        TypeFantasyHeart the daily unlocking mechanism is the mechanism which unlocks premium chapters (usually at 7ch/wk rate or less) for free. It is the alternative release rate for non-premium users who have never unlocked premium.

        You can observe the dates at which free chaps were unlocked from novelupdates.

        I think you can use ss of any type(either bonus or paid).
        This is a message for non-premium users who have never unlocked chapters using ss for chaps.

        Previously, users had a choice of being free user or unlocking bonus chaps using ss(premium are bonus and previously, they were a choice). Now, we might be stripped of the choice and must pay ss.

        I may be wrong, though. But, that mechanism is also named as the daily unlocking mechanism.

        At any rate, it is a shitty policy. This will compel free users to use ss, if they wish to see it till the end. 😠😠

          Well... its not like we didn't see this coming, the question was how soon, just based on the way they dealt with all that drama with translator websites. Slowly but surely they've been taking back what they promised back when they first started webnovels, and soon, everything will be premium only. As expected.

          While they can do what they want with the novels since they own them, it is another example of QI failing in the trust department. At least we can still unlock them with daily bonus, if they took that away, I would just stop reading on the site entirely. If enough people don't like their new strategy and complain/stop reading, I'm sure they would change their position. We will see what the scope of the premium chapters are that remain locked under SS forever in twoish weeks.

            FleetingClouds I know of a few translating groups that make nearly $30,000 a month translating. (They have hundreds of thousands of people following them, and a minority of those followers make the translating staff's pockets full). Not sure how well QI takes care of there staff. And kinda funny how QI directly copy pasta's those translators finished works onto the site to take the glory and charge people. kakakakakaka (The original translators go back to making nearly nothing once those LN's are finished translated. - they have to gamble on finding another popular LN that has a steady income. So it's a hit or miss for there teams, and you see them start a project, and quickly stop after a month if it hasn't picked up traction and start a different LN.)

                Considering this thread was posted nearly a day ago and with the amount of money pumped into the company youd think at least 1 administrator or representative would clarify such a substantial implication, personally I'm a premium user for certain novels but that is a minority many I read for free and if they become premium with how ss are priced and the sheer number and the commitment required for some books I would be looking at near £200 to read one whole book and that is something many people surely cannot afford to be spending

                  Lol, £200 will be cheap! Some of the novels will run that much annually. If you are paying to read 7-8 Premium novels it could run you £75-100 Monthly! That's factoring in the free SS which lets you read 2-3 Premium chapters daily.

                          some premium chapters cost 12-13 SS to unlock, if they translate 15 chapters per week that will be 60 chapters per month and that costs 720 SS to unlock, so in 2 months you will be spending $25 on a mere 120 chapters in a single novel!! you can imagine how outrageously expensive it will be if you were reading multiple novels.

                          Mere mortal like me just can persevere with unlocking a chapter per my daily SS.

                                The problem (at least for me) is not that they stopped free chapters for premium novels, as it was blatant that they came to the international market because there saw that there was money to make here and publishing is a business.
                                The problem is that it is only the last of a long string of unanounced policy change, each more and more inconvenient to the casual reader, who what they will do next. That's not the behavior of a company that want to create a respected brand in a new market, building trust in its new consumer base.
                                One of their big argument when they started this website was that they are professionals and will bring better standards. But their "standards" seems to be acting like those greedy and overbearing "young masters" that you can find in nearly all of their novels, and there only so much slaps in the face this reader will accept, so goodbye I no longer have any trust in Quidan and their webnovel.com website.

                                  Was wondering why novels were not updating. Seems i need to do a mass culling of premium books out my library. Refuse to pay more than a normal book would cost just for a few chapters.
