  • 【Important Announcement】Monthly Elite subscriptions adjustment

Letˋs face it... Webnovel is just extremely expensive. For around 600SS you pay like 10€ ...with 10 SS that like 17 cents you pay for a chapter while each chapter probably fits on 2 pages of a normal book you by a book with just 120 pages for 10€ ... that‘s quite a lot in my opinion.

veinglory Yes, but the subscription allowed everyone to read anything they wanted without having to worry about running out of stones.

Floofuzz I completely agree. Where I come from you need to notified 30-90 days before it is cancelled.

I am extremely disappointed with you again Webnovel/Qidian. Since your a large company I’m not going to hold back on my critique. Do you really think that the statistics from 2 months will stays the same after stopping the Elite subscription? Are you really that stupid? You are going to see a sharp decline in your readership on the novels, especially the comics. The gifts will drastically decline but I’m sure you are very happy about that because this was what you hadn’t anticipated happening when you set up the program.

$24.99/month for membership was already very expensive. It’s more expensive that Hulu, Netflix and even premium Crunchyroll. So again you are only thinking about you own pocketbooks and not about your consumer/us. We are the one who feed you without us you are nothing. You have taken authors from everywhere and bound them to you, which is sad, forcing a monopoly. Since your in China I can’t do much about that. I have also been your consumer for a lot longer than my profile says. Your program was very hard to use in its early days, so it was easier to continue use the internet.

Breaking your contract in many countries is unlawful but let’s skip that. Again you have broken your word. And you gave us NO warning that this was a temporary program or that you were going to cancel this program. Imagine my surprise when I went online and saw I had to pay for a chapter! Extremely nasty of you. You didn’t even have the courtesy to send a notification to me!!! I started searching to see if there was a problem with my Apple Pay. It took me a while then I found this comment in the forum. Imagine my surprise to see the program stopped!

Your plan was very clever. Use the subscription to get people to read uninhabited and get addicted to lots of stories and comics. Then when you cancel they will have no excuse but to pay up the spirit stones. I’ll just go back to reading my few favorites and fill my time with art and iBooks.

Oh and maybe I’ll start another Facebook campaign.

Overall this is going to hurt the income of all the authors for a while. Many people would gift extra to favorites, that will decrease now. Many off the lesser known authors got new readers as well, now going back to SS only many don't have the extra to spend on them so they now get to be forgotten....

I wonder. I am honestly thinking that since I can't spend my 33sgd on this subscription anymore. Should I route some of that money and buy fake 1 star reviews for the app so that they start listening to us. Hmmmm

Addic Except that is not what happened. The only pissible way for an author's income to drop from the premium plan is if it is interesting enough to want to read but not interesting enough to gift SS's too. The authors that saw an increase in income were being rewarded by their fans while the ones that lost income were shown what people really thought of their work.

At $25 a month the subscription was just barely worth it. No premium plan is a slap in the face to the readers as SS's are too expensive for the returns; especially given they reward useless filler such as showing the same "data screen" over and over again.
Plus the change was hidden. This is my first time visiting the forums and I only did so to learn where the premium plan went. So I will now never spend a cent on Webnovel and only read 1 or 2 stories as the free SS allow.

veinglory well poteto potato, if it's as you say, then why the rush to bring more novel? why the rush to facilitate new author? they should think about expanding when they have enough fanbase, if we as first bach of subscriber should shoulder their expenditures, wouldn't they would ransacked tons of money when their fanbase growth rapidly? while we as the side that shoulder the most got nothing? wouldn't you agree the 3 side (webnovel, author or translator and first bach subscriber) should shoulder their expenditure equally? if they truly lack funding, why swallow more than they can chew? hilarious how they want dominate webnovel translation scene without proper 'funding'

wouldn't you agree your argument only benefiting their side without thinking about our side as the one who gave them 'funding'

the real example swallowing more than you can chew

stop wasting your time brother, if they truly lack of funding they can deploy tons of ways to get it, such as using proper ads here and there or advertising their app more to rope more user, but raising price and decreasing benefit for their loyal member was a shallow move with lack of insight (welp i hope the new subscription scheme didn't goes like this, we'll see)

BieyTrace just search the novel you want to read on Google and enter the site that doesn't have webnovel in it.

I was so sad when I finally learned that I could no longer renew my premium subscription plan! I have around 40+ novels and comics on the app, and like some users mentioned before, I also donated all my spirit stones because of the subscription... 😢

I do hope we will have another plan soon! I really like this app and it pains me to give up on the stories...

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Perfect example of price gouging at its finest. Unpaid fans started translating, they can and will do it again. You’re poisoning the well by doing this and offering a perfect opportunity for someone else to take over. I.E. a Chinese company can’t actually do anything to enforce free tranlation distribution in many other countries, at most people will just start setting up short term sites that host them for free or with ads. Your consumers are NOT paying for your translations, they are paying for ease of use, all the novels on your site are free somewhere else and always will be. Being the legal face means you can be the one stop place for novel translations, but price gouging your customers will make them spend a few extra minutes to find the lastest hosts of what they want to read.

oceanshore I feel you.. I have a around 40 above comic and novels but i can only read 2 or 3 daily.. i can only use the reward given.. Its broke my heart cause i like to reread everything that i read..
