looool gonna see how many people they will lose
PancakesWitch except from the authors who wont get half the popularity they used to. With 60% of the readers gone theres gonna be 60% less power stones etc being put into the novels. Welp when all the good novels get burried cause they have no popularity maybe the complaints of the authors will get WN to change.
I'm still going to use the site to find novels I enjoy but when i do, THIRD PARTY HERE I COME!
There are still Fast Passes but only if you use the App. In fact there are up to 5 FPs a day. Claim, Vote, Vote, and then for some of the novels you can watch adds to open two more chapters.
TianLei I don't have the app installed as I only read on web. Isn't it simply forcing people to download the app by reducing the functions of the web.
Sigh I have been a bit annoyed ever since the SS change to fast passes (I have used webnovel for about 6 years now), but there were a few books that I still found it worth using this site for. At this point though, it is not worth even them anymore.
PS I hate their app, I tried it and I am not going back.
I don't know why they just don't go for a subscription base model where authors get paid by views. They could add tiers, one that grants access to basic chapters and a more expensive tier that includes premium chapters, then for authors they could add the function to gift money directly to the author with webnovel not taking a cut from the gifted money.
Half the reason people don't engage monetarily with Webnovel is because of how insanely overpriced it is, like no offense to the authors but most of these novels are not worth even a fraction of what you'll end up paying for the entire thing. If it was more reasonable more people would engage and then you'd have the benefit of a larger paying audience. As it is currently, most of Webnovels income relies on cash cows, when they could be making more from average viewers.
ReverendDream24 a subscription base model where authors get paid by views.
Views are inflated by bots, also easy to abuse. I think a subscription model would be better, but definitely not based on views. Based on something else, but I'm not sure.
Also, I think completed books should just be unlocked at a discount rather than having to unlock a chapter one at a time. I think someone mentioned there was already a model like that, but I can't find any info on it.
Tomoyuki
But why should they discount completed books? They make more money doing the opposite.
Their target was always more money, even when lowering it in a short term will bring drastically more benefits long term.
Goodbye, Webnovel. I'm not recommending your site to anyone anymore.
i agree
,
I like to read free partly, so I know if it's good or not. Forcing us to use mobile phone.. whats the point, I like to read from computer.
ReverendDream24 Just add that WN's chapter charging system causes authors to indefinitely lengthen their popular works which makes them lose any hint of quality.
Bleed_the_gods I mean from a customer point of view. Was trying to help consumers save money and benefit more. A business is nothing without its customers.
I vastly prefer fast passes being on the website instead of the app, my vision is slowly getting worse and using the app on my phone is brutal.
For the time being I have been able to use the app on an android emulator (bluestacks) to get fast passes there. It is less convenient than just being able to do everything in the browser but it is an option for anyone who wants to stay on the site and stick with their computer. You can get the fast passes on the mobile app and then use them in the browser.
Tomoyuki
Exactly! In a long term scenario, that would make them benefit more. However, webnovel doesn't know about long term benefits. It only cares for the present. As for customers? Qidian.
That said, it is an excellent idea. It is just that webnovel is never going to use it.
