Puncake Simple, I don't speak Chinese.
Why are Chinese authors so bad at math?
StenDuring I go for realism.
FilledWithHope Since you like math, how about number checking this story?

Yeah, it can get very confusing... like they traveled to this place for six months, fought with that group for another six months, traveled again for 1 year, then spent 3 months finishing this task. And then at the end of it all it says they've been away for 1.5 years. Huuuh??? Sometimes I wonder if it's the author or the translator/editor who's at fault.
SorcererCat Not to mention that in some novels the MC teleports 1000 miles because of some skill to demonstrate how fast he is in the fight and then later he has to travel 10 000 miles and it takes him like 2-3 months. I am like WTF happened to his speed?
FilledWithHope the aurthor would have spent lots of time making the novel and for you to disrespect them is not very nice...you should respect that they have given you something to read instead of picking out little things that doesn't really matter think of how the aurthor would feel when they read what you say! And you could of hurt a lot of people feeling by saying "why are Chinese authors so bad at spelling" that is not nice...in actual fact Chinese people are very kind and are good with maths...they take their time to create novels for people and for you to disrespect them...you should apologise and respect people more!!!

This one is the one nearly every cultivation novels makes. Basically, every single cultivation method with a distance in a "blink of an eye" or "half of a breath" is flawed. What is also funny is when the MC and Arrogant Young Master#1 both have those special arts. Sometimes, both used their arts to their "full potential" but in the end, they managed to stay inside a small square of 50 meters length. Like seriously, what is read is like, roaming thousands of miles, jumping hundreds of meters in the sky, but in reality, they are barely moving at all. Specifically in "Tournament Arc", where the author specifically says that the dueling court is small because of everyone watching the battle.
At the same time, it is not necessarily an error in maths in that case. More like, to make the fight more interesting, close whatever adjective you can think of that will make it better. Instead of staying realist, they chose to break a little the reality to offer a better experience to the reader. When it is the stats and money and time of traveling of the MC, I think that's because they failed at remembering the exact number. But for the rest, it can be considered as making the novel more interesting.
It's like "increasing my power one fold", I never really understood what it meant. Sometimes, the MC can slaughter in one move the previously invincible enemy, sometimes he just barely beat it.
Law of narrative causality applies. Basically anytime anything happens it's done either to highlight the drama of the moment or coolness of the protagonist.
Spacekitty26 Fuck off, I don't care about how they feel. Grow up and realize nobody gives a fuck about anyone in life unless they stand to benefit from them.
FilledWithHope Well that was a mature and measured response. Trying for the black powder fan approach or just being edgy to look cool?
Authors put a lot of work into those stories and at the end of the day they make mistakes, but if you're still reading despitd said mistakes then they're not storybreakers.
Besides, some of it just reads as being exaggerated to give it a greater impact, like someone telling a fish story.
chibizion Even if it doesn't make me quit reading, so what? When you take a test do you aim for a 60% (barely passing) or do you aim for a hundred?
so what is a good alternative to web novel for these style of stories that give more to the authors and a fair value to the company.
FilledWithHope You aim to do the best you can and try to learn from your mistakes. Authors of all types try to do the same. Doesn't prevent the mistakes from happening. Especially in webnovels which tend to lack an editor on ths original work.
My mother and father went to the grocery store 15 miles from our house. Our family is really poor and thus we can't really afford to buy or use a car.
The average human can walk about 3 miles an hour... Yet my parent's haven't been home for 17 years. Why is that? They left my little sister and I for this long, and they're still not home. Why?
Li Yufei looked at the MATH on the whiteboard with a frown on his face. The author needs to get good at faking math!
snowonereadslikeme Oh, they're clumped up under the term 'publishing houses'. Sometimes, when you roam the streets there are these really strange places filled with bound paper. I've heard this stuff's called 'books', but I could be wrong.
I'd say authors tend to forget shit more than them being bad at math, also there's translation mistakes frequently which doesn't help on our end.
snowonereadslikeme Amazon.
FilledWithHope this is a public chat and I dont think people would appreciate your attitude towards other people, I understand maybe reading a novel with mistakes is irritating however some stuff ate not ment to be said on the other hand let's be real here if someone was to say something mean and aimed at you would you be angry? Would you be upset? Of course you would
