Dragon_Sorceress I calculated my total expense if I buy coins in order to finish the Library of heaven's path (I just started reading this last month) considering the 1k plus unlock chapter that I have to open, the total coins I have to purchase is enough to buy a book set of Mitch Albom's or Harry Potter ( or it might be enough to buy both ) Now do I still need to consider buying coins???

Gelli_love Mine was 700 plus ss but the 500 ss expired, unknowingly. I only went on a holiday for 5 days without internet but when I open the app after, I almost threw my phone out of frustration, I lost 500 ss that I patiently earned. I use the remaining ss to buy a privilege for 10 advance chapters (I was afraid that it will also expire, might as well just use it right?) but I feel being robbed when I still need to buy that 10 chapter using coins (fast pass is banned for the privilege) I felt buying the privilege was useless, I no longer have coins to open the remaining chapter!!!

And oh, btw, i just found a nice ebook platform where i can read much better books, and also i just find in their collection one or more novel where its say 'Privilege Chapters' in yours but its free from them, totally, no coins, no etc and the chapters are more advance than the set PC in your platform.

Oh my God! Why you guys are doing that. It was a good app. Why are you trying to ruin it. If a particular chapter gets unlocked with either pass or ss then why the hell we are not getting enough pass or ss daily? I'm not able to understand your marketing strategy at all. You need to hire a new marketing/sales team now because if they telling you that the benefits will take time to come then I'm telling you, in future, most of the readers will uninstall this app....for sure. Really disappointed in you.

svats The only ones who will really uninstall this are the free readers. From webnovels point of view, they need to pay their translators, authors and editors somehow. All those new changes in the last update gave people so many free SS, that it was starting to hurt authors income. From the start privilege was supposed to be for paid readers. But somehow free readers managed to save up so much SS. Webnovel just returned it to how it was meant to be.

Though this new update doesn't support free readers very well. It's still possible to read for free they haven't gotten rid of free reading completely. There are many free books on this site too.

Yoshinocchii But tbh, that free pass thing you just created is just a ripoff, a reading pass for just one chapter and we don't even get to read it again after a day or two without using another pass to unlock it?

Just want to clarify, this is incorrect. Chapters that are unlocked with fast passes will be unlocked permanently. But fast passes expire after 7 days, so make sure to use them before they expire.

This reminds me of Dramafever; great app/site in the beginning years, then it gets taken over by another company/new leadership, and it falls so low its existence is erased. Whoever is doing the planning and decisions in the last year of QI Webnovel are going down that same path in an even quicker rate. And not even listening to the majority of displeasure. Bad business. I don't understand what was wrong with the system a couple or so years ago. Ads make a lot of money, too. If they increased the ads, some people might still complain, but it'd be free while making a lot of revenue for the company (and people can still spend money on SS or to get rid of ads for a month). And SS as the system was the whole allure of Webnovel in the first place, with the Daoist and cultivation theme drawing in people. Back when most the novels were xianxia, wuxia, and xuanhuan (most male-oriented). I guess WuxiaWorld still exists for that. I was looking forward to the 100th TGIF and what would be done for the New Year, but it was just a big load of disappointment. I wonder if the original Chinese version of Qidian is as bad now as this? I'm still hoping with enough complaints or possibly boycotting, that'd they'd reverse the update... but it doesn't seem likely

XOMatsumaeohana From my experience with the Fast Pass, you can't stack it beyond the 7 days which is 3 x 7 = 21 Fast Passes. I've had times when I have 19 Fast Passes with hours to spare before the oldest Fast Pass expires, but when I do my check-in (earns 3 Fps), I'd get a total of 21 FPs instead of 22 FPs. I lose the oldest FP even though its expiration date/time is not up yet.
I don't even want to start griping about the bleeding SS/Coins daily. It's not like I have several hundreds of SS saved to begin with and it makes me wonder why I'm losing so much when on average, I used up more than I earn for daily check-in since I follow 5-7 novels. I've dropped several now and just biding my time.

Hulu was good until they monetized everything and I hated logging in just to watch. Viki was good too, but when they changed the comment section by moving it from the top to the side during viewing , I lost interest completely.

Allow a one time conversion of paid SS to coins. Then keep the SS rewards similar, and make unlocking privilege a coin only thing. Allow users to only gift coins and choose which currency to spend on each novel. Change the reading and check in rewards to a spinner mini-game that on average gives less SS as time goes on, but everyone loves spinners, right? Eventually make a coin "discount" program where readers pay 1 coin per 200 words and 1 SS per 150 words. It would be perfectly in line with Webnovel's MO (as evidenced over the past 2-3 years), but it would be just slick enough that not everyone would catch on at once.

Debby_James We all know that that won't happen. There have been about 5 major "screw you"s from Webnovel since it began, and not one has been reversed. This one is only rivaled by the removal of progressive free unlocking of premium novels (Webnovel had at several points mentioned that they would NEVER paywall prior to premium).

So if there's no chance of it going back, why not suggest a more profitable alternative (for them) that would reduce the number of ruffled feathers? Personally, the fast passes are much better for me since I can now catch up on a certain 23 Coin per chapter novel. I do feel sympathy for readers who read 4 Coin per chapter novels, so bringing it back to a pseudo-status quo would be a win-win for Webnovel. And it would bring fairness back to readers in that each person's reading opportunity is approximately the same due to pricing by word count. The current implementation leaves a potential disparity of 6x and could negatively impact authors by reducing income for writers of longer chapters and reducing readers for writers of shorter chapters.

I've also always believed that readers should only be able to gift coins that carried value. Separating the currencies makes this more apparent that only the paid currency rewards authors. Free SS never made a difference to the author's paychecks. This would be a win for the authors as well.

I hate this new version ! Sooner or later people will get tired of this updating into new system which is becoming expensive. The older version of webnovel is way much better than now. Maybe admin is trying to imitate the way other reading novel providing app., but I tell you the previous version of webnovel is much better. I have tried the others but uninstall them right away coz it is too expensive just to read a chapter.

Yoshinocchii I agree with you! I can buy several novel from bookstore with the amount I am going to spend with this new system.
