Peaches That is just a false equivalency to equate the content on webnovels as the best literary production of the Chinese people. Webnovels are webnovels and published novels are published novels, one does not equal to the other. That would be me saying all the western fan-fics are the best the western literary world has to offer. That is just factually untrue.

Webnovels are not a representation of Chinese literature so please do not draw that false equivalency and lampoon the rich history of a whole nation and its people based on a narrow view that you get from reading webnovels, a media that is specifically catered to a particular audience.

Yeah, I don't know what Peaches was smoking. Besides, it's not as if only Chinese (or Asian) stories contain that sort of thing. There's also quite a lot of violence, abuse and toxic relationships in Western fiction as well, but obviously none of us see those as the best literary production of the "West". Kind of weird to jump to such conclusions when your only exposure to Chinese novels are translations of webnovels. I'm guessing you don't actually read actual Chinese books (those that are not published online), right? So how did you conclude that the webnovels represent the "best" of Chinese fiction? That makes no sense.

FBC1337 well, some people like that sort of thing. At least label it dark erotica if you publish it, plus a page about how not normal it is 😝 I have to admit that I also have read the 50 shades series 🙈

MishaK one chapter a week not enough ?!! come on its not so easy to write 2000words staying coherent with your story and plot, then tou read it again and correct it, then tou need to translate it when you dont speak english fluently, it takes more time than writing, then tou need to reread again to be sure, and at last you publish. Not everyone can do it in one day, we have a work and a life too.
I think one chapter by week it's not so bad.
Let peole write what they want its like that in real life too, you just buy or read what you want orto like, we are the only ones who can give credits or not to writer.

Lelouch91 One chapter a week will not generate enough attention from readers. Even if someone picks your book and add it to their library, waiting to read another chapter next week would be torture! I mean, you forget the story by then. The reader may want to drop it. There is a lot of competition out there and plenty of books vying for readers' attention. Who has the patience to wait for a book that updates just once a week?

If writing/translating/proofreading etc takes time, then it is better to have lots of chapters written in advance and then release them on regular daily basis to keep the readers interest on.

QiDian is indeed famous among male readers.
However, QiDian would NOT be mature women's first choice in China, as you said, romance novels in QiDian are considered naive and shallow, and only for girls with insufficient life experience.
Instead, the most famous web novel website aiming at female readers in China is JinJiang(晉江/jjwxc.com) . In most novels you will not see the problems mentioned .

MishaK What BS is this? You might not, but don't speak for all the other readers. Some readers are fine with reading a chapter a week, especially since they have many stories to read. You don't have the patience, that's fine. You can read those stories with daily updates, no one is stopping you from doing that. But don't speak for others and stop people from updating once a week. Writers have real life and work to deal with, you know? They can't write one chapter a day all the time.

Just because you don't have the patience doesn't mean all readers don't. Just read whatever daily update stories you want, and let other people read whatever stories they want. I, and I'm sure quite a few people here too, am happy to wait a week or so for a new chapter as long as the quality is there. Who are you to demand that Webnovel kicks them out just because they can't keep up with your insane schedule demands? It's not as if you're paying the writers in the first place!

Tomoyuki Firstly, I am not demanding anything and it is my personal opinion.

Secondly, we are having a healthy discussion here. Don't make it murky by personally attacking me.

I don't own Webnovel, nor do I have any influence on their officials. But if you think like that, what can I say?...

Lastly let's stick to the main point from now on - "Quality of content published here!"

          3 years later

In the past, students had to go through courses and exams in order to get certified but nowadays, they can assign a literature review writer that allows students to write comfortably and obtain their degrees without going through exams.

When I search for books, I always click "Translation" because I'm not interested in reading fan-fic. For whatever reason this site is pushing the fan fic over translations in the search pages.

Look, if you want to write an interesting romance story, you need to add some conflict to the plot. You know what doesn't foster very much conflict? A healthy relationship. This is very much a problem with romantic writing in general, and is definitely not a Webnovel specific problem. It's not a Wattpad specific problem, and it certainly isn't unique, recent, or a sign of a low quality work. Is there a solution? Anything with a conflict not centered around the romance itself should be fine, but romance as a genre is a lost cause IMO.

On an unrelated note, it's interesting to see people complaining about WN in 2018.
