Social_Butterfly52 Is it me or it's the same with everyone here? When ever I think of new ideas I just starts assuming my book will be super popular with the readers with how unique it is but later it leaves me disappointed to see my book not getting any recognition and readers not engaging with my book or trying to interact with me.

It's that kind of experience with original concepts and innovative writing. It's a lot harder to convince readers to commit to originals at this place because readers here are light readers. They only have enough time to read what they already know. It's the reason that trope and clichรฉs work well here. The energy to invest in new originals is thin. And the search function is buggy and not in favor of new originals. It leaves a chunk of the catalog undiscovered.

So keep writing and finishing the story even knowing it might not be read. A writer is as good as their next story. You can get better over time if you keep writing and reading to learn more about writing.

Also renowned authors have faced similar situations and asked similar questions. Brandon Sanderson wrote 13 books without making a single sale on them. So this indicates they weren't being discovered and read. If he gave up back then, he wouldn't be the author he is today.

KristineElias hello, kristine. Thank you for appreciating underdog writers. Idk if I'm good enough too, but I would really love to hear honest thoughts about my work. I'm getting demotivated now, honestly. Feels like I lost my feeling of having fun when I write. So if you have time, I hope you can check out my work too. And thank you very much.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚Looking at you guys post, I just came to a sudden realisation that hardly anyone ever read my novel only happens each time I post. I honestly just realise that I was the one who started the novel and I enjoyed writing it cuz ever since I started writing my novel. Honest to God, I have not seen any novel worth reading to me.

I feel like my novel is another world where I can just escape reality.

The feeling of satisfaction you get after each complete chapters is what I long for!

I don't know about yall, but I just honestly realised I didn't care if anyone read it or not. you can confirm as it was only once I did the stuff called review swap and that was like a few minutes ago. It was also only once I promoted my novel.

I just love my novel a lot๐Ÿ˜Šโค. To the extent I didn't realise ii needed to be promoted ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Typhlix There is no need to. The author of the book Daughters of House Castellan, have been sent contract invitation twice, yet she did not sign it because she said she is writing for fun. unless a better offer goes by, I think. But, yeah, you don't have to be pressured by being a great writer if you are writing for yourself.

Veronica8 I get annoyed at how the original books don't get any recognition. Still, books that are repeated off the same concept are everywhere on Webnovel and get so much recognition. Since romance is so popular, I'm trying to make an original with Romance incorporated; so far, I only have four people who added it into their library...It isn't encouraging. I would love to have some responsive readers. I write for fun, but I'm here to improve too. I would love to maybe get some feedback from them instead of just sitting around trying my best to make a book without knowing if the readers like it or not. Maybe I have my expectations too high and shouldn't expect them to give feedback at all. Well, I just wanted to get that off my chest, and I totally agree with your opinion.

I have started writing not too long ago. The main reason why I started was just to have fun and relax. I've read a lot of stories here and on other platforms and I said why not?

As I went through the first few chapters I realized how much joy it brings me and how fulfilling it feels for me to actually create something that I call my own. I don't get many readers or many collections but I did get a contract for it. To be fair, I didn't know much about contracts and I was just relieved thinking that my book has been at least liked enough to get the contract. But then I read some things about contracts and realized it's not that big of a deal as I initially thought. But again, the recognition for me would be just a bonus since I am already having a lot of fun writing.

Honestly, I already planned most of the ideas that I want to incorporate into my book. However, I plan to write quite a lot, and so far, I have already changed quite a few of the initial ideas for the book. By the time I reach the actual milestones that I have set up for the book, lots of things might have changed already, from the plot to even the idea itself. And so, at this point, sometimes I even "forget" it's my work and I am just excited to see how it will continue, because until I have hit that publish button for a chapter, I might change it a hundred times. I know what the next chapter for my book will be about, but I am eager to see how that will be written.

Regarding having a few readers, well, I feel like usually the more diverse your book is, the higher the chances of someone finding something they don't like and dropping it are. It also means that they will surely find something they like, but it will balance the things they don't and in the end, they might not even put it in their library much less vote for it. But that's fine! After all, it all depends on what you are writing for. If you are writing for money and you try to have a very big audience, then yeah, it might be frustrating. But if you are writing just because you really enjoy it and do not care as much about having many readers, then even one regular reader is enough.

Just knowing that someone else really enjoys my ideas and writing is usually enough for me to continue writing.

I started writing about a year ago and really enjoyed doing it. Even with the lack of comments and reviews and such, it didn't really deter me in writing something that I wanted. So there's that aspect. Write because you want to, rather than seeking recognition.

It probably took a month or so before a couple of comments trickled in. And even now, a year later, there's really not much activity for a novel that has over 150 chapters. Those that commented or reviewed were welcome, and I used some of their input going forward. Otherwise, I'm just crafting a story that feels interesting to me.

I apparently have a decent number of collections even though it's not contracted (so low exposure), but they are all silent readers. It is what it is.

Even though my stories and grammar are not that good, I am still continuing to write my novels, short stories or super short stories for the reason that this site gave me a chance to continue my writing hobby and meeting people like me, who are writing because they have that kind of creation flow into their veins.

Septic_Red Yeah, pretty much. I think I do well. It only matters if you are really putting effort into the stories. So I feel yuh there.
