[unknown] Reflect damage is OP. He already has such defense that he can stand still and be OK. But standing still and killing people is OP.
SHADOW HACK STUPID AUTHOR
[unknown] Besides. MC can use special Defense Skills. Attacker must use Attack skill and can't defend. So MC will receive very little damage, but attacker will need to endure the full brunt force of his own attack.
[unknown] yeah.. that ticked me off too.. maybe this choice of his would build up in the main plot.
Autarch_GRIM ... He's the author. He can build it up however he wants. But Having more defense isn't bad too as he can fight enemies of higher tiers. And his attack is good, he's not really depending on damage reflect.
Autarch_GRIM Hey i am here because a hot chick made a post, you?
uhm, I wouldn't agree with that all that much, not for this reason at least.
suppose you have 1000hp,50 % defence and 100% reflect damage
suppose I have 10000hp, deal 2000hp each attack and blablabla
things being like that, you would still die in one hit from me.
reflect damage has value only so long that you also have the defense and hp to go with it, it all depends on the order of magnitudes.
if he's attacked by someone VASTLY stronger than MC, who could 1hit ko MC with, say, using 10% of their power, that said attacker would get rebound damage equal to 10% of their power would be a "shrugs, drinks an healing potion" from the POV of the attacker.
And by standard cultivation logic, "vastly" stronger than MC will be basically everyone ever with an higher cultivation rank, it's ever the cliche that the gulf from a rank to the next is described as "enormous", to the point that "Rank X+1 cultivation level can effortlessly kill thousands rank X cultivators with barely any effort".
Flat %damage reduction is the gimmick which lets this MC overcome that in this particular flavor of the usual soup and I do agree with picking it over reflect damage.
Because it's not the battle with the mooks that make or break an hero, it's the boss battle!
now let me sulk in peace for defending shadow hack, I feel dirty :(
Reflection is only a good choice when fighting with someone of the same level.
What if the enemy heats up the environment or does some environmental attack? Causes a volcano to errupt under the MC while the attacker is immune to heat damage? So what if it is reflected the area attack is so wide MC still takes damage. How removing the air from the environment? Reflect isn't the end all be all of powers. Flat 20% against everything is OP. How can you reflect say poisoned air or food? 20 percent overall is way better.
I don't read and don't care for Shadow Hack, but don't you dare bash Spirit Sword Mountain. You obviously haven't read much of the story, yet you still dare to spout such ignorant words. A finest example of having eyes, but being unable to see Mt. Tai!
[unknown] Reflection damage is good when you have a large amount of resistance. In this case it was either the reflection of taken damage (an active skill) at the cost of the loss of a large amount of % resistance or buff again his "armor" taking even less damag. So it's not stupid...would you rather take always less damage or reflect a portion of the damage to the attacker but still getting the full damage?
ciopo U were wrong there. You said 100% reflect and then that the enemy would receive 10% of their attack. They would receive 100% of their attack and it would also be unexpected the first time. Though I still prefer the defence, he has enough attacking skills.
Autarch_GRIM Thanks mate
Well, let me put it another way.
In the cross-ranking battles he already had, it was his abnormal defence and abnormal attack that allowed him to overcome his battles, take for examples when he let the harpies hit him to check out how much leftover damage was he took after 4 layers blablabla..
Was there any mention of him reflecting back 10% of damage taken having any effect whatsoever on the opponent?
Putting aside that it isn't clear if the reflect is based on "damage taken" or "attacking power" .
Besides, that, my random example was a 100% reflect back for 100% of their attack, but that was only 10% of their HP. if MC has 1000 HP and 100% and opponent strike for 1000 damage and has 10000hp, result is MC dead and opponent at 9000 hp!
And the cross-ranking battles are the bread and butter of cultivation novels, so the MC real opponents WILL have magnitudes higher hp and attack power than MC.

Greetings, fellow readers.
The main focus of MC is survivability. Also he most likely never played games seriously so he can not model the ideal character or class. At least I got this feeling from previous chapters. Any real gamer will analyze and model there future path of development since start of a game or since getting system as in his case. But this guy is not a gamer and most likely not very smart and do not have calm or scheming personality either.
As for me I would have sit and analyze all skills and gear even if it is 10000+ pages to read but as you read before he did not want to do that and basically trust some AI to be his coach.
All people have different minds.
Best regards, Denis.

from what i remember about the skill reflection was lower and will be lower then def for a long time. getting more def at this point is way better then taking damage and reflecting part of it. if reflection continues advancing as it is currently then by the time its equal to or surpasses def his def would already be blocking 100%. at that point the only reason to bother with reflection would be for attacks that have the ability to ignore def and lets be honest you know its going to happen at some point in a novel like this one... well it might happen :P
have you ever been hit by someone stronger then you before? it can hurt and sometimes hurt a lot. if its not 100% reflection at current level then he does need higher def as some of it will get through and one hit getting through can be enough to end you in a novel like this.
i honestly want to see him with 100% reflection just b/c i want to read about some sage level prick killing himself :D
This novel is a harem merry go around chasing jade skinned girls around world while increasing his power. I dont expect much of a story from this novel except fulfillment and machismo. This novel really feels dull as i had not have a sense of anticipation from the moment the plot was focused more on relationship then on MC and increasing his power and also dat whole stupid and pointless secrecy thing.
