one. That I die against cuckoos because I didn't know about it, ect ect.
I already despise fan fictions quite a lot, mainly because most of them are the wet dreams of teenagers and end up in Harem that I hate but when I see the term fan-fictions, I don't even bother to read. But I am certain that I don't know every movie/book/game and I may begin to read a novel that is a blatant copy of another work not even deemed as a fan fiction just because the author didn't even respect the rule. If someone doesn't know BloodBorne, he can think that this author is talented.
What innovation says. ^
I already said that i don't care about existence but fanfic authors will never understand how hard is it to create something from 0. NO FANBASE, NO WORLD NO CHARACTERS NOTHING...only your imagination and a lot of hard work. People try to argue about this and that...It's the same as popular author write the novel...some people will just read it because it's his work...
REVIVE!
Personally I don't like FF at ALL!!
I mean come on! Can't think of what to write? Don't just scam the characters and world of another type of media like anime, manga, etc. and make a FF about it. If it's s good quality anime, manga, etc. let it stay that way! Don't try to bulls**t the story and make up something that isn't even thought out.
Original writers who put thought and effort into creating a world and unique characters are more valued in my opinion than some FF writer with no imagination.
My rant on this post is pretty short compared to others because I've avoided FF.
To all those who write FF, please just publish it somewhere else where it's FF based.
Yuyumamoru have you seen a fanfic novel become a premium? Just curious.
as one of the early posters on this thread... and seeing how new posts are majorly most about how utterly unimaginative and how FF writers should feel bad about themselves, i feel bad for them and for the posters too..
ive read a tonne of fanfics man... so many bad fanfics that made me raging mad and also fanfics that made me enjoy the fandom a lot more...
a lot of people seem to only see the bad side of it, and its true mostly because the good ones are very hard to find but they do exist....
a lot of people also seem to keep saying that there are no writing skills involved in writing FF.... like WTF shit are you smoking, it specially takes great skill in writing to write good fanfics thats why you dont see good ones a lot...
and you seem to keep forgetting that stories that contain some type of mythical lore about gods and stuff are fanfics in of itself that are based on works that have existed... no matter how original you may seem to think an original novel is, there are elements in there that uses a lot of things that have been written by someone else....
but yeah... there are a lot of bad fanfics... and i mean a lot..
this just proves that for a site like this that originated from eastern web novels should also follow in it and not accept western style fanfics...why did i specifically point out western style?
its because ive read a few fanfics made by chinese authors that have a few translated chapters and i would like to see more of them....... FFnet already has a tonne of FFs written in the style of western authors and im sick of em at this point.
I don't care if the FF is good or bad. It's derivate works, and that term is fairly well defined. A separate section is definitely needed.
For two reasons.
One is covered extensively in this thread. It's about to what degree FF is original.
The second one is my pet peeve. I have to label my work as belonging to a (commersial) genre. OR I could write FF and land all over the place.
FF needs a separate section anyway in order to sub-label the stories? Is it a romance, sci-fi, mystery, thriller, you-name-it?
StenDuring if you are talking about the power rankings... then yeah, its unfair for the authors for their work to be competing for attention with fanfics as the power rankings have a huge impact when it comes to getting readers and should have a different power rankings with fanfics and fanfics should have a label in their thumbnails saying fanfics instead of originals...
anything else is labeled properly cause when you go to a fanfic novels synopsis page you will clearly see that it is under fanfics, and there are also fanfic tags already available....
dont know why qidian categorizes fanfics and originals in the same rankings.....its easier if they had a different ranking for it as different readers will go to what category they want and the way it is now just generates problems
FujiCigarette I was actually thinking about how a separate section to a certain degree would benefit both original works and derivate works.
Assume you write FF (I don't think you do, but anyway). You drop your latest in the section for derivate works and are given a few labling options which, for rather obvious reasons, are unavailable for the rest of us. You get to properly pick a genre AND you get to state which original work yours is a derivate of.
Two weeks later a happy reader of Naruto FF is able to find your work among all other Naruto derivates AND can pick it out among the romance stories there.
FF writers get a more powerful tool and writers of original works don't get that label diluted. Win-win.
FujiCigarette Yeah, I agree. I really like fan fiction! I also agree, however, that they should have a separate section here

slaps the back of the dying thread
Me: This thread right here ain't dying.
My thoughts... I think even separation is hard to implement. They could just not tag it as Fan Fiction, completely dodging the bullet. No one can stop anyone from voting them, too. I think I saw a few, but I won't mention them.
escapes like the potato I really am
randomgal23 I like fanfictions, but there's too many **** ones down there, it's too hard to find any good ones. And for original authors, if they keep a good uploading schedule and have a good plot, good grammar, have an overall good book, they'll stand out very much. It's just the people that upload originals for fun that are getting drowned.
TheBlips I'm pretty sure they can't become premium, not even good ones, I think. I remember an author, I think it was the "Harry Potter and the Prince of Slytherin"'s that wanted to get his premium, and the Webnovel people were like, nope. Oh well. If it was premium, I would stop reading it since I barely ever have enough SS for anything
NihilisticBeauty I think some of the fanfics do deserve premiums tbh if they are goood ones. Don’t get me wrong their are far worse ones then good but I’ve read a few that are complete AU. They might take place in the said universe but do deviate from it a lot. Just because it’s not original don’t mean it’s bad.
Most FF authors who make everything about their wet dreams and massive harems can well go burn themselves. Others deserve credit for what they can do with a Ff world and change it massively yet still make others love it
Aye. Wish fanfic was separated from originals. Nothing against fanfic but when I want to read originals I dont want to sort through the 100+ naruto fanfics
