China literature is known for their slave contracts, locking in copyrights upwards of 18+ years.
The truth is Amazon is a much smarter avenue for an author than a contract with QI. There is a broader audience and the terms are very lucrative. Plus with Kindle Unlimited it can help gain exposure for lesser known authors.
Not to mention an author doesn't have to write the equivalent of 2-3 books a month in order to get paid $400. Thus they can avoid the carpal tunnel issues that the poster mentioned.
The author also doesn't have the stress of having to release something daily/weekly. They are free to create as they have time, to switch to different stories when they want, etc
