DarkImmortal_Intel What novel was it?
Premium Vs Patreon
Positive_Lullaby I just want to support them too. I can't just read for free for ever.
Of course if it don't expensive like Patreon.
natto Yeah hahahaXD atleast they let us read other novels for free
Hyper_pumpkin not for much longer
Lomacris KILL JOY xD
Self control is needed no matter what. Just don't spend money you don't have on something like this. Go to library to get some kicks while waiting for em to be available will do.

natto Ok let me explain the difference to you. Lets take a look at Qi system;
Lets take Immortal Mortal for example.
24 chs/week release rate
7 chs/week for free
24 - 7 = 17ch
So every week 17ch will be added into the premium pool. Immortal Mortal started with 10 premium chapters. After a week there will be 27 premium chapters. Next week that will become 44... After 3 months you will be 214 chapters behind premium readers. Understand the system?
Now lets look at patreon;
You will be behind a fixed number of chapters behind the paying people. The number will never grow. If they are giving out 10 chapters early access, then it will always stay as 10 chapters. You will never be behind more than that 10 chapters. It won't grow to hundreds of chapters like in Qi system. Understand the difference?
You can stop paying for patreon any time you want, but if you start reading premium chapters in Qi, you better not stop till the end of the novel. Because once you stop, it will take months for free chapters to catch up to the point you are at and it will be pointless that you payed to unlock chapters to that point. So if you start unlocking premium chapters, you better be ready to keep doing it till the end of the novel...
"whale" is kinda out of proportion, I'll ballpark immortal mortal at about 25ish bucks if what I've heard of it being about 1200ish chapters long ? that sounds about fair for a book, far as microtransaction goes that's on the dirty cheap side of things, whales are people that spend tens of thousands bucks/month and upward from there.
That aside, partial spending would still be feasible, N0xiety, because even if one wouldn't want to buy spirit stones anymore, there is still the check in bonus, so at minimum advancing one premium chapter a day is possible.

ciopo But then what was even the point of reading to that point by unlocking the chapters? If you are gonna stop, you might just as well wait for free chapters from start and read 1 free chapter per day. If you are gonna start unlocking tho, stopping isn't a good idea since it would be pretty much pointless. You better have the conviction to keep unlocking untill the novel reaches it's end...
and now i regret unlock RTW premium chapter. premium chapter is just like blackhole to your spirit stone. once you join premium, you lose your right to get free chapter, every new chapter will become premium chapter, and if you want to stop, you need to wait till the free reader catch up to you.
its okay if its just 10 chapter, you can still wait for free reader, but based on the calculation there will be hundreds of premium chapter in a month and maybe thousand in a year. can you wait that long ? i think its better to stop now and just become free reader, its not worth it. its a black hole
natto I hope it never becomes premium or else another novel on my list will have to take the backseat. Immortal Mortal, Rise of the Legendary Guardian, and Release the Witch have already taken the fall. IM is the novel which got me started on Qidian and I’m really sad to let it go.
Re: Patreon vs Premium
Patreon is entirely voluntary and it depends on the donor on how much he/she wants to shell out. The premium system on the other hand is somewhat forcing the avid readers (fans) of the selected novels to pay for the updates.
I hope the ads system gets re-implemented soon on the premium novels. It’s just so much of a buzzkill from getting 3 chapter updates down to 1 per day.
Thank god I'm always waiting a few months to binge read a whole story arc. This change would make me so salty otherwise.
