The title might seem a little aggressive, but many readers have been disappointed with the recent updates. The genre fast pass which you can't use for "your" favorite novels and cannot save it cause it expires, makes me sad and being my go to app from the past 2 years, it makes me sad that the app has gone from the best to bad (at the least).
It now doesn't even have the basic features working properly compared to other reading platforms.
Categories: Only few novels in a category except romance. Don't want to speak about them in comics.
Comics: Takes many attempts to load certain pages, for some comics it doesn't load
Writers: I am not knowledgeable about this, but a few author's have spoken about bad contracts. If it's wrong, then please do add what can be done to make the contracts for author's more friendly or discuss it with them.
Locked chaps: 1000's of chaps of novel gets locked from chapter 40. Ohhh.... right this is a free platform.
Profit: Who doesn't want it. But wouldn't people look for long time profits than short time. Heck, there are even people willing to donate if the app is good enough. People will simply read online somewhere else if your app has a system in which a novel costs more than a book brought from a book store.
Care about your readers and writers, not just by adding titles every week that you do, but also making changes that reflect it.
I could also list more, but these are the important ones in my opinion.
I am not an angry reader, just a disappointed one.
We still love this app, since we are spending hours on it. It's your wish if you do not care.
Just check your own platform, it's a humble request.

Coolest_rockest03 I understand where you're coming from -- but you're looking at it from a buyer standpoint. Let's look at it from a business perspective.

The categories feature makes things a lot easier to manage, if this was a problem they would've been changed by now. Apparently, there are two types of WebNovelists -- those looking for romance and those looking for action. As a writer with a female lead, I completely agree that my work shouldn't be named "Fantasy Romance" because it isn't. However, despite this change, 46% of my readers are males... So it being categorized as a Romance doesn't really do much since people look for tags like "Action" or "Adventure." The sub-categories also allow for easier searching.

As far as the comics, who knows, maybe it's them, maybe it's you. I've been reading comics and I haven't had this problem. Probably check your cache, web browser, or update your phone.

If Writers HAVE been talking bad about contracts then they need to realize two things. 1) You're a sole individual trying to sign a contract to a multimillion-dollar business, Qidian, not WebNovel. If you don't want to consult with a lawyer or read your contract thoroughly then that's your fault. And 2) You don't have to sign the contract, you're doing it at your own discretion. Want to release your work without having to sign a deal? Go to Wattpad, Medium, or another site, no one is holding a gun to your head.

Locked Chapters, let's look at this from the author's standpoint. Realistically, if I'm under let's say MGS, and I'm writing 2-3 chapters a day, I can't go back to edit them when I'm trying to write tomorrow's or next week's chapters. This gives the author extra time for corrections, translators for translations, and editors to well, edit and give advice.

Not only this but back to the business perspective, they have to make money. Sure, they could give all the chapters for free but, let's see... Payroll/Wages, Utilities, Rent/Mortgage Interest, Covering Operation Expenses, Web Services, Supplier Costs, Property Expenses, and other fees.

How do you think they're going to pay for it all? Are you gonna send them the thousands they need to keep this site going?

In conclusion, as a buyer, you have the right to complain. But you need to think of everyone else that's involved in all of the cases you brought up. They have the right to complain too.

I will be honest, I don't love the new way they are categorizing their passes. That being said, I do wish that I could at least track what passes I had, so I could then see if there was a book to "use" the pass on, instead of "letting it expire."

WinterTimeCrime I have been thinking of this from both sides and I believe the previous spirit stones system was a good one and I won't deny even the fast passes one can be a middle ground, but the genre passes doesn't make sense and not to mention, the chaps that are locked from chapter 40-60, but is currently having more than 800+ chaps. I love this app, so I am ranting about it. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but the readers also don't have any obligation to spend a lot of money (and I mean a ridiculous amount) per novel and my library currently has at the least 5 of them. I appreciate the Author's hard work as well, since I have written a few chaps myself (Trust me it takes a lot longer than you read them).
So, I might sound a bit harsh, but I want atleast someone from their team to notice it and maybe think of something, because the current system is not optimal.
As for the other, I believe you might be right. But they need to update new books in the other categories like sci fi, harem...... There are many new to be included.

        It's too long....sigh

WinterTimeCrime I never said all chaps for free, but they could try maybe free unlocking chaps from lower end
Example, If author published chap 801, then chap 41 gets unlocked
Again, just an idea. But business is also about buyer satisfaction. I'm just pointing out the obvious that webnovel has many competitors as well as difficulties to face and ........

Note: It might look like I am criticizing webnovel, but it's not. I have just stated some problems I have felt personally might cause some inconvenience to the readers and maybe on a deeper note, the Authors.

Coolest_rockest03 sharing this from a businessman point of view, I think they check. It just sometimes not bother by it is better than solving it.

It was like uber service here in UK, where the cash payment is an option, but they're forever unavailable to choose this option because all the driver hate touching cash. (Can you believe my bull?)

Let's say you found a site that allow you to read for free, why bother to come here to rant? Is there an achievement for you to get or you're just toxic? Think about it before you think further. Always think before you speak, because life are always sweet until that d+mn mouth you use to kiss your parent start speaking.

I personally come from reading free books to fan translation, mtl, here and there, until supporting authora here. If it's about reading, I think I paid over a year of my total salary just to enjoy and the fantasies the author tried to deliver. Have I regret it?

