  • Yea, the new ranking list is very confusing. I do like how they show some of the novels tags, and how you can sort between current on running novels and new ones even tho that is very badly done(it doesn't actually tell you what or how those filters work)

But one of the biggest issues I have, is the fact I can't see both female lead and male lead novels in the same ranking. You have to switch between the too with them in their own segregated ranking list. Which is extremely annoying for readers like me who enjoy novels regardless of the MC being female or male. I know there is a All option for content types and contracted novels. Why isn't there one for the forced gender segregation? Or am I just missing that filter option?

    • Yup you no longer get coins for reading time. Instead you get these stupid points that you can use to buy vouchers in the app store. Sadly the points are drastically under valued. You need 500 points to get 1 fast pass. Then 2000 for a second pass, 5000 for a third. So your going to have to read allot more then ever before because you only get 10 points per milestone now, for a max of 60 points a week. It's very clear Webnovel doesn't want us to read as many chapters for free anymore. This new system is actively working against free readers in every way.

    • aquaflamber It doesn't help that who ever wrote that has horrible grammar as well. They really need to have someone more experienced in English, to write those announcements. So that hopefully they would be more clear with them.

    • veinglory But then you got to remember, those books normally at that price are professionally done. Have gone through extensive professional editing as well.

I don't think any of us can sit here and say the majority of stories on this site are getting professional editing done to them. Also in many cases we can't even say the same for the translations. If any we might be able to say 1% of them are close to professionally done.

So from the stand point of those 2 things, its still not fair to be charging that much for them. When the work being done isn't even professional. Because as stated before in this thread. Webnovel doesn't care about quality, they want quantity.

I will also strongely recommend Worm, its one of the better Web Novels I have ever read. The only thing you might not like is, at times it can be fairly dark and gruesome at times. Most of the time its because of some of the Villains doing villainy things.

You can read it here. https://parahumans.wordpress.com/

The author put in some seriously hard work when it comes to character development, not just for the main character, who by the end of the story is almost completely unrecognizable to her past self at the start. But even the side characters who are around her, and against her. They are all thought out. They all have their own thoughts, goals and back stories, and don't follow the MC around blindly like card board cut outs. This results in a very well thought out world setting.

It also goes into some of the mental problems and aspect of what a real Super Hero might go through. Depression, madness and the over all pressure of being a public super hero. Whose actions are watched closely.

If you enjoy seeing a main character progress on their own two legs not relying on others constantly. Who honestly will struggle and lose at times but comes out stronger because of it. Then you might enjoy this one, also some of the super powers are interesting and thought out. The MC's power for one is one you don't really see often in super hero stories.

      • They have been locking free/unlocked chapters for a long time now. It started about 2-3 months after they introduced premium.

To make it even worse, we now are no longer guaranteed to get SS with are daily check ins. You now have a chance to get Power Stones and Energy stones.. But you only get SS for using both those stones once... So the extra you get from daily check in is completely useless to you as a reader.

We have given QI a free pass to many times now, and they are just getting bolder and bolder in their money grabbing pay wall ways... Soon we may not even get SS at all from Daily Checkin's.

        • The new change to giving SS or Exp, even Power Stones, is down right horrible. I'm already struggling to get enough SS to read more then 1 premium novel as is. I don't want 2 extra Power Stones that give me the reader, the consumer of this site. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! This is not fair to us at all. We only get SS for 1 power stone use, not all 5 that i now have for no reason.

If they keep this change I guess well just find these novels else where, and yes they are elsewhere the internet is a big place. Just have to know where to look.

        • It's near instant. You get the SS right after that person opens the link, and makes an account on the site. The SS will then appear in your inbox's notifications section.

          • WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL This is the single best thing you have done yet for this site. Wish you had done it way sooner. People review bombing female stories, or just posting spoilers and a bunch of nonsense, was making your reviews feature one of the worst in the industry. Glad to see your looking into improving that.

          • Misguided_Rooster This forum was designed for one to put their voice out there. Whether its about a novel's story, or a feature on this site. If QI didn't want people talking about their opinions on the premium system then they could easily get rid of these types of forum posts. or the repeated posts. They don't, so you shouldn't be complaining either.

You wen't from complaining about premium to complaining about people complaining about premium. In the end your still complaining so don't sit there and try to act like your on a high horse morally. Because if anything your worse then they are. Your complaining about someone voicing their opinions. Which is far worse.

If you wan't people to stop posting tons of threads about premium, make a mega thread about it, keep it active by bumping it up every day. Actively encourage discussion in it. Don't just flat out try to say people should stop posting about it on their own. It makes you look worse.

