Lomacris This is nothing like the system in China. If they really follow that, you won’t even be here, you would be long gone.

Frosch Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most readers come from South East Asia?

immortal_corrupt I like how you called him rude, when he was nowhere near rude. Yet, here you are, bringing someone’s parents down.

And you forget the ss who expire...
20 for me every day sometimes ~50 ... damn it's hurt...

Oxy are you retard or something? you say it is free why should we talk about that?

I am against the fact that someone sells a product that is more expensive than its value.I don't know English very well everyone says there are lots of mistakes in chapters. And maybe you did not read my reply so ı will write again.

Frk_ozbk I want to give an example.Let's talk about "Harry Potter and Secrets Room".The book has a 316 page and
in my country, it is 4.5 $.Assume that the book has a thousand page.its price should be 14.2 $.
And let's look at premium chapters. For 1000 premium chapters we should spend 4000 ss(1 premium chapters 4 ss).
We can buy 4000 ss for 80$ on this site.I don't think this is a fair price.(i did not add bonus stones)

I am a student .I in a month I get a like 100$.I can't buy ss so probably I will go some site who are stealing from Qidian or ı will wait for free chapters

By the way ı love Qidian.if I have a chance I will definitely support them but ı can't afford this prices

Oxy who TF asked them to do all this? The tl community was perfectly fine with people working for or without donantions . The there idiots stepped in and now they are paywalling because they cant survive with their business model? its pure BS . These are guys are just trying to cash in on the growing TL culture . Its utterly disgusting .

Oxy maybe we have different criteria for judging a novels value? And I highly doubt library of heavens path went through as much editing and quality check as say I am legend, LoTR or the Harry Potter series. Even if it was up to that quality, a lot of that quality is lost in translation. Between the translator having to translate x chapters per week and them not having a publishing firm behind them to keep everything in check there's no way they can keep a standard of quality that high, it'd be a lot better if they took x amount of time for every 100 or so chapters and then released them as a sort of stand a lone thing.
Basically all I'm trying to do is restate that QI is charging a premium price for subpar products (relatively speaking.)

JanMeng Did you tag everyone who has posted in this thread? You have me listed four times and I have only pointed out one flaw in the Premium system. Where free chapters don't apply to users who purchase advance chapters.

Not against the message, just curious.

I dont want to stop you from arguing but comparing chinese novels to harry potter is really stretching it.
One is a printed medium which took several months of translation and quality checks before being released. How is that supposed to be possible with daily chapter releases, we'd need to wait for a translator to completely finish translating the whole novel. Imagine how long that would take with only 1 tl + 1 editor when certain chinese novels are several times the length of HP.
Not to mention that even with HP things got lost in translation and thats only from English to X language. Chinese is even harder to translate.
You simply cant compare a webnovel with daily releases to a printed novel (especially those where authors think god knows how many years about the plot).
I dont even know if theres even a single company doing publishing like QI does in the west.
(But they should still implement a subscription system)

[unknown] When we're just comparing book prices in regards to quality web novels should really cost less because of the drop in quality.
Adjusting the prices is kind of a big deal though, since there is something called fixed book price agreement in the west (although not every country takes part in this). I think its an important law, as to give new writers even a chance to compete with big sellers. (E-Book sellers like amazon or kobo cleverly work around this issue by not selling printed books and providing discounts, thus E-Books are generally way cheaper).
Now I'm not too sure how this applies to web novels (E-Books) in china. It's save to assume that china would never consider something like that though. Qidian seems too unfamiliar to how books sell in the west.

In my earlier post I mentioned assuming that Qidian will eventually have to change their pricing system if they want to have any sort of success in the west. I'm certainly standing by that and in no way defending the current premium system. It's just that this system is all we have for now and after all there are still daily free releases (albeit less than before due to premium novels). I still hope people dont turn to pirate sites and atleast bring some traffic to the official translators.

Vudis I like Qidian too but their prices should be fair.Lots of readers are students who do not have a job.Everyone says if you read 5 premium novels you can keep it up with fair prices but in the future, there will be more novels and more premium chapters and you need to spend more ss.And they are losing reader already they should change the system soon because I saw one of the pirate sites for "QIDIAN".They made a library for premium novels already.

                GregLuck let's see.
Let's assume from the novel you read, 5 of them are premium, with around of 8 SS / chapter.
So we assume that once you read a premium novel, you just don't get any benefit from free chapter because you read it to the last chapter available. The average chapter / week for each novel, are about 14.
Now that takes us to the cost of (8x14x5)= 560 SS/week.
You got login bonus (~10), vote bonus (5x2 = 10), watch ad (~10), all in all you got around 30/day or 210/week.
Well, we take it that most of your spirit stone are exhausted by the 1st week. So with a 560 - 210 =350 SS/week or 1400 SS/month.
Now, for 1400 SS/month the best option (for now) should be the $10 for 1500 SS.
After 11 March, that would be $30 for the 1000+500 SS per month.

That is in under the assumption of you got at least 30 free SS/day, only read 5 premium novel with an average 8SS/chapter, and the bonus spirit stone did not expired before you spend it.