            Nope.

Have I even feel it was a piece of sheet that not worth paying?

            Nope.

So I don't see why it's worth bringing the hoo-ha up as if they burn your eyes. If reading make you getting so toxic, consider resting a little or go read something soothing, like hentai. You need to distress a little.

Honestly for a good year and half, I was using this app every single day. I bought ss, coins, privilege and even had a membership. It just felt like every single update made it harder to enjoy reading on the app. I love reading the trial books but every single one became locked after 40 chapters. It used to be more, at least 100 chapters.

The fact that fast passes expire in a week and then making it so they're genre specific without the ability for you to choose which genre you want is just dumb. Now I have to rely on RNG to see what books I can read? As a normal person, I can't be spending $100s every week to read all the books I have in my list.

Now I barely spend 10mins on the app each day. Surely there is a better way than pricing out the people who can't afford to pay a lot. At least make fast passes expire in a month and can be used for all books and comics. Add more ways to earn fast passes. I truly believe the more time a user spends on the app, the more likely they are to spend money. So find ways to keep them! Not like now when you're out of things to do within 15mins.

              yungsern87

Brother, here's my issue. I WANT to support the authors. And its great that you're able to spend a years worth of salary. But a lot of people can't. The only thing I spend hundreds on each week is food and webnovel as an app makes it so expensive to support authors and enjoy reading.

tank_engine That's really depending on each person. Although I believe that I am not qualified to comment about how you spend your money, but based on a rough calculation of mine, a 10usd could last quite a while depending on how you read.

                10usd equals to 500 coins
500 coins divided by 9 coins a book (their average cost for author who writes 1500words or more per chap) make it's enough to purchase 55chapters.

Based on some writers writing speed, which is around 2 chapters a day, and let's say you have ten authors to support, that's like 20 purchase per day. So 10 usd is enough for you to support 10 books for two to three days depending on how you stretch it.

This is calculated based on my own activities (because I hardly chase over something to the point of obsession) so in my own case, I can see myself buying like 30 USD worth of coins per week, or its 120 dollars a month.

I think my speed of reading is enough for me to chase an author's work to the latest chap quite quickly. While in meantime, get myself a life outside of the apps. So far, I'm doing good.

                What about you?

Also, when it comes to support an author, monetary helps. Free pass doesn't. Discounts, free reading, more passes, cheaper chaps are actually detrimental to the author because at the end of the day, what's read is read, you might not turn back to what you didn't pay for and pay for it again.

I think by support, an author will like it more if you contribute 9 to 12 coins per day to their daily updates along with some comment, power stones, and view count.

Supporting them by having more free passes is akin to going into a coffee shop, asking for free coffee and showing your presence there.

To a business owner like me, I'll pray to the god to kill this man when he left my shop and went out to the street. Know why?

Cos this bugger that came for free coffee not only cost my electricity, coffee, worker to make that coffee, but also the cost of the cup, sugar, milk, he use before dumping the used cup into the bin that my staff have to clear later. It's all come up to the cost. And do I earn anything from him? Nope, nothing except a small talk. If he advise me or my workers about how to live our lives, it's even worst, because word come from somebody asking for free stuff is never wise.

Maybe, there's is some views, coins, you've been giving them, but that's really all you've done. It's not like from the 10usd you spent on the coins = 5 or 8usd went into the author's pocket (if that's true, I'll go back and write my 1million word transmigrated upgrade specialist again)

yungsern87 Yes dear, it's all my fault because I am not a good person like you. I don't care about webnovel, I don't care about the other readers out there, I don't care that this being the best novel app, is being foreshadowed by other platforms. I don't care that this is under suggestions and it might never be noticed by the webnovel team. I don't love my 2years stay with webnovel. I don't care, I literally don't care ( Sarcasm).
At least I am happy that there's good readers like you who will stick through everything and will never say anything wrong about their features. Because we don't deserve to make webnovel the best, because we have you, my friend.
I failed everyone guys. Sorry that I'm a toxic bit*h.

yungsern87 Maybe Ads might and not in the middle of reading a chap. I am not an expert on this, they could try something related to it. It's a bit complicated situation. Maybe it's reasonable, maybe not. But hey, I am not webnovel. So, atleast they should know what many of the other readers think. There are also other forums on genre pass, so I don't believe I am the only one who thinks that atleast the universal fast passes are better than the genre passes.
Haha....I don't want them to make it completely free. That's improbable.
But maybe something for atleast the large novels with 1000+ chaps locked at chap 40 or 60

And I am not asking about the why's, I want to know how we, the readers, authors and webnovel work so that everyone can have atleast a decent (if not good) experience together.
Might start working with the problems we have, they have and maybe and just maybe
                      Find a better solution.
And do buy the memberships if you want as support, it's a good gesture, nothing wrong with it. Just don't hope everyone to buy it and also I don't expect membership priveleges.
But I hope that I could read atleast, atleast read 3 chaps (don't start me on the number) a day without membership on my favorite novel.

Any interesting ideas or a new feature u think might be good or needs to be updated are appreciated. I would like to know if some of the more knowledgeable readers on this topic do have any ideas, feel free to express them.

Coolest_rockest03 I actually have one. Is it possible for a novel to have the same current free pass system plus a pooling system where certain views, stones, points, gifts, position ( not sure which can be good and feasible enough) are enough to unlock chaps or is it possible after any modifications to this idea?
