WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL And what about translating into other languages? Like for example in French? It's the 5th most spoken language in the world (knowing that the first two are English and Mandarin), it's a bit silly not to think about it.

For comparison, if you write an Original English novel on Webnovel, you get 50% revenue share.
If you choose to be a fan translator of a dropped project, you get 30% revenue share. Help the authors earn 30% share and help readers of dropped project.
p.s. how about making an announcement on here and make it sticky/pinned similar to this announcement
2020 Webnovel is hiring Content Editors for our Singapore office!

so that future/potential fan translator will know about it

the sticky/pinned thread would be something like this:
2020 Webnovel is recruiting Fan Translators for dropped projects - 30% Revenue Share
(the thread should mention that the authors will also get 30% revenue share so the fan translator is directly helping the original author)
30% to fan translator
30% to author
30% to webnovel as publisher/platform
10% for cost of wire transfer / administrative expense for overseeing these projects
Also mention that all these fan translations of dropped projects will have their GIFT FUNCTION turn on so that wealthy readers can donate as a thank-you for picking up these dropped projects.
I don't get why the gift function is not mandatory for all TRANSLATED novels. It is with Qidian. All VIP/premium novels are mandatory to have gift function. Qidian and Qidian authors have benefited from this gift function ever since Qidian made it 10+ years ago.

Reinesse To find out, you would have to do a market study, which to my knowledge qidian has never done.
And for the potential of the number of readers, it should be known that France is the first country in the world to have imported and made popular manga and lightnovel outside of Japan. This culture is very popular there, so as for the number of readers, it would increase very quickly.

Up!
any fan translator apply yet?
It might be more effective to toss a link to this forum thread over on NUF or reddit, but be prepared to be flamed to hell and back for supporting Webnovel in any way.

I was waiting for Webnovel to make an announcement and pinned/sticky the thread before I do that. Has been waiting for a long time now.
I made the thread on NUF a few minutes ago. We will see how it goes.

The problem is that the novel doesn't earn enough money so it doesn't pay enough to the parties involved. I think it would be better if they put these novel on ad based instead of a pay-wall and allowed gifts and donation to a patreon for both author and translator. the reason the novel failed in the first place was because of the pay-wall so only a number of people will read it because most people aren't willing to pay to read per chapter or they can add a one time purchase so ppl can buy the whole book.
If the novel is still updating maybe they can package 200-300ch as a one time purchase for a reasonable price instead of paying per chapter. since light novels sell per volume they should split them every 200-300 chapters and sell them like a regular book instead of per chapter which makes people upset at how much money they have to spend to read thousands of chapters.
I'm pretty sure ad revenue is a lot less than pay-by-chapter revenue.
The solution to dropped novels is to find "true fan" translators who do it for love and not money. The true fan translator translate mostly to support the author and the readers. The 30% revenue share is just an extra bonus.
true fan translators might be hard to find....
