  • Werewolf authors are repetitive

What else is there to write about? When it comes to animal instincts, there isn't a lot of exposition or variety. Dominate, eat, screw. That's about it.

Why not watch your pet cat or dog for a day, and come back and tell me what you notice. Oh... it's the same thing.

Basically, it's an appeal to a reader's "instincts" (their "fursona", in other words. I shudder at the mere mention of the word. ughhh). It doesn't take much to satiate a human's carnal desires, and unfortunately, there are some among this world's populace that satisfy them with anthropomorphic animals.

Kill me. Please.

Is this referring to the werewolf lover contest that's going on right now?

Seriously, that contest is stacked. It's targeted at a female audience, so it seems you're only allowed to write it a certain way - basically romance. So you can't write about a werewolf who's rising through ranks in his pack unless you include romance. I was hoping to do something like Christopher Golden's Prowlers, but when I saw the prompts and requirements, I was like, "Nah, screw it." If I try something more original, I'll get disqualified because I need to shoeshorn romance in it.

It says in the rules that it may not be romance but when creating the novel it forces you to have a romance tag, what a bummer

      ShoeInk Kill me. Please.

Certainly my friend, just sign here on this paper that says that I won't be held responsible.

      Yours truly,

SlaveOfTheLord Honestly, I might take you up on the offer.

Or maybe not. I might wind up in the same place as these furries when they kick the bucket. Don't want their fetid mop water all over me in the event that happens, so maybe I'll take a rain check.

          17 days later

I feel like there are good werewolf novels out there but the ones that I'm seeing make me cringe in my seat. What is up with the respective use of Orbs or peeper to describe eyes?

itssYannii His eyes were of a peeper getting caught in a bathroom on corporate time. Giant orbs of panic and fear in search of a shelter. But who would have known that WWs love to get caught in a bathroom stall on corporate time? He took control of his panicked orbs and with a domineering gaze looked deep into the orbs of his manager.
"How dare you try to scare me you puny manager when I'm on my bathroom break", said the WW
The manager never expecting such galls from a lowly worker lost the ability to speak and only could watch him with eyes like orbs of anger.

              "Werewolf authors are repetitive!"

Proceeds to plug Werewolf novel in the thread

Can't tell whether it's a big brain move or just tactless behavior. Either way, my hat's off to you.

                ShoeInk It's desperation.

Make a thread complaining about some cliche or archetype (cultiivation, harem, etc.) and you'll have at least a couple of people jumping in and begging people to read theirs. "Don't worry, mine is different!"

Most of the times, they are not different. All the times, they are just bad. The really good authors aren't desperate enough to resort to shamelessly advertising their stories everywhere because they naturally draw views and readers without having to do such nonsense. They let their writing speak for themselves. And they know how to be patient.

Lucky_Summoner I wanna add the infinite times of rejection. Like. Girl gets rejected. Girl gets depressed over a guy she met once and thinks it's love. Girl gets second mate who turns out to be the werewolf king or something. King takes her away by force and does possessive bs. Girl is wet by his 'care' but pretends to be strong and opinionated which disappears the moment her mate appears. They fall in love and some villain appears. Fight happens. Villain dies. Everyone lives happily ever after in their toxic af relationship.

Damn I just wrote an entire novel 😂😂😂
