I'm really annoyed by this translator removing whole parts from the novel and censoring names of organizations and countries like 'CIB (CIA), UA (US), FBA (FBI), Han (China), Rainbow Mansion (White House), Los Santos (Los Angeles), Xiangjiang (Hong Kong) and many more...

For doing this the translator gives the excuse of these being not important to the story. Just to be politically correct (in his/her own mind) the translator censors whatever he/she thinks is offensive to others. Oh but the funny part is that the translator doesn't censor other countries names like Syria or Iraq. Same can be said for the organizations like IS. I wonder why? The translator even cuts parts from the novel as you can see from the example below! Everything below is taken from chapter 259...

This is the original text;

God knows how many parts like this the translator cut out! This is just one example... Sadly i don't have the time to go through the whole raws to check everything, but you get the idea.

Now some of you may argue 'but this does not effect the story', but that's not what the problem here is, the problem is the translator going beyond what a translator should be doing! I shouldn't even need to argue on this since it's a translators job to translate 'EXACTLY' from the original! Not change/cut/add things as he/she likes according to his/her political views! That's not how a translator should work! The reason doesn't matter! If these are written in the book, then i want to see them translated period! Also it completely kills my immersion. I like to read this kind of information! This is part of the immersion, but translator thought it would be a good idea to cut it out so some people wouldn't get offended for some unknown reason. Sigh, i really hate this swc world we are living in nowadays. The 'safe space' bullsh*t even infected the novels, this is really getting ridicilous...

Also to those who say this does not effect the story at all, here is an example to prove my point;

A confused reader named 'MtHugeBook' wrote this in chapter 277 comments,

''i think that Jiang Chen world History did become different even before he got his dimensional travel ability. think about it. they change names of organization like FBI, USA, KGB, etc. and I thought it is because of legal issue like most novel and manga. but his world history was never the same as Our World History to begin with. so my guess is that some thing caused his world history to diverse from our own.''

As you can see the reader is confused and trying to speculate why the names of organizations are different. It's funny when you actually know that this confusion is caused by the translator just so he/she can be politically correct according to his/her own views...

So please i ask you to 'correct' this translator just as he/she is trying to 'correct' the novel...

Hi. I speak Spanish. It is already difficult to read it translated into google translate. It does not seem right to give me more work than I have in trying to understand everything.

N0xiety one of the reason i hate low quality translator, they removes parts of the author words just to make their job easier. i'd rather mtl the whole thing, not that it makes a lot of difference.

N0xiety to think that it was the translator that put random shit together that makes the difference in translation.

N0xiety for me, for a translator to change the authors word as he likes, the translator is a bad one.
i dont even recognize UA, CIB.. is this even same earth? but then Russia is russia, china is Han.. it is all weird.
translator didnt bother about IS, Iraq, Syria, so the translator just change the country hes scared? china to han, us to ua? what is he even scared of, the author is clearly not giving a damn about anyone. Why even choose whose to censor, not that they even read the novel. Translator is biased and clearly remove/ change part of authors word. if that isnt a bad translator i dont know what is bad, just grammar?

NineLife When i said the translator isn't bad, i was thinking more in the line of general translation quality. But you are absolutely right! Btw spotted another sneaky removal by the translator hehe. It seems the author directly used 'Obama' as the US president, but the translator decided to change it directly to just 'president'. Guess it still works in general, but yeahhhhhh..........

destructor You know i wouldn't mind too much if the translator was only censoring names of nations and organizations, but cutting parts is not acceptable. Since i'm actually using an app to auto correct all of translators censors, i could still work with it to some degree instead of ranting here. I shouldn't need to correct anything in the first place, but yeah that's a workaround i found atleast. It's annoying to add everything into the list, but it's still workable in the end. But when the translator cuts entire paragraphs out, no ammount of app can fix it... Also some words like 'Han' can't be worked with in the auto correction app since the translator uses that same word for both 'China' and 'chinese'...

Yeah the UA and CIB and all that is no good. Makes it too confusing. There s freedom of speech in the USA just say it haha. The skipping stuff I'm not sure how to interpret. By this point an info dump like that would actually seem strange so the translator might as well stick to what he's doing.

the lack of official response is somewhat irritating. why the translator isnt explaining his reason for censoring and cutting of parts of the author words.

and no response from @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL either, what is their action to prevent something like this from happening in other novel? or are they going to be just like, we are informed of this problem and then poof nothing changes.

NineLife Translator explains his reasoning in the comments of the novel and doesn't seem to want to keep explaining it over and over again. Which he clearly states that he doesn't want to even discuss it anymore. It's hard to spot all his messages since they span over a couple dozen chapters. Anyways for his reasoning, basically he doesn't want people to get offended and doesn't want controversy over what's written in the novel. Basically he wants the novel to be a 'safe space' for everyone... So he cuts and censors parts that he finds might be offensive to other people. Tho i can't really understand what his criteria is for 'offensive content'. I mean what's even offensive about 'China, US, White House, Hong Kong, ect.' but 'Syria, Iraq or IS' isn't? What is so offensive about these that he feels the need to censor them? For that i can't really fathom his reasons, but it must make sense in his head atleast right?

Well, it's still too early to say if the problem will get fixed as there aren't that many new chapters so far. But as Cktalon said, it seems they informed the translator so i don't wanna keep bringing up the issue. Ofc that doesn't mean everything will be fine from now on since 'being informed' doesn't always equal to 'taking action'... But well, i will see in the coming chapters and act accordingly.

i dont know who is offended but certainly not US, CIA and the likes. its like the translator himself getting scared to write US and CIA, but he doesnt get scared of IS and KGB, Soviet.
Muslims are more likely to get offended, but he didnt bother censoring Aisya religion, IS and even making Aisya marries JC. but translator doesnt bother censoring that lol. i dont get his logic, maybe hes just afraid of US and China power. other power he doesnt even care.

well just read till latest chapter, still writing UA instead of US. but then there is a mention of third reich, berlin, hitler.. even a device made by the them using 10k brains.

whatever his reason is, it is biased af. well censoring is continued, so yea they are informed but no action is taken.

N0xiety Honestly, if he didn't want the content to be offensive he shouldn't have picked a novel based half in our world and half in an alternate one, Chinese modern day novels are all full of nationalism and racism towards other countries.

LeechesOfSoul It's not offensive, many Muslims don't pray daily just like many Christians don't go to church weekly, and even if this was offensive, you can't blame the translator unless he's excluding it being mentioned in the original Chinese text, which i don't believe he is, infact she pretty much gave up her faith when she decided to be with the MC.