            • I have dropped around 10 maybe more. Several were fairly interesting but their SS costs were too much compared to the amount of enjoyment I got out of them. So i was left with no choice but to drop them.

Luckily I have 2 premium novels I am reading with short chapters so it keeps their SS cost per chapter really low. So i get to read 3-4+ premium chapters a day from those two. While making a surplus of SS. Instead of 2 or so a day from the more popular expensive ones.

              • By the end of the month this is totally just going to turn into an anime waifu picture album, and we will all forget about the original SS stat idea. That is, if we haven't already.....

              • checkm8 The reason I think this was a spur of the moment thing was because if it wasn't and they actually thought this through and read Amazons terms/guidlines. It means they knew it was a violation and still went with it anyway. Which makes this whole thing even worse. I know Water Army attacks online are a very common thing in Chinese Internet. But over in the west we at least try to hold are companies to higher standards, for appearance sake at least.

It's not surprising it is not doing well in Amazon. Not only is the novel broken up into tiny parts to increase sales profit. It is also a genre that frankly does not sell well very often for published Web Novels. Now if it was a LitRPG it probably would have 100+ reviews by now. That and my opinion of the story after giving it a try on here is just meh, average at best and the male lead is down right horrible.

So basically i agree with you on all accounts.

                • checkm8 Technically anyone can write a review yes. But that account has to have purchased a cretin amount on that main amazon site they linked. Not their local regional one. Amazon has multiple sites for multiple regions. QI is using the main site for the U.S.

So not only does amazon prevent fake accounts with no purchase history from reviewing. Which is stopping this TGIF in its tracks hard. Because people have to go create accounts on the main site and buy something from it.

So clearly QI also didn't even plan this out very well, not mentioning regional amazon sites, but only the main U.S one. I feel like this was just a spur of the moment thought of theirs and just wen't with it without thinking at all.

                  • I normally love TGIF, but actively encouraging an entire user base to spam fake reviews on ANOTHER legit website that sells products. Is not only morally long, it also can be considered a break in Amazons terms of service. Amazon is already suing companies for doing this on their site. This is just not ok on any level.

Thankfully Amazon requires accounts to have bought a certain amount of things on their website before allowing them to write reviews. Which explains why there are only 19 so far. Most of the kids on this site probably don't even own a valid credit/debit card to buy things there.

                    • Nope it has completely to do with the culture of this site. As in the vast majority of the type of people that flood this site and leave reviews. You can go look at 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% of the reviews for the majority of novels and see most are 5 star reviews, that are in no way shape or form an actual review. People just leave 5 stars and treat the review section as if it was a youtube crap post comment section, where they leave what they think is funny one liners. or just say its amazzzinng!!!! with out reading it, or saying why.

QI doesn't adjust, them as far as i can see. But it certainly is not going out of its way to fix the cancer that is its review section. Or encourage people to leave real reviews.

                    • Its a pretty common thing hosting sites like these all over the web slide into terms of service agreements... It also applies to anything you post in these forums as well.

It's just a matter of whether or not they plan to enforce it.

                      • I have to agree that they need to find something to replace the exp for commenting. You can look at any major novels comment section and at least 60% of it is spam posts for exp. It ruins the whole point of a comment section for a chapter. It should be comments about the chapter, or the translation.
It is now even worse some people are now spamming 5 star reviews or 3 and half star reviews trying to get exp. Reviews were already being spammed with pointless bots/fanboys already with no one actually doing reviews. It is only getting worse now.

Yes there will always be spam to be the "1st" comment. Like at WW with the F5 sect. But it is nowhere near as bad as the spam currently on this site because of the exp system. It is not even remotely close.

Besides the gain you get from leveling up is so small what is the point of getting a 3rd energy stone? You only get SS for the first one. 12% is the highest you can get for friend invite spam to fake emails. So there is no point going beyond level 4 or 3 currently.

The gain from leveling is so small, one could almost say it's a scam to artificially increase website traffic. That is what I think of it anyway.

                        • While I have never had the site use up that much of my processor.

The main problem most likely is one of three things, what ever they use to track where you go on the site, what novels you are reading where you read to and so on. Which we know they do.

Or the ads, Banner ads are notorious for destroying website performance. Considering one is at the bottom of every single chapter. If you load more then one chapter by scrolling on further down, you will quickly ramp up the amount of banner ads that are loading and running. I personally have seen the site uses less of my CPU when running some type of ad blocker(relax admins I turn it off for legit sites like yours). Even tho that should use up almost more because its another process running in the background.

Or you simply need to run some anti malware/spyware. Most the time it is this tho, make sure your protection is up to date and scan often. Also try clearing your cache. Because it could be all the cookies you get from ads.
