Plague Doctor has horror themes, is unique in its setting and it seems like a ton of people like it with 139 ratings with an average of 4.9! Four-point-Nine! I really believe this novel deserves a second chance! I don't see why it doesn't deserve to be translated!

Plus transcendibg dawn and decils menu, i cant say i saw better novels in these couple of weeks, yet they keep promoting bad novels, even if there was somr sort of fan based choosing process i am sure plage doctor and devil menu should have won, yet for some reason not only are they not chosen they are removed, can someone explain to me whyyyyyy.

maybe they should hold a trial book revival contest and revive a few chosen books every half a year. choosing only 1-2 books from close to 8 books every week isnt very fair to the original authors as well

Even if Plague Doctor was of higher quality, money decides everything. Mainstream/fast-paced means more readers and so more money. At least at the beginning.
However, you just have to look at all these recently translated webnovels that have been bashed in the reviews after 100-150 chapters because of racism, repetitive content ect.. (and sometimes even dropped by the translators) to know that what determinines if a story will stay popular and bankable on the long run is not decided by his beginning.
A webnovel is only considered mainstream when the average reader on webnovels read mostly this type of story. To bring new/different readers on the app, you need different/non-mainstream webnovels.

Veronica8 Wouldn't they earn more money by branching out and translating novels that might make people want to buy coins to read ahead? If all you have is cultivation novels, you'll only have a certain group of people who will want to buy coins.

You are very right about this. It is very sad that the website is losing the whole idea behind reading, the adrenaline of wanting to find out more is compromised and even blatantly toyed with. While profits are important, this trial read system is capitalising on short term profits, losing sight of the long term potential returns.
Webnovel needs to build up a more sustantial content base, other than the short term money reaping cliches and stale stories. Perhaps, they can attract a stronger pool of loyal readers, and better authors by changing up the system and priorities.
TrueGodOfExp I agree. I honestly can't tell what catalog future they would gain in deciding novels to translate this way.
At the moment, it seems to make ends meet, reduce overheads and earn some short term profits.
What will happen if the catalog is too one-sided with an outdated reading trend? Can they sustain a continuous profit from a high percentage of books that may suffer readership drop?
I do hope there's some review period of this model where customer satisfaction is taken into consideration.
I agree that it's good to cater to the mainstream market. But they should also bring in options for the niche markets too 
Maybe they can reserve 1 slot every month to give those novels a second chance?
