SrtaA Well, it is famous hindi opera that I have been a fan of
"Kumkum- ek pyara sa bandhan"
Don't you guys check about books being copied before putting them on display? I
was shocked to read the story!
Copied books.

But well, I guess if the novel is not narrating step by step the soap opera you mentioned, it can hardly be considered plagiarism. Contemporary romantic novels have similar plotlines everywhere.
SrtaA are you from the webnovel staff? Where exactly do the readers file a grevience? I am mighty upset about this as a readerr!
I am a fan of a few works like etenal melody, young master's demian but now reading the brother in law book has gone on my nerves
hayatahmedallah I have no idea where someone can report a book for plagiarism.
But...
The only one who will get a book to be deleted from WN due to plagiarism is the actual owner of the work which is being plagiarized. So if you know who they are, let them know you think they are being plagiarized.
SrtaA it is a soap opera not a book and also i do not know them in person. But what shocks me is how does webnovel allow copying?
SrtaA the story line, plot and characters are similar so how is that not copying? Are you saying that unless a story matches word by word is only what is covered under copying?
hayatahmedallah they will only acknowledge it if the author of the original work fills a complaint against them. Like everyone else. The author must reunite proof his work is being plagiarised.
Thats so lame. Haha. So now anyone can compose copies and earn bucks out of it, only waiting for big companies to see it after 10-15 years? Is that what webnovel is doing?

hayatahmedallah well, it's alike just because the heroine marries the younger brother of a deceased husband? What are the other clearly copied elements? I wouldn't say as much because it was hard for me even go past the third chapter, to know (comparing with the summary of Kumkum- ek pyara sa bandhan in Wikipedia I didn't find alike). Absolutely not my cup of tea.
Did both works start alike? Is the family's dynamic identical? Is there some specific scene that is identical in both works? Those could help to identify plagiarism.
I'm not doubting what you say, first because you watched the show and read the book, and I didn't.
But it's not so easy to proof plagiarism, even in the court, and it's one of the reasons the author must file a complaint about it if they believe their copyrights are being infringed.
hayatahmedallah And hell yes, I'd be as mad as you if I found something like that.

hayatahmedallah ideas aren't copyright violation. And never will be.
Actually copying physical/readable text from another source to claim as your own is copyright violation.
What you're probably annoyed with is seeing clichés and tropes of a theme reused to the point of saturation. This is how Webnovel catalog works. Think of it like fast food for books.

hayatahmedallah Oh no no!!! i don't think it will be considered as copy of Kumkum. It's just cliche...like most romance novels here... has villain sister's or white lotus troop. I read few chapter of Young brother in law...it's a different packaging of concept. It was a good read. There are few dramas on similar idea but different story.
hayatahmedallah Hey! Are you an indian? If yes, then have you read " Prithvi" on Wattpad by VermillionBlue. And I'm not talking about any fanfiction of legendary Prithivraj Chauhan's love story it's a original novel by Ranjana.

Veronica8 Hey there, I read you write LGBTQ novel. Would you recommend me good novel on webnovel?
I think we should all be careful about accusations like this. You can't just say that she copied this and that without any proof. Plagiarism could ruin an authors career.
And to be honest, saying that she copied her novel is like saying that All CEO novels just copied from Trial Marriage or Full Marks Hidden Marriage because they have a CEO male lead.

Does it like adaption? does all exactly the same? for example Taiwan drama Fated to love you being adapted into manhua and with so many drama remake. That also copyright.

@hayatahmedallah I am a Webnovel staff and one of the editors who is looking after this book.
We were notified about this book a few weeks ago. We spoke to the author who told us her detailed plot outline, and the female editors determined that her plot outline is vastly different from the TV drama's plot outlines.
@TheBlips is right, accusations of plagiarism are very serious and it can end a writer's career. You should have some 100% undeniable proof that something is copied. You can email me at islindayang@yuewen.com if you are certain you have undeniable proof. Even then we are very sure this author has not plagiarised anything. The plot may have some similarities but if you're going to be pedantic about it, you can say 'Shark Tale' plagiarised 'Finding Nemo' because they both are about sea creatures. Similarities and plagiarism are two very different things.
