Obv, first just give some vague phrases along the lines of “It is a valley of death, no living thing dares to trespass.. etc.” and only give a detailed description when the mc actually reaches there to let readers immerse in what the protagonist is experiencing.. Basically only go into detail about things that are relevant to what is happening in the story atm, otherwise it will just turn into an info dump
Jmar225 How I would explain the way they were told how that place looks, feels, and things you can do there. Then when the character gets there express what they are feeling at that moment finally seeing it themselves and how the place looks through their eyes.
I did a similar thing in my "Feisty Dessert" story. My main character comes in contact with a lot of unfamiliar creatures and food.
@Sythcake @JuneChristina Yea that makes sense...when i first wrote it out it became a info dump like you said which made me reconsider how to present it.
the actual destination is a global festival on island that the MC has never been too eventhough they live on said island. The purpose of describing and going to the festival is to do some light world building while simultaneously luring the reader into false sense of security of whats to come.

I always thought that stinky burps would be a badass power. Like the guy is addicted to garlic so he can't stop eating garlic like ever. That would make him super smelly and immune to undead infections. On the downside he has to live as a hermit because of the stench and He will die a virgin unless he wants to get snu snu from a swamp troll.

Jmar225 Well long story shirt the towns people was isolated inside a bubble. No one was allowed to leave town but that didn't better because they was all perfectly happy. When a girl told her dream about wanting to see a real tree the little boy who liked her mad it his mission to find one. When the only one in existence had to be planted or else trees were lost forever. The "villain" character made all the towns folks believe that it was unnecessary and can cause illness. He did all that just to coming fooling the people into buying his products and making him rich.
This explanation of the movie is the point I was trying to make. The richest made manipulated what the people, need, want and saw but in reality they didn't need any of it.

Jmar225 I would have a scene where someone is explaining to them what's it like. So that when they see it they can compare base on their own opinion of it. Like if they are happy they would agree to it and explain what they see. If they disappointed than explain the grief and disappointment they're feeling in what they see. P.s. This is JuneChristina.

I might be writing a love story at this point im not sure if I have a clue what it is anymore. It started as an atypical cultivation story a spoof. Then who the MC is became ambiguous. Jmar225 Good. School can eat away all your time. When I was in college I couldn't manage to draw anything persona...... everything was drawn for a grade. I even cut back on writing those five years.
