With the help of you fantastic reviewers I might have found a soluion to the confusion. I simply rewrote chapter two, linking it to the first chapter and feeding into chapter three.

Yanked the intro as well. Let's see if readers get less confused now. If so it's all because of the input you gave me.

StenDuring You cannot judge the book by its cover. There is no book in the world in which you can understand the entire story by reading just the first chapter! Otherwise RIP to the suspense and thriller genre. My other book ‘The Inconvenient Wife’ has a huge element of suspense and it left people wanting to know the truth even by ch 45. But the story flows in a way that... (I can’t give spoilers here!)
Anyway I don’t care if anyone isn’t interested in a review swap. Not my loss!

      StenDuring Actually, I often judge books by their covers. That's what covers are for; to let you know what's inside. If a book has a space ship on the cover, I'm going to assume it's science fiction, if it has a couple gazing into each others' eyes, I'm going to assume it's romance, and if it has a complicated mathematical formula on the cover, I'd be really surprised if it turned out to be about a community of shapeshifters at war with a community of necromancers.

          Charlotte8 While I guess that response wasn't sent in my direction. Yep. It's called coherence. Author and writer set up an unwritten contract. If that contract is broken the novel is usually dropped.

            I just have to say I didn't even know some of these books existed thank you for the recommendations on books to read and I'll be leaving a review for you guys to show my thanks and show my gratitude and good work your novel is. So keep up the great work everyone.
