I have just spoken to Customer service. The fast pass is removed on the PC and you get points no for your daily check ins. These points can be used in "the store". There is no store via PC or browser only via the ap. Hense they have exchanged fast pass which can be used for worthless currency(points) for all PC users and browser users.

I love how many consider that webnovel strangling the freemium users on PC is suicidal.

Have you morons clued into the fact yet that reading chapters for free, in no way shape or form has supported either the authors of the books you profess to like nor the site that hosts them? You lot wetting your diapers and screaming about leaving... really don't matter. Like, at all.

Consider, you provide a carpool, four of the five riders pay for gas occasionally paying in home made snacks. The fifth rider doesn't put a lick of money towards keeping the car running, they only bring you insta coffee from home. One day you need to get a repair for the car so you do away with the free ride contribution accepting only cash. The first four riders are still gonna pay as normal. However the fifth rider throws a hissy fit that you no longer accept that swill they always brought and threaten to ride the bus instead. Do you think you will honestly care about freemium rider number 5 whatsoever? I mean for years you let them ride for free but because you can't anymore you're the bad guy?

Honestly anyone with a clue would tell rider five to go to hell and give detailed directions. And this is the same for fast pass users. Freebie reading is a gift of the host, if they choose to discontinue you have the brass balls to bitch about it?

    This is a good point.

I understand that there are a lot of readers who can't afford it, but if you think about the difficulties of publishing a webnovel, you'll understand that dropping the fast pass isn't necessarily a bad point, but it can be a turning point for authors.

As for those who cannot pay, as everyone knows, there are pirated sites...

Only readers who really want to follow a novel to their liking and who are willing to give authors some gifts as compensation, are the ones who don't make use of these pirated sites.

In short, the webnovel will not end, because believe me, there are many readers willing to support the authors.

Darth_Xiane all they're doing is forcing people to pirate. No one sane pays for WN's stuff because it's a recurring payment to rent the rights to see something. You pay 15+ dollars, unlock 20ish chapters, and then every single month thereafter you have to pay the same absurdly high price to not lose what you originally paid for. Every month after the first you are literally paying to give a pittance to an author and an absurd amount to WN for literally nothing. You get nothing new, and if you don't pay you actually lose chapter access, to the point it's as if you'd never paid at all, because it's a zero sum game.

This is just another example of WN's dogshit money grubbing practices alienating users. No one who could actually be considered sentient paid because the paid service was shit. Now the free service is shit too, to try get more people to pay, because no one wants to pay, because everything is overpriced and doesn't actually provide anything while requiring endless payment, until the end of a novel.

Also, interaction and voting with power stones actually does provide something to the author (and webnovel). Power stone voting is pretty obvious; the author becomes more popular and therefore more likely to be found by subhumans who are willing to pay a not insignificant chunk of their limited amount of money on D tier authored stories with 1/8th the value per word of good novels on discount. Like, who the fuck would pay 10 USD per month on a once off unlock of 16 privileged chapters of MVS when you could get the entire 1.3 million words of the first 3 Stormlight Archive novels for Kindle for 16 dollars on discount or 21 in paperback at full price, and never have to pay for them again. That compared to 16 chapters, which if you don't keep paying every single month to keep, you lose. First month you pay, you get 16 new chapters to read, and every day thereafter, you get the same number of chapters as you would if you weren't paying. Second month, you pay again so you don't lose those 16 chapters, and you get nothing a free reader wouldn't get. Same number of chapters per day, except you're actually losing 16 chapters if you don't pay. It's literally a scam/extortion lmao. No one sane's reading this shit on webnovel because they think it's worth paying for, they're doing it because it's free and they can meme in the comment section. You can literally get 3 whole, physical epic fantasy novels by the widely considered best currently active fantasy author for the price of 2 months of webnovel's dogshit literally-a-scam privileged service for ONE novel. So much reading you can practically read for the entirety of your spare time, for that same 2 months. And you have a physical product to enjoy.

Beyond that, a thriving community of commenters and such are a big part of what separates WN from Amazon. On amazon you get reasonable prices and good books. On Webnovel you get a horrific price point and generally bad writing, but significant amounts of community interaction, which in turn leads to greater investment in the community. That makes someone more likely to wind up paying for a book's privileged scam chapters.

Free readers indirectly provide income to both authors and Webnovel. Shitting on their experience means that they're just going to read their trash tier time passing web novels on free websites with better layouts for reading, and less hoops to jump through to get chapters free.

Yeah so that was ramble-y, but the gist is WN sucks, they're doing this because they're not earning enough money for their liking, and they're not earning enough money because they suck. Solution: take to the high seas!

Darth_Xiane Although I agree with you, it still sucks. I use both coins and fast passes when I read the chapters, saving the fast passes for the longer chapters in that specific novel. That saved me quite a few coins. I think fast passes had the biggest impact for comics since they come out normally on a weekly basis. I think at the end of the day this will bring more income for Webnovel, since the people that bought coins won't mind too much. But PC newcomers will be put off since there is not much of a point in visiting the site daily.

[unknown] if you add a translator to your application, then I will be happy to use it. And so for now I will read on pirate sites

      [unknown]
Whoa, really uncle calm down now. Just because we don't use coins to unlock chapters doesn't mean we don't gift our fav books or buy privilege to support the author. If you don't want us here we'll leave. You're just attacking everyone ranting on this website. Please did webnovel pay you for this promotion because we don't need it. I don't know if you're a contracted author and I don't care to know. You're talking about freebie readers. What about readers that pay? Isn't it half of your generated income you'll receive while the app takes the remaining 50%? Oh, and not only that, they also get complete copyright of your brainchild. Thinking of those that keep their copyright, they only get 35% of their revenue. This means if your novel generates an average of $2,000 every month, you only receive $700. Of which it won't be the complete one because bank charges would be excluded, leaving you with about 30% income out of your sweat. Who does that?
Then when people are trying to let off some steam you call them freebie readers and ask them to leave the website.
I don't want to talk more than this please leave the people alone, they have the freedom to do whatever they want and it includes leaving or staying.

Darth_Xiane I don't know about you, but I still get adds on the Pc version, aka I give them money, and I still do fairly frequently buy chapters or gifts to support my favorite authors or buy privilage, but now I quite literally can only read by paying now, and it just isn't worth it. Like it would be more cost-efficient to just sorta.... buy books? The whole draw of webnovels is that they're more accessible to both readers and authors, but now that accessibility was just killed. Why would I read something on a site for a massive fee when I could just buy a book instead? I stuck around and payed occasionally so far out of good will towards the authors, but now it's so cost-inefficient that you'd have to be an idiot to keep reading. I'd rather go to a pirate site than make financially irresponsible choice in regards to pursuing entertainment. Not only that, but if webnovel themselves where truly against fast passes and allowing readers, they would ban it on the website too. It's pretty obvious the only reason they did it to the pc version is to funnel people twards their fairly trashy app, but I hate reading on my phone as well as how it bombards you with adds every five seconds and has the world least intuitive homepage, so I'd rather either simply not read or again, go to pirate sites. Pc readers dropping webnovel is not a matter of the morality of fastapasses, it's simply waying financial incentives and making fiscally responsible choices.
