We have been a few months into this now and nothing has changed. They know that it's such a shady system that they have nothing on the main page that even talks about premium lol. They don't even list the novels that are Premium anywhere. I still don't understand how people even defend this. There's no change to the quality of the editing, same exact speed of chapters release when it was free, and the price per chapter is crazy.
Premium is terrible
I wish premium would be set to X amount of chapters ahead of free release
Yeah I have no problem with them wanting to setup a premium system. It's just that the way it's set up now is a joke. Even if you support it by going ahead a few chapters you then have to wait for free chapters to catch back up. It's like it even punishes you for using it lol.
Xavier2430 You think that premium is the only problem??

UnhingedTaboo Ouch! That's a pretty chilling post, yet sad to say not really a shock.
China literature is known for their slave contracts, locking in copyrights upwards of 18+ years.
The truth is Amazon is a much smarter avenue for an author than a contract with QI. There is a broader audience and the terms are very lucrative. Plus with Kindle Unlimited it can help gain exposure for lesser known authors.
Not to mention an author doesn't have to write the equivalent of 2-3 books a month in order to get paid $400. Thus they can avoid the carpal tunnel issues that the poster mentioned.
The author also doesn't have the stress of having to release something daily/weekly. They are free to create as they have time, to switch to different stories when they want, etc
UnhingedTaboo Wow that was tough to read...I really wish there was a better option for the authors as well.
useless i think
Xavier2430 it would be fine if the free chapter you receive each day would be the last locked one even after you bought some chapters
Xavier2430 Correct. Going premium is simply instant gratification.
I know that once I catch up to the latest chapters, I'll be sad all over again, and now I've gotten myself into a situation where I have to keep paying or pick the novel back up 3 months later.
It's just. Not worth it. I know it's for the good cause of supporting the authors and the website but I really can't do that to myself. I KNOW I can't keep paying.

UnhingedTaboo lmao...
Here we go...
Mhmm... mhmm... yeah.. mhmm.. okay...
Let me show you a funny little excerpt from Shift! One of the stories translated on Webnovel that's a sort of webnovel parody about qidian.
Having invested in SS now I can longer financially do so I'm facing at least a month waiting so in reality I should have waited, the current system doesn't inspire you to support
ShouldBeStudying Yeah that's the perfect solution. If you get a guaranteed free chapter everyday that would fix one of their big problems right away. I've seen this posted so many times and yet everyone who defends the premium right now never responds to it. With them not fixing such a simple problem tells me they don't care at all. It's so stupid if you go 7 chapters ahead you have to wait at least a week to get free chapters. I did it with one novel at the start and just dropped it all together lol.
shelwyn Then what about the 6 wieners(?) of that whatever competition?? Why haven't they been "employed" yet?
P.S. just to add can you provide that "bad" contract he spoke off? It would be pretty helpful to the new authors and may give them a drive if it's up to their expectation.
Thanos was terrible too

shelwyn I have to say that I take some offense to the unfeelingness of your post. It is despicable.
- Carpal Tunnel & Repetitive Stress injuries are not something to be mocked. The numbness, aching, burning, tingling, sensations especially when you wake up are horrific. It can set the tone for the whole day.
I've had to wear special splints/gloves at night in order to help treat the symptoms. AND YES taking a day off to rest the hands can help tremendously on the swelling and the pain. I can't imagine how hard it must be for a writer who has to write 4000 words per day WITH NO DAYS OFF.
I've been able to address my carpal tunnel/RSI but even now I still get the occasional pain in my finger joints due to my field (IT Admin/support). I've learned to take breaks but that doesn't always help. Arthritic fingers are almost definitely in my future :(. Still, it's the field I chose and I can accept it.
Waist & kidney failure - I can't speak for the waist but I have an 18yr old niece who had to leave work and go to the emergency room due to the pain from kidney stones. I've never had them but from her & friends I've heard, it is some of the most debilitating pain until you can pass the stones.
Sounds kinda hard to work. But someone unfeeling might not understand.
- Child Falling Ill - Even more of a reason for understanding and compassion. When you have a sick child and are worrying about them it becomes hard to focus on writing some fluffy words to appease some uncaring reader.
But then again it's something you might not understand.

Please say something
Who cares, if they want a contract qithout the crazy term just negotiate the 4,000 minimum words in exchange for the $400 monthly payment.
If they wrote a story that deserves a contract, they're great authors who deserves this contract they can make it off the fantastic story they wrote. Why not just strike off the minimum monthly payment in change of the 4k words minimum lol.
Lmao
Blahblahblahblah i think they make enough money now at webnovel and they wont take "risks"
UnhingedTaboo I agree, such atrocity!!!
he did the "TL;DR" which was freaking longer than the actual post... what a monster.
DaoistFedUp I just read the 3 points he mentioned.... it held the potential of great drama!!
