Well im one of the struggling authors in webnovel and a particular reader gave me bad review saying my cover is a clickbait just because I have one female mc. That was really a schock because I never once thought it would turn out to be a clickbait for someone. I mean my novel cover was based on the title, the genuis first love, the cover was the main lead character as i supposed -as it is the story of his first love. I mean im not feeling totally wreck because its just only a one review but i kinda thought it was really unfair for readers to rate a novel review based from the cover since the novel review is about the writing quality of the it. It felt bad but i guess that's one of the things we had to go through here, just sharing my thoughts. If you guys happen to pass by here, would u please leave me some advice whether to change my cover or not...i mean maybe it really does look a clickbait. Thanks!

I wouldn't say it's necessarily clickbait, but I guess that reviewer just wanted to read a story with male MC, so he might have been a little biased and frustrated when having his wishes not fulfilled.
So, if you are satisfied with that cover, I wouldn't tell you to change it just because of that one persona opinion. :)
Eh. He's also an author. So he's probably just trying to talk shit about the competition. Afterall, your book isn't the only one he made a mindless complaint about. Either that or he was hoping for some Yaoi and was disappointed. You should find a link for a good "male lead" yaoi/smut story and send it as a reply to him.
As a side note, it would have been helpful to actually put a link to your story.

No, my stalking research says he isn't active as an author anymore with that particular acc at least. And his comment history also doesn't make him out to be a bad guy. Just a normal dude, who is a bit too honest with his opinion :)

FleetingClouds probably he is. I tried to argue with him but I guess its just a waste. Anyway thanks for the compliment about my novel. I suspended this novel twice due to bereavement and due to a strong typhoon that hit my area and I was just back in releasing chapters, and viola! this review was just so out of nowhere.
FleetingClouds Put a little more effort into your stalking research then. His novel says "coming soon" and has no chapters. But that doesn't mean he isn't an author. He should be someone who is just starting, not someone who has finished, as you want me to believe. Though anything is possible.
And his comments don't make him a bad guy, but they do make him a borderline retard. Calling something clickbait because you thought the picture was a man, complaining because things are too slow, saying a story is bad because it's not a harem, and saying it's good because it is a harem. I guess you could call that being honest with his opinion, but I view that as not even having a valid opinion. If your method of judging a good novel is that it must be a male lead with a harem to be good... I don't even know what to say about that.
Zijay no need to change anything your cover is nice. It's not clickbait there's just some people who just do things like that. Keep up the good work. :) Gonna read your work later. :)

Sigh... I can't stand reading something with first person. It felt strange. I have tried to write with first person. This kind of style is dangerous. If I can't enter the character, it felt 'scary'.
Is the MC is male of female? I have to admit felt a bit uncomfortable to reading that far. The synopsis is great.

I think authors should be able to add tags to their own stories. Obviously readers don't bother to add any. If there were tags, this silly thing wouldn't have happened.

the reviews are several months old, and all chapters were deleted - typical case of a dropped novel, no other projects going on. And regarding his comments, I guess we have different attitudes but I didn't see them that negative, or "retarded", just the usual dude on the internet who talks weird stuff, business as usual here

Zijay so what if your cover is click bait! They all are if it had no cover would anyone give it a second glan e it would blend in with everything else. Unfortunately all covers are made to appeal to the eye, so to get offended is a little sad. There will be many people who will criticize about anything because it's easier to b*tch to vent out their frustrations. Flip him off and go on with your day.
