Worst trope is hero v. Demon King. Straight up. Can't stand it in any way, shape, or form, because the ending doesn't have much room for change. Also, the isekai classroom summoning, the cringe kingdom...
ewwwww, just thinking of it grosses me out.

I love litrpg.
I love cultivation.
The only problem is, I don't really like it when the main character has some cringe overreaching plot that they must reply to. Why does there have to be a plot? And if there isn't a plot, why does the story have to be slice of life?
Of course, not all web novels are like this. I've come across one web novel so great that it has blown my mind....
Azarinth Healer.
Endless grinding, and all about adventure, with no underarching plot. That's just what I'm looking for.
Oh, also, only violent main characters please. That's the only reason why I don't like Beneath the Dragoneye moons very much.
Honestly, there are a couple of other webnovels getting there. Delve is one of them, only crushed by it's crushingly slow pace of advancement and focus on the stupid town. As for the others... I can't remember them anymore.
Finally, I think the key too a good endless grind webnovel is a good system. A system that doesn't just leave you bored. The systems in delve and Azarinth Healer have especially interesting systems, to me.
Alright, that's all I've to say. Now, it's up to you guys to let the creative juices flow in.
Let the endless grind begin (hopefully)
Hey.... just wanted to tell everyone that it's Twosday! 2/22/22! Get it? It's also Tuesday...
Misguided_Rooster yep... I gotta say that the word 'fate is a major turn off for me. Minus 1 star just for that word.
I click on a novel because of it's synopsis, and reviews that I try not to look at. Really do not look at review before you read a book they just ruin everything. Some guys can be really venemous.
So, the synopsis. There are two things that I cannot stand in a synopsis.
One, anything telling me what the book is supposed to look like at the end. Like, I don't want to know that Human God is the last cultivation realm. I want to slowly find out as the mc grows stronger in the story.
And two, I absolutely positively exponentially HATE IT WHEN THEIR IS ANY MENTION OF A DARNED CONSPIRACY OR A DARNED EVIL PLOT OR A DARNED 'WILL THE MC SAVE HUMANITY OR?'. OR A STUPID 'HE HAS A GREATER PURPOSE THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW' OR 'THE ENTIRE WORLD IS AGAINST HIM' I BETTER GET NONE OF THAT! Okay rant over. I just hate such synopsis so much. Even though I dislike the things I just listed, I would not hate them so much if they were just mentioned in the story itself, as the mc grows. Seriously none of that or else I turn away instantly. In fact I prefer simpler synopsis that just give a general overview of what is happening at the start of the story.
shadowdrake27 LOL laughing so hard, too hard. But I gotta add my trope too. Ye Yun is sitting in a restaurant. A young master walks up. Ye Yun stares at him. The young master instantly gets enraged and shouts, "who are u looking at you mongrel peasant! Beat him to death, I will take responsibility!" Bet you can guess what happens next... Arrogant young master is beaten, then later on more conflict yadda yadda yadda, and then he is killed. Then comes big brother, uncle, third uncle, eldest uncle, father, grandfather, and then ancestor. Yeah no. NO ARROGANT YOUNG MASTER IT DRIVES ME INSANE! Also, adding to this please no stories where the mc gets his arse kicked around all the time. I can accept being weak in the beginning but surely there is no need to always be fighting against fate with all odds against him? Why can't he be actually stronger than his enemy and not just win because of plot armor? And hey if you want a good female lead book try Azarinth Healer from royalroad. Not chinese but it's a good book. If you dislike litrpg though then don't bother.
I think the biggest problem really is that the translators hired do not have English as their first language. Unless they are unparalleled super geniuses (no offense translators) then their Chinese would be a 10 and their English more like a 4. At least, I suck at Spanish even though I took it for so many years. I believe that the problem is not that the translators don't want to write well, but that they can't, because they can't understand why we add -ing to our sentences just like I can't understand crap about kanji. This is just my educated guess though, could be right or wrong.
Thanks, I'll definitely try it. I tried it before but did not read enough so I'll pick it up again
Tomoyuki Yeah but I was reading that at another time, years ago when I just started reading. I agree that I would probably not like it anymore now. I was just using it as an example.
I'm surprised noone mentioned Overgeared.
So, it's like this. I've been reading novels now for 4-5 years, and you start getting picky now after reading all of the cliche and ordinary novels. While I am not against those cliches too much, I don't like them a lot either. So, I'm wondering if anyone has any novels fitting these requirements.
-The main question for this discussion, and the one in the title, is an mc with progressive improvement. By that I mean I want the mc to sit down and cultivate and improve, not the novel saying "And so he cultivated for ten days and broke through to the 2nd stage of Qi Cultivation." No, I want something more like "He cultivated for five days and broke through to the 2nd stage of Qi Cultivation. A couple days later, he broke through in his Pure Lightning Art, reaching the 3rd level."
You get what I'm saying? I don't like the whole breaking through in battle thing. I also don't like authors who skimp on the cultivating sessions, I want full details! It would be best if the mc has great perception and comprehends things easily. Please note that easily does not in any way mean instantly. I'm talking about an hour to the initial stage, a couple days to minor completion, several days to greater completion, and a month or two to completely mastered. Can get longer if cultivation starts to take longer, like 10 years to raise one stage (reference Lord Xue Ying).
Also, the story cannot be too slow. I read all of Reverend Insanity and an not planning to read another such slow novel anytime soon. Oh, and please make sure the novels have at least 100+ translated chapters.
If you are wondering what novels fit most of what I asked for, look at Peerless Battle Spirit and especially Eternal Reverence which fits my specifications to a tee. Also, most I Eat Tomatoes novels are like this, so don't recommend those either as I have read all of his books.
Alright that's it. Please give me some ideas guys I'm desperate right now!
Yeah me too!
