Well, to be fair, Chinese hate their own country just as much as they hate Japan. Just think about it, if you add up all the annoying anti jap propaganda and general racism in most modern world chinese webnovels, it won’t even add up to a tiny fraction of the plot where the mc has to deal with corrupt CHINESE officials, rapist CHINESE young masters and countless CHINESE gangs that keep CHINESE police on a short leash. The more I read this chinese webnovels, the more I get the feeling that china is not a nice place be in, your life there isn’t worth more then the cloths you wear or so this novels seem to portray

    That's another rabbit hole. It's easy to realize how much racism Indians and Bengalis hold once you go about your everyday life with open eyes. Fairness cream ads, and how they try to relate success with lighter skin tones, how people treat others based on their 'fairness', the 'white item girls' in pretty much all the movies, are pretty evident.

    I have a cousin who earned a BSc degree, was young and beautiful and yet her parents had to search the heavens and hell to find someone willing to marry the girl with darker skin tone. She eventually married a guy from her workplace and left home. I've seen her crying in secret and I know why. That's like an everyday life here in BD. The racism isn't often intrinsic, rather very blatant. It's like we hate own own natural color and drawn to the 'Aryan' race. It's not biological, being drawn to the paleness of color. It's society shaping our perception of beauty.

        JunkieOverThe_Moon the reason the novels were written in Chinese is because it's for their eyes only to begin with. Tencent just want to make money out of everything. I won't be surprised if they start selling bottled air.

        No I'm not CN, it's just common sense to portray your own nation as superior. It's nothing new. I'd rather read an honest portrayal of characters than read shit that is baby proofed for these special snowflakes.

            UnhingedTaboo do you really think an author would create new names and new weapons? You also can't invent a new color and race out of thin air. Besides those are extra terrestial species, you're only making a mountain out of a mole hill. You're obsess on seeing racism coz' that's what you wanna see.

                Sythcake corruption is real in all Nations. However, Chinese will always choose to side their own despite if it's a heinous criminal or a saint. I kinda salute them with this kind of trait, others will sell out their countrymen just to look cool.

                    Soyboy if you ain't white, you ain't right. Amirite? This perception of beauty is dominant to Asian countries, even if the face seems bland, as long as the skin color is on the fairer side it will be perceived as beautiful. But this only proves the shallowness of a man, it doesn't really fall to the topic of racism. Lel.

                        Soyboy Yeah..... I agree that Indians have their racist as well, but you will only find those in the illiterate people living in rural area and towards the people from Nigeria.
                        The biggest problem here is the caste system not racism, but the media and entertainment agencies don't support it, nor will you find a writer who do the same. If anyone supports these kind of thinking and holds a position of power or is famous in someway, the media will tear it apart.

                        bachingchung I thought it was true only in India...... well that show the media has changed us, though my preference has now become dark skin for the last few years, but watching some ads in my earlier days, I did feel the fairer people were more beautiful(Then I see some unhygenic ones....)

China, Japan, Korea etc. The main reason is, it's usually perceived as a symbol of wealth, coz' you don't do hard labor. I don't discriminate though, the aforementioned countries' women usually have petite bodies and plump assets so I don't really mind. Japanese Ganguro girls' well toned skin is really hot. insert ahegao face

                                        I'd disagree somewhat. It's not directed at just some 'Africans', nor is it limited to illiterate people living in rural areas. It is really prevalent among even the university students that never confronted the things they'd been taught by the family and the society over decades. And it's not hard to test. Just keep the idea in your mind next time you go about your life, you'll find out. It's not always the biggest and most overt things that hurt us. And because people don't think it that big of a problem makes the problem this problematic. You can never confront a problem if people don't see it as a problem.

                                            Soyboy Then as I said, if it's subtle... then OK..... even I may have show racism even without knowing it, as the definition of racism of people is different for different people.

                                            Just a shot story though......... my paternal uncle(Chacha) was slapped by a Rajput(of a certain village) for just following the orders and showing impartiality toward him... do you know what happened??

                                                Honestly, I don't really care about it that much unless it gets totally out of hand. Pretty much any Hollywood movie is filled with western propaganda and American elitism. It's not like they're doing it to stroke their own dicks, it's just that it's what resonates the most with their target audience. It's the same with webnovels, just a different country and culture.

                                                Nationalism and racism is a big turn off for me when in comes to novels, especially when it is a massive amount that will drag the novel and change the character. Just little bits is fine but when shit hits the fan, it's discriminating and purely disgusting. Legit, if you've read Shura's wrath over 400 chapters, you will understand what I mean.

                                                Nationalism and racism is just wish fulfillment for these authors, it's absolutely horrendous.

                                                So if you wanna read good novels, get rid of Shura's wrath from your list cause that novel will piss you off.
