Question: Have you finished a WPC story?
Veronica8 Currently still writing it, If I didn't received an offer for a contract I might dropped it as I'm such a huge procrastinator. Since it's already a contracted, I wish to write it till the end.
It's funny how I lose the WPC(I don't remember the number but it has something to do with 'Leveling System') yet still got an offer for a contract a weeks later. I'm also writing another story right now when I was free from suffering the hell of brainstorming, still waiting if there's any WPC for it and I might give it a go.
I entered the challenges about super powers or something of the sort. I can't remember the number.
Currently, it is suspended but I do have a dozen drafts that have not been published and I don't think I ever will publish them. My problem is that I stack up on drafts and I don't update.
Right now, I'm focusing on one book to update while I write to of drafts for others.
My current one for WPC99 First Love is complete. It was only ever meant to be a short story, one-shot.
It wasn't something I wanted to write long term, so I had written it that way in mind. Also, it was really only a story I wrote for 'one' person, lol.
I started my story last New Year, participating at Writer's Evolution Contest (or smth like that). During this period of time I completed the first book and almost done with the sequel.
Total amount 400k words for now.
2M+ views.
Two times it was featured.
WN offered the contract twice but I plan to publish the book so I didn't sign it.
This is my first experience in writing.
Do we have to complete novel before final ranking of contest or it doesn't matter how much we write.
I had planned to submit mine to one of the prior Wpcs but for whatever reason the setting kept rejecting it, so I've just been plowing through it regardless, plenty of other ideas to stab an WPC with down the road.

It doesn't matter. Just have to have 5k words.

Still writing, didn't win, received an offer to sign weeks after, but kind of getting attached to this story. Not sure I'll sign it. I update it daily and I'm almost at 100k words. I plan to make a volume 2 of this story. So, perhaps all it takes is to have a good plot ( I believe I have one) and commitment.
kazesenken Yep completing the prompt as a novella is cool.
Darth_Xiane yeah, lots of WPC opportunities.
Thanks guys for the answers.
It's nice to see that books that didn't win were still checked by editors and some recognized for quality. That contracts can be offered to any of the entries. WPC stories became a labor of love for some.
Veronica8 I entered my current contracted novel for WPC at the last second without realizing that the rankings were determined by power stone votes. (r.i.p) Regardless, I'm somehow at 250k+ words, but I'm not close to finishing, so I don't know if this counts.
As for my other novel I entered, I got like 3rd place or something (can't remember correctly) but I dropped LMAO. Kept writing for one week, then decided I was done with life. Some things are just not meant to be finished. :pensive:
I think all of my stories were from WPCs XD
Only two of them are really active- the rest are in this sad abandoned warehouse though I may go back to them at some point. Especially when I have more world building research done.
I only won/placed on one of them and still taking it slowly.
My longest one didn't win a thing but I got contract offers on it. Made it on the trending original page for like a week. After I turned them all down I stopped hearing anything (maybe WN has me on an 'author not interested' list.)
I really do want to finish up my stories- all of them. I'm just really slow and I like having control over my stories- which I why I turned down the contract offers. I couldn't bear it if they became something out of my world/control even if I did make more money off it.
Never considered self publishing- maybe one day when they're further along. (I'm curious too so I enjoyed reading through the thread)

I've finished Blossoming Flowers just last week. It ended at 267 chapters :D
I was thinking of trying for a contract, but due to the virus, the Chinese New Year vacation and the new system it has taken more than a month now, and I still don't know if it will be contracted. If I can't get it contracted I will run it through my professional editor and self-publish it as I do with my other novels.
I like self-publishing, but I do not have the time to build a reader base in the contemporary romance field, hence I am more interested in trying for a contract with my romance novels and see how they do.
