shelwyn I have to say that I take some offense to the unfeelingness of your post. It is despicable.
- Carpal Tunnel & Repetitive Stress injuries are not something to be mocked. The numbness, aching, burning, tingling, sensations especially when you wake up are horrific. It can set the tone for the whole day.
I've had to wear special splints/gloves at night in order to help treat the symptoms. AND YES taking a day off to rest the hands can help tremendously on the swelling and the pain. I can't imagine how hard it must be for a writer who has to write 4000 words per day WITH NO DAYS OFF.
I've been able to address my carpal tunnel/RSI but even now I still get the occasional pain in my finger joints due to my field (IT Admin/support). I've learned to take breaks but that doesn't always help. Arthritic fingers are almost definitely in my future :(. Still, it's the field I chose and I can accept it.
Waist & kidney failure - I can't speak for the waist but I have an 18yr old niece who had to leave work and go to the emergency room due to the pain from kidney stones. I've never had them but from her & friends I've heard, it is some of the most debilitating pain until you can pass the stones.
Sounds kinda hard to work. But someone unfeeling might not understand.
- Child Falling Ill - Even more of a reason for understanding and compassion. When you have a sick child and are worrying about them it becomes hard to focus on writing some fluffy words to appease some uncaring reader.
But then again it's something you might not understand.
