Just let him post on patreon. It is just side income coming from few people that willing to spend money to quicken the translate. Qidian will benefit from it because a lot of quick translate chapters due to this. Moreover only those who pledge to him will have access to it. It is a win2 situation for all.

You guy already upgraded it to premium and will force a lot of other people to spend stupid stone for the chapter.

There goes a good quality translator. Didnt have some of the mistakes many other novels here did. It was good quality stuff.

LtBeefy Now be ready to dread the new translator since he won't know the terms of the old one and it will turn into a jumbled mess. I also don't expect him to be quality. That is ofc if a new translator can even be found...

Most reader don't even understand the reason patreon is better than SS for the readers. They only see "15 chapters in advance for 50$".

In reality those preview chapters were just a bonus. The real benefit was the CROWDfounding to get the release rate faster for everyone. Regular supporter, one-time supporter and leecher. 1$ Of 1000 people can get 4-5 chapter more per week than the regular release. Well... except the old translator of Swallowed Star, he didn't really up the chapters after some point. His last goal was at 1k, even though he was at 2.6k+. (beginning of the month. At the end of the month over 4k - but they didnt pay up.)

QI would earn about 200$ per chapter, if only 1000 people read them. And no matter how many people buy the chapters, it won't increase the release rate.

Readers overall would have paid more money after 5 chapters, than if 1k get donated by patreon. Obviously QI wouldn't get as much money (or any at all? idk) from Patreon supporters... On the other side translators get waaaaaaay less from Spirit Stones.

Basically everyone losses out, except QI. Readers lose out. Translators loses out.

Karyehs Translators actually get nothing from ss right now as far as i know. Just telling it so you know. When translators will start getting a piece of the pie out of ss income is anybody's guess...

This is from my POV, but the way I understood it Leo was fulfilling his patreons' pledges, but that just so happened to coincide with when SwSt went premium, so QI, I assume, had a claim on those chapters.

Also the SS plan is terrible for consumers it comes to about 20 cents per chapter, roughly 10SS, so as soon as all of mine are spent I'll be rarely frequenting this site until they change their premium plan.

        edit afterthought:
That may not seem like much but it'll add up hella fast over time.

whoknowswhate well, have to say their spirit stones are cheaper. Patreon was 5$ per advance chapter. Spirit stones it would only be about 10-18 for a chapter so much less.

Karyehs Qi lost out as well. If this is how they blackmail and force out good translators, they won't get a dime from me. Keep your Swallowed Star, your greed gets no loyalty from me. Only contempt.

LtBeefy well, have to say their spirit stones are cheaper. Patreon was 5$ per advance chapter. Spirit stones it would only be about 10-18 for a chapter so much less.

            Lol, that's a foolish comparison.

            A. SS is the cost of one chapter. $5 Advanced chapter was always ahead of the latest chapter by one. In essence, it was getting at least 40-60 chapters a month for $5.

To read 50 chapters of premium it will run you at least $9.95, assuming an average cost of 12 SS/Ch(600SS in total).

            B. Advanced chapters were always optional and never affected the release rate of 14/ch per week or so. With premium, releases are curtailed to 7 free ch/wk (at least until royalty contracts come out and the free chapters are ended.)

            C. Not only that, once you quit paying for premium you have to wait at least 7 weeks to catch up to your paid point. (Once again, that's only true until the royalty contracts come out for translators and the free weekly chapters are cut-off).

LtBeefy Why do people keep forgetting patreon was crowd fund-raising .
For even the smallest pledge, it counts to a number of pledges that increases the actual release per week.
And in patreon they gave chapters ahead and the free chapters available to everyone did not decrease as it has in Premium.

Lomacris only increases release rate for tler that chose 2 increase release rate. Not all tler did that.

LtBeefy Even if some translators did that. In patreon you were paying for chapters ahead of the release rate, and every time they released a chapter for everyone they released one for patreon if you had the pledge for those chapters.
In premium you are getting 7 chapters a week and started paying for chapters that you once had free, no advance chapters there.
They could have done it better to prevent such a backlash but even if they did there would be backlash eventually because the system is flawed. You are paying for chapters you once had free but have you noticed the quality of those same chapters has diminished? The translators no longer receive the money that they used to, and don't upload quality chapters.

I love how everyones so scared of qidian coming after them when there are dozens of chinese sites illegally hosting the original chinese works of these translations freely without worry, I think its time people learn from them.
