N0xiety I guess Qi were just trying to figure out something that will make a difference.. and also they will not do anything if they don't have a good reason to implement for changes and developments.
Qidian's Premium Chapters
Yi_Wan It will happen if some readers still complainingXD

N0xiety WTF !
QI gives you Alternative Option in your wortless complain
Stil don't know how to appreciate works and you still demands just because China is Rich?
N0xiety Wuxiaworld is originally a fan translation site. I have no idea about the specific details behind them, but as far as what I'm in knowledge of from way back 2 years ago, what they pay to their translators is what the site earns. Now, keep that in mind—wuxiaworld earns from ads, and they pay their translators through these ads. There's also bonus chapters. In simpler words, money comes first, then they use the money to pay the translators. I repeated that 3 times so that it'll be understandable, alright?
Now, you look at the almighty Qidian International. Lul. They pay their translators a fixed rate even before they started their website. To put it simply, they INVESTED MONEY. They didn't earn anything at the start, instead, they gave their OWN money to pay the translators and editors, hoping for them to provide work that will gain them profits in the future. Qidian is not a fan translation site, it is a business, owned by a company, IN ORDER TO GET RETURN OF INVESTMENT. To put it simply: qidian sends money first, then they wait for the ads to let them earn back what they give. That's a stark contrast right?
Now, as you have seen in the damned premium announcement, Qidian is operating at a lost. What does it mean bro? The money they are investing is SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT THEY EARN BACK. The fixed payment for the translators are still there, BUT THEY ARE NOT EARNING ANYTHING BACK. Why would the investors or the people behind qi continue supporting or pouring in money on something that will never provide them profits or even RETURN OF INVESTMENT (ROI)? That's just complete and utter bullshit.
Now, what happens to a company that doesn't earn back their money? They file for bankruptcy. They leave the market. And the translators that were earning fixed rate of salary will have no jobs. Do you think they will continue as fan translators? Lol. If even half of them remain, that'll be a fucking miracle. Now, think of the unpopular novels, do you really think they will continue? They will just turn to dust, forever forgotten.
Lastly, this is really the saddest part I saw on your post. Please do compare the ad situation of ww and qi. QI has the best kind of ads in the entirety of the translation scene. You don't fucking lose tons of mobile data through some cancerous ads, and your adblock doesn't block 10k+ ads loading in the site. Do you know why WW earns so much more than QI? Because their ads are cancer, and the site is practically unusable if you have limited data, unless you want your data to run out right away.
Everyone is annoyed about the shit QI pulled off. But understand this is investment, and without return of investment, they will eventually quit the market, and you lose a fuckton of novels.
BensonBee Stop being a bitch.
BensonBee I'm not being a 'bitch'...
I can make do with the current system, but i'm just affraid that Qi international will become like Qi China. Which is 'complete paywall' like in China. If that happens, sorry but i can't pay 20 cents per chapter with the ammount of novels i'm reading right now. So i'm just stating my displeasure so hopefully that will never happen. If i don't show my displeasure, Qi will think everything is fine and dandy...
Ofc i don't believe that translators are like cabbages, but most of the popular series that are on Qi right now already had translators before Qi international even existed...
BensonBee They have just expressing their own opinions about the changes.
Kunkka you have to use some money to pay for premium account
N0xiety Displeasure??? What displeasure??? Complaing and demanding just because premiums aren't free and China is rich???
HugeJin Its just like a free tasted of a food, once you get a bite and want some more, well buying the product is your choice to have more it. so does the qidian economy.
N0xiety its not really a mess business for QI But seeing the different use of their novels, one that you can still read their novel by waiting or inviting and us SS but more investing your patience than your money and you deserve that, but If you want to support and have more consideration for the translator now you have the perfect conscience to yourself that your not just helping yourself to satisfy your basic sense of life but also the life of the QI workers.. job well done.
N0xiety Why are you even humouring these idiots that are acting like paid actors. Your Rant isn't gonna change a thing, just accept it!! we just need to stop reading on this site..... and pirate the chapters or wait till they launch the novel on Kindle!!As that's the only way they are going to get money from me!!
N0xiety dont worry, QI knows how to work properly, they just know what is better for readers like us. for more conveniency.
N0xiety If they succeed with this premium, then such paywalls will never happen. If they don't, they'll just quit the market. If they force a paywall, that'll just be a stupid move, and I think as experts of business in China, they won't make a move where they lose 90 percent of their readers and earn literally nothing from the remaining die hard fans.
It's a matter business logic. They understand that they will lose tons of fucking readers if they put up a real paywall, and instead of earning money, they will lose even more. SO MUCH MORE that they will quit the market sooner than later. That's why they created an alternative where both paying readers and non-paying readers can remain, while they somehow barely get money and save themselves from operating at a loss.
GoGo Great. Pirate the novels like a little bitch. I've mostly passed the editing job of ritf to Chrissy, so I'm not that affected anymore, but hey, let me just say fuck you for pirating from the people who are working hard to provide you chapters everyday, spending hours of their lives in order to make the chapters presentable to your eyes. Oh, sure, there are retarded tls, but there are so much more who are working so hard and all they get is a fuck you in the face because of people like you encourage pirating.

Arch Oh! shit.. I am feeling bad now...
Ok I get it! But why the new system, a kind like this.. we also have work to do, When we see new chapters far from our reach, what do you think will go in our mind??, I am ready to purchase the novels on Kindle if you ask me to, but besides that... I can't do anything else. I still don't have a job, I am 20year old already.
The new system introduced my most hated monetization tool, the fake currency. I have had bad experience with these things, I have never purchased them, but they most of the time break the balance in the community, certain advantage to certain individuals just because they are able to flesh out some money!!
I know that this is how this world works, and Qidian is also a service provider that needs to feeds its workers.
But you need to see, that we also got real life too... I am free for 2 months at most. I am able to stay on net for a long time now without a consequence, but not everyone has this freedom. Even I will loose it soon as not much time is left.
So to do multiple task for some minuscule amount of spirit stones will be stupid(and the each ad will take at least 1 min for 4 stones). So How can we manage??
Reading novels is a cheap and fast vice, its not that time consuming as games(I am on break now), and I have watched the anime's that liked!!
P.S. I am living a pretty good life when I think about it!!
Having a premium with paywalled (SS) 10 chapters ahead... well its ok I guess, if you want to read ahead then pay, but...
If they slow down the releases to support this then, thats a big no-no. They can easily keep the 10 chapters ahead for those that want to read the first, and still release in normal format, but we will see what the greed is later.
