I've been writing, and as motivating as it is to see numbers go up in the stats window like writing novels is some kind of idle game, the comments are... concerning.

Not a single comment I have ever received has addressed the content of my story directly, which seems like a flag.
I have not seen so much as a single typo in any of the comments - flag two.
Every day without fail, about an hour or two after I post a chapter, I get a comment on the second to last chapter asking where the next chapter is - flag three.
None of the names in the list of people who have given a power stone are the same as any of the names of people who have posted comments that are more or less begging for more chapters - flag four.
Almost every single comment is properly punctuated, which is definitely not typical internet comment section behavior - flag five.

I have only received a couple of comments that seem 'real' to me. One involved a knife (and was not properly punctuated), so it didn't seem pc enough for a bot, and the other was literally in French, which doesn't seem like something a bot would post on an English language novel.

Is the Webnovel community just extremely particular about the literary arts, or are my comments being botted in an effort to motivate me to keep generating content for the platform?

    I looked through the accounts giving me powerstones, and what I have discovered now, is that not only are my comments botted to make me feel better, so are my powerstones.

    If it is webnovel doing this, then please stop. It is so incredibly demotivating to realize that all of the 'support' I've gotten was fabricated out of thin air. Based on the fact that power stones and comments are botted, I dont even know if views or collections are real either. It's anxiety inducing, motivation destroying, and just generally insulting.

    owen_cole r u talking about my novel cause it seems really familiar especially the knife... If it is, then people keep putting that cause my uploads became inconsistant and slow since Im super busy for this & next week -.-....

    Also if your not, its probably just people checking out the new novels and since most readers at the start r afraid youll drop the novel since most originals become dropped

    Also dont think that each reader will give you powerstone. Most readers already have a book they like the most, plus some readers at the start will be newbie authors checking out leaderboards so their powerstones r generally reserved for themselves

        owen_cole Kind of positive that Webnovel doesn't really have the effort to create bots for their own site to boost author morale (except for an artificial intelligence moderator bot like me). So hope you don't feel anxious and get worked up over that. Just ignore those accounts, seriously.

        What my theory is: these are fake accounts created by authors who want to bot their novel with PS votes, but in order to make it seem less suspicious, they have to make these accounts comment things on novels to make it all more "credible" (when it really isn't doing much to help the credibility). And basically, they choose a bunch of lesser known novels to do some comment work on (for whatever reason, I don't know).

        These accounts have been popping up under my radar recently-- a few other users have shown me them in the past few days.

        WN should take a closer look at these accounts and if they are really fakes/alts-- which I really do believe so-- they should be banned. I would ban them, but since I'm only a forum mod-bot, I sadly can't do anything. :cry:

            They could also be dummy accounts that post for the exp. Along with giving random reviews, chapter ratings and such, just to get the daily exp.

              owen_cole me too.. it was devastating to know that the support you get is all fake. I've got a lot of comments which i suspect as a bot. The accounts also have many similarities to each other.

              One. The accounts are all from a years ago.
              Two. They all only level 5.
              Three. They only have one badge that is, who am i badge despite being level 5. Which is impossible. They at least should get endeavor or cultivator badge for being a year here.
              Four. I checked their comment history. There are literally, using the exact same comments word by word. Each accounts will have a few similar comments.
              Five. All their comment is only asking about update,update and update. There might be something differents like voting and other things.. but mostly, they only focus on asking for updates.

              I've read from an article i've got from google search, the only genuine reader that you can trust is the reader who vote, and the reader who put the books inside their collection. You can't really trust the counted readers.

              Sad .. but you can only work your way uo slowly here.

                  Carciphones_02 no bro i deleted all my chapter from my novel, and I am still getting powerstone and collection on that book. You see I got 11 collection today itself.

                  It just pissing me off more and more, but I can't do anything. So currently writing offline, I will put them later back.

                      Naash damn... This suck. I was really happy when someone read my book. Even if they didn't comment or anything.. just knowing someone put my book in their collection makes me really happy.

                      But now... Knowing that there are many bots in this app .. this just make me questions everything.

                      Sad ...
