Mute well...I assumed it was a poor translation rather than the author, nut same result...unreadable novels.

Mute Whilst this is still true a year on from the time of your comment. I'm going to say that the quality of stories to this site's catalog has improved due to the fact there are more native English speakers posting stories here.

You're not going to find a 100% grammar error free story posted here, since most of us are using this place to post our drafts and gain feedback (hopefully) as we go.

I think the quality has probably improved by 85%, although it's still a task of digging for a pony to find that grammatically well written story.

Grammar aside, I think the Romance category needs to improve on its diversity as there are too many versions of common tropes in Webnovel's catalog. That is another area of discussion of whether to write to the trope masses appeal to in this current day and age or go out on a limb to write something different to be classified as original.

Mute In this case, it's 'written by', not 'written with'. As an English grammar specialist you should know it.
But we neverthless were able to understand you, so you should give another chance to those who can't master English as well as you.

SrtaA Good thing i'm not trying to write novels, dumbass.

Trying to nitpick an obvious typo when someone is giving legitimate criticism over the quality of original novels.

        Mute Paraphrasing Inigo Montoya:
"Typo. (...) I do not think it means what you think it means."
Swapping prepositions is not a typo. I was just trying to say that nobody is immune to English mistakes, and showed you a valid example.
"Dumbass?" Just keep your ad hominem 'argument' to another place.
        Anyway... Let's not extend it.

        • Mute replied to this.

SrtaA it means exactly what i think it means, a typographical error.

And the English used in many original novels isn't just a typo here and there, it's almost like they write it in their native tongue and feed it into a translation program.

Mute The problem is that you didn't commit a typo error. That was a grammatical error, not a typo. One does not simply accidentally type "by" as "with" - that's a grammatical mistake, not something you mistyped.

That does not take away the legitimacy of your criticism, of course.

I do have to point out that there are also many original stories that are written with good grammar and vocabulary. You just have to find them. They just aren't ranked highly or are pretty obscure because the good/native English writers tend to experiment with different genres and try new things rather than clone the usual xianxia/CEO/LitRPG formula ad infinitum.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL What should I do if I want to be provided with the promotion slot? Or whom should I contact for the promotion?

                WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL (1) Improve the quality of your novel

Actually those tips are not bad. Seriously, the more you read, the better idea you have. That I will agree with. As for the writing techniques.... Yea... Even premium novels can have wrong techniques sometimes.

I would go with really, and I mean really well written stories. Book of authors... is just not useful, sorry. So yea, you can "spy" on others and their technique, but ultimately, you should work with what is the best for you. Just because one person is popular with a narrative style, that doesn't mean you should follow that as well (Just because it is popular).

Good title is also useful, but I've seen rubbish titles and they were quite popular. So I guess, it's really a up to the reader's preference. Synopsis? Again, some people like straight up all the info, while others prefer subtle more mysterious approach. You can find readers both ways.

Yep, I agree with cover. Some novels have none. When I see none, I immediately assume this guy/gal is not serious. Just as the officials pointed out, we as Humans are attracted towards pictures. Therefore a good cover is really useful.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL (2) Increase the exposure of your novel

No. 1 and 2 are fine. The No. 3 is :D I mean yea you can try, but who the hell is gonna do that? If you were friends or very like serious fans of these authors, perhaps? By as a new author... I don't think you have any chances there. I think 4 refers to app? I don't use the app, so I don't know.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL (3) Maintain and manage your reader relationship

No. 1 is correct and incorrect. True, you should communicate with your readers, answer questions and correct mistakes they point out. What you shouldn't do, is change your story, because 1 guy doesn't like it. That's just not how it works.

No. 2? You can try, if people want to review, they will. If they don't, no mater what you offer, they simply wont. It's not the problem of your content, but simply indifference of userbase.

No. 3 is just asking for impossible. Loads of Authors release on "write-publish" basis. I write a chapter one day, and publish it the same day. To stockpile, you have to have time. There are two ways you can possibly achieve that. 1 is before you publish anything. You stockpile let's say 30 chapters, and then write everyday, but you release only let's say 6 chaps a week. This would allow you mass releases. Or if you take holiday :D If you are like many authors, who work or go to school... no chance. Weekends perhaps, but then you sacrifice your off time in other words, sacrifice your holiday :D (Comes down to the same thing).

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL According to a pseudo-scientific claim of sociologists, 21 days can cause a person to adopt certain practices as a habit.

Pseudo scientific... Which means, not scientific. Therefore there is no need to push yourself, and pay for it with stress or whatever, just to release every day. It's fine to have a schedule of 6/5 or even 4 chapters a week. The pseudo scientific way works here too. If you make it a habit, your readers will get used to 5/week, and will not complain.

I have no clue how No. 5 works, so no comments here.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL (4) Let your Editor know you

I'm pretty sure only premium novels get editors, so this concerns a small minority of authors, not all authors. By the way, as some already said "RIP Dana". With so may people, she/he is dead from msg overload.

There you go, a long post, but I analysed all the points the officials wrote. Some are correct, while others... not so much. Take it as you will, and hope this revised list helps you better :D

How to boost original novel?. most of the translated copies are given bad in grammar and translation.

.....someone actually necroed such an old thread. Does Dana even exist now? Even edgarry and ina have disappeared after the new editors have arrived not to mention princess sunny doesn't look at mortals.
